Yea I killed another one while on this.. a workout that is.
    —-Introduction—-
MR. Hyde original was one of my favorites so seeing this one is new and improved,, got to try this bad boy. Needing any extra kick in the butt I can get to help push me through a solid workout is something I truly need from time to time.

    What I like in this
Creatine HCL. Some do not like this one but I do seem to be liking this one more and more. I feel this one may be the next Mono in the next few years as far as being commonly used.
Nitrosigine is clinically shown to demonstrate significant increases in areas such as vasodilation, cognitive function, and much more.
GABA, I love this stuff. It works great for relaxing the mind, which surprisingly works great in a Preworkout to help get you focused.
THEACRINE , A different kind of stimulate, For me it is not as strong as some but it seems to last much longer than just a good strong kick out of the gate.

    —-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-
I had two different ones and they both are really great. Watermelon and Blue raspberry. Both mix very well .
I only had to use one scoop the entire time while on this.

    —-Effectiveness—-
Well I loved the old version so I was hoping this would live up to at least that.. It does. And I still love the old version this one does bring a few new tricks to the game the old one did not. I did notice much more vascularity with this one than the older version. I Did notice a slight more jittery feeling while on this one than I did with the older version. It would quickly go away about as fast as it come on too though. One thing the old version did do that this one does not do is give me a crash. On times the old version I would crash hard and out of no where. This one I really did not have this feeling.
The thing with this one is the energy comes in nice and soft and finishes strong. Reminds me of the Catalina wine mixer. The older version is was hardcore right out of the gate and went hard the whole time until it was gone.

I really had some great workouts with this one.

    —-Value—-
Amazon I think is the cheapest place I can find it. 24 bucks for 30 servings. A solid pick I feel

    —-Side Effects—-
Can be a bit jittery and if taken late can cause loss of sleep.

    —-Conclusion—-
ProSupps must have some mad scientist working for them to make the old awesome Mr.Hyde even better. I really enjoyed using this one and Im sorry it took me a while to get this review up .

  2. Cray

Unfortunately an awful experience for me.
    —-Introduction—-
After a really positive experience with Gold Dust, my first really high-stim preworkout in a while, and knowing that the original Hyde product is well regarded and highly reviewed, I was excited to grab a tub of the new Hyde Nitrox. Unfortunately, as you’ll read, I had an extremely negative response to this product. Also, I’m not really sure how to rate this product I did my best. I don’t honestly think it’s a “bad product” as the 4 rating would suggest.

I do want to put it out there that I am not a preworkout novice by any stretch. I’ve reviewed over 40 preworkouts on SR and probably tried close to 75 different products. I’m adept at dialing in products, scaling the dose, and adjusting as needed to get the best results. I’m not stim-sensitive at all. Of course, no product works for everybody. People regularly react in significantly different fashions to various supplements, especially preworkouts. Please keep that in mind when reading this review.

    —-Ingredient Profile—-
Hyde is a stimulant powerhouse containing a 420mg blend of various types of caffeine as well as 25mg of Theacrine, a caffeine-like stimulant, and 3mg of Yohimbe. There’s a lot going on in Hyde is this area, and the effectiveness of the doses of these various stimulants is really dependent on the user, their mass, and their tolerance levels. Also included here is Theanine (not Theacrine), which helps to smooth out the effects of stimulants like caffeine.

Interestingly, Theacrine has a biphasic dose response, meaning it actually acts as a sedative at lower doses (under 50mg). I was surprised to learn this fact for reasons later explained.

Given my response, I’m not going to delve deeply into the other ingredients of this product.

    —-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-
I requested and received the Peachy Oh flavor. There were so many to choose from I’m not really sure why I went with Peachy Oh. Maybe just because it was very different? Regardless, the flavoring is on point and tastes exactly like those round peach-flavored gummies you’d buy from a candy store. For me though, the taste was too sweet for my liking. If you’re really into candy, you’ll love this flavor.

No issues at all with clumping or foaming. One scoop dissolves quickly and easily in 12 oz. ice water.

Unfortunately I tried only four doses of Hyde, each with a slightly different protocol. I tried a full scoop on both an empty stomach and with food, as well as a half scoop on an empty stomach and with food.

    —-Effectiveness—-
My first scoop of Hyde Nitrox was the most unpleasant preworkout experience I’ve had since I overdid it with a dose of Dark Rage about six years ago. Knowing the stimulant profile, I still felt comfortable I’d be able to manage one level scoop on an empty stomach. I was very much mistaken. Within fifteen minutes of dosing I was extremely uncomfortable and experiencing several negative side effects including cold sweats, disparate body temperatures, heart palpitations, jitters, and an inability to focus. I tried to work out but quickly came to the conclusion I was not able to do so. I tried some light cardio, found my heart rate was running over 150 bpm, and decided it was best to stop.

These effects persisted in some fashion for over eight hours. I felt ill and shaky most of the day. My hands and arms were freezing cold the entire morning, while my legs were actually sweating and overly warm. But the worst was that jittery, shaky feeling which didn’t leave me until late in the evening.

OK. So I quickly decided that I’d underestimated the profile of Hyde. No problem. I’ll adjust the dose and I’ll make sure I’ve got some food in my stomach. That will help, right? Unfortunately no. While never as bad as the first day, the subsequent three servings of Hyde all hit me with some level of the aforementioned negative side effects, and thus I made the call to discontinue the product after only four servings.

After discussing with my fellow Troopers on how best to proceed with this review, I went back into my other reviews of preworkouts to try and uncover why I was reacting so poorly to Hyde. I wasn’t able to nail down a single culprit. I’ve had good experiences with other products with all of these stimulants. Yohimbe does tend to hit me strongly and has given me jitters before, but I’ve supplemented it directly at over 3mg daily and not had these sort of strong side effects. Perhaps it was the Theacrine to blame? But it should have a calming effect given its dose in Hyde, as previously stated. And again, I’ve had products with Theacrine or TeaCrine before and not reacted like this.

End of the day, could have just been the robust caffeine profile was too much for me. I go back to Gold Dust though. Gold Dust packs 350mg of caffeine plus an additional 200mg of another DMAA-like stimulant, and I loved that product. Ultimately I’m frustrated on this front.

    —-Value—-
The industry average for preworkouts, from my research, is right around $1.00 per serving. If you want to go for a product that touts high quality, clinically dosed ingredients (Outlift for example) you can expect to pay closer to $1.75 per scoop.

Hyde is cheap. A 30 scoop tub can be bought off Amazon for $23.50 which equates to only .78c per scoop. Very competitive. And although I didn’t go into the profile much – what you’re getting for .78c a serving is impressive. Please note I rated VALUE as if I hadn’t had a poor response, and instead was basing it on what you get per serving and the per serving cost.

    —-Side Effects—-
    See Effectiveness.

    —-Conclusion—-
I was disappointed in my experience with Hyde as I was so looking forward to trying it after reading positive reviews of its predecessor. I really wish I could identify why it was I reacted so negatively to Hyde, both so that I could better warn others and also so that I know to avoid products with the same ingredient.

All that said however, please go back to my introduction. I can’t recommend this product nor would I purchase it given my experience, but it’s possible, even probable, that my response is an outlier and not the norm. MHSeaver670 gave this product extremely high marks and he’s one of the site’s top reviewers. As with anything else, do your research and know your body and your level of tolerance before determining whether or not you want to give Hyde a shot.

  3. E-2016

Easily one of the best and in my top 3!
    —-Quick Summary—-

This pre-workout is one of the best I have used so far, over years and years of trial and error I finally found a solid product that I will recommend and am willing to buy again. The ingredients were top notch, the taste was great, mixability easy and there was no over dosing. The high points are most definatly the effectiveness.

    —-Introduction—-

So I was out at the mall some time at the end of March and my gf needed some collogen so we stopped into GNC which I just don’t like doing because in the past I’ve almost always experienced very high prices for products I turned out to not be happy with, but that’s the trial and error process we all live through. So I’m in GNC and saw the Mr. Hyde and I was out of Pre-Workout I have seen this onlne before so decided to give it a try. Again I thought it was over priced over $45, in fact when I went home I found it on amazon for $27. Day #1 I was very very impressed, long lasting and effective are both under statements.

    —-Ingredient Profile—-

Mr. Hyde uses a combined matrix tye of formula to it’s ingredients which I am not a huge of but they broke each category up with individual measuments which was cool. One Serving = One Scoop which is 7.6g. I won’t go into detail on the more common ingredients but there are some I had to look up so I’ll share my findings. Each serving contains 25mg of Niacin, In their Strength Matrix 2.5g of Beta Alanine, 1g of Creatine Nitrate, 500mg of Arginine Silcate and 500mg of Citrulline Aspartate. In the Caffine Matrix 300mg of Caffine Anhydrous, 70mg of Di-Caffine Malate which is cafeene that separates rapidly once it enters your stomach. This matrix also contains Caffine Citric Acid at 70mg and Caffeine Anhydrous ay 50mg. The Intensity Matrix contains 500mg of Choline Bitartrate (used for muscle control and memory), 50mg of Theanine (Mood & Memory) (I think this should be at least 200mg the effective dosing for this is 200mg with caffine to work properly for the average person), 50mg N-Acetyl Tyrosine (cognitive enhancement & to increase bioavailability and absorption), 25mg of Theacrine (a stimulant acting like caffeine), 25mg of GABA and 3mg of Yohimbe Bark Extract. At the end of the day I felt that the combined ingredient list worked very well.

    —-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-

Simply put the taste was great, this is one of the few times that I can confidently say I liked the taste on the first gulp. The flavor I tried was Cherry Popsicle, that one scoop in 20oz of cold water tasted amazing, exactly like the flavors name. Through the entire drink the taste stayed and didn’t have an after taste which was a huge plus. / This had a perfect mixability it wasn’t too fine which you might find in some pre-workouts which hurts the mixability in that it just won’t mix or clumpy which again it was not. A couple shakes and your ready to go. / For me one scoop is more than enough I am a straight two scoop guy to start in most pre-workouts thank gd I started with one scoop because that was more than enough and I will explain why in my effectiveness section.

    —-Effectiveness—-

My first drink was again one scoop in 20oz or cold water at 3am I downed about half before I left for the gym and in about 5 min I could feel the tingling from the Niacin and Beta-Alanine on my cheeks and the back of my neck. 20 min in and I was up up, I WAS AWAKE and ready to kick some A. I am not caffeine sensitive by any means and I have taken some heavy thermogenics in my time and this pre-workout can stand with the best of them easily. Not to far into my workout I was sweating like crazy just doing weights which normally I don’t do. I felt a slight pump while working out but nothing impressive, I felt strong though. Maybe it was a combined laser focused and determined that made me feel strong. I definitely felt like I was getting fantastic workout and it was all the Hyde. After my workout I was still super focus so I went home and cleaned my house which is not out of the ordinary but I was cleaning places like the top of the fridge which I typically don’t do lol. It wasn’t until 11am that I stopped feeling the effects of the Hyde and I think I sweated the entire time even after my shower. Around 9am I started to feel the jitters bad sporadic and more sweating without actually doing anything which felt off for me. I thankfully didn’t experience a crash which I was very much expecting. I continued to take the one scoop portion and just dealt with the more negative side effects because to me the positive out weighed the negative.

    —-Value—-

Ugh, it wasn’t out of ignorance by any means I chalk my over payment to impatience. At GNC the value is terrible on Amazon it was literally half the price (the only two places I checked). For $27 I would most definitely buy this product again and I want to try the other flavors.

    —-Side Effects—-

Jitters may be moderate to extreme depending on your tolerance for me they stayed moderate. Extreme sweating. Maybe you can say the the length of effectiveness is a side effect, I mean it seems like it lasted forever; longer than anything I’ve ever taken. I didn’t experience any other negative side effects just the same two but in different levels. Although I did’t you might experience loss of sleep if taken to late in the day.

    —-Conclusion—-

In conclusion for me this was one of the best all around pre-workouts I have taken defiantly in my top three. I will buy this again because I’d like to try the other flavors. This is not for the weak of heart though. If you are caffeine sensitive this might just kill you so don’t take it but if you can handle the rough stuff than this is for you.

    A Little Bit Too Stimmy…
    —-Quick Summary—-
Firstly thanks to ProSupps for supporting the Troops.

Not for the stim averse. But if you like a full on, caffeine loaded experience, this is it, and its at a crazy low price.

    —-Introduction—-
I must be getting old or something – this is the 2nd straight PWO I have tested that I could only handle at 3/4 scoop. My go to PWO is probably Nutrabio‘s PRE in its various editions. Stim free PWOs dont do it for me, so i definitely need caffeine in there, but too much and it gets uncomfortable. Although there is 350mg of caffeine supplements in PRE (a bit less when normalized to caffeine), only 250mg is caffeine anhydrous. There is 300mg caffeine anhydrous in Mr Hyde, plus another 120mg of complexed caffeine compounds making 378mg caffeine (normalized) in total. Added to that, the Theacrine appears to enhance the stim effect. I made it work by dropping to 3/4 scoop, and that worked OK, and I had some great workouts. i kept feeling though that I was putting some aggressive stuff in my body even at 3/4 scoop. Well it is called Mr Hyde for a reason: i guess that’s to be expected if you choose Mr Hyde over Dr Jekyll.

    —-Ingredient Profile—-
Mr Hyde has a fully disclosed label with most of the commonly used raws, and almost all at effective doses (a little too effective in the stim dept.). Without listing everything, there is the caffiene matrix as described above, 25mg Theacrine, 50mg NALT for focus, and 25mg GABA, which supposedly has a calming effect in addition to increasing growth hormone production. There is also 1g creatine HCl which is perfect for me and i would have added that anyway. Not much in the way of pump components which is the only thing lacking (L-Citrulline Aspartate only present at 500mg). Finally, there is 3mg Yohimbe extract in there. I’m not a fan of that because it can gives me gastro issues. My wife is even more affected and cant handle it at all. With so many people reporting this i dont know why supporting companies use it. Nutrabio put it in PRE for a while but them removed it – i assume due to negative feedback.

    —-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-
I had the blue razz flavor and it was OK. Nice to see they used spirulina rather than a synthetic dye for color.

    —-Effectiveness—-
Foolishly I tried a full scoop out of the gate. Started to get cold sweats on the way to the gym and got quite uncomfortable. I started to feel a little sick and my heart rate was definitely up. Reminded me of the old recreational days… So after that I dropped to 3/4 scoop for the remainder of the tub. At 3/4 scoop its still pretty intense and I had some very good workouts. Good strength, focus and endurance. Not much in the way of pump was the only real negative. You can drop 1g of agmatine sulfate or 3 capsules of Big Ronnie’s Stacked NO to fix that though – and with Mr Hyde’s low price, you would still be well ahead.

    —-Value—-
Amazon has an amazingly good deal at present: $21.99 for a 30 serving tub. Its available from several other retailers at around $22, but free shipping if you are a Prime member on Amazon. Thats $0.73/scoop, or if like me you can only take 3/4 scoop, only $0.54 per workout. I would normally recommend Big Ronnie’s Yeah Buddy PWO if on a budget but this beats even that for value.

    —-Side Effects—-
At 1 scoop: cold sweats, palpitations, nausea…

    —-Conclusion—-
No doubt the stim freaks will love this. It worked for me at 3/4 scoop, and I got some great workouts. I couldn’t help feeling though, that I was just diluting the unpleasant side effects so that they were not so noticeable. The price absolutely cant be beat. if you were on a tight budget you could even drop to 1/2 scoop and still get a good workout.

I agonized over choosing Yes or Meh and finally went with Meh. Yes it works and its great value – but its just a little too fierce for me.

ProSupps Mr Hyde Nitro X Review: Had it not been for tolerance build up and weak pumps I would have changed my name to Hydefan!
    —-Quick Summary—-
ProSupps Mr Hyde Nitro X is one of the hottest pre workout products available right now, it is very popular, and it is primarily intended for high energy, endurance and mental focus. There were however problems with tolerance build up and very weak pumps. That aside, I still rate this as a very good pre workout product.

    —-Introduction—-
Whats up SR? Its time for a preworkout review and this time we are talking about one of the hottest pres around; Mr Hyde NitroX from ProSupps. This has received both positive and negative criticism, and I will focus on both sides in this review. Right of the bat I want to say that this is the International version of Hyde NitroX and not the U.S version. There are some differences, but in the end I don’t see those differences as especially noteworthy regarding the big picture. More of that below. Im 42 years old, Im pretty stim tolerant and work out 4 times a week. I need a good pre to get me going, so let’s see how this one stacked up.

    —-Ingredient Profile—-
The international version lacks GABA and Yohimbe extract, and this is the most obvious difference. The caffeine sources are slightly different, but not to a degree that would impact effectiveness at all. I don’t like yohimbe, or fat burning ingredients overall as energizers, so I dont mind its absence here. GABA would have been nice to have included in this version. Yohimbe is regarded as a pharmaceutical substance in some parts of Europe, so that’s probably the explanation for its absence here. The other ingredients are the same basically.

Niacin 25 mg (156 % of your daily allowance)

    Strength matrix

    Beta alanine (CarnoSyn) 2.5 g
    Creatine HCL 1 g
    Arginine Silicate (Nitrosigine) 500 mg
    L-Citrulline Aspartate 500 mg

    Caffeine matrix

    Caffeine anhydrous 300 mg
    Di-caffeine malate 90 mg
Caffeine citric acid blend 20 mg

Total amount of caffeine yielded per scoop; 375 mg

    Intensity matrix

    Choline bitartrate 500 mg
    Theanine 50 mg
    N-acetyl l-tyrosine 50 mg
    Theacrine (Teacrine) 40 mg

    I would say that the profile is a bit of a mixed bag to be perfectly honest here. Some ingredients are well dosed, others very much under dosed. This forces us to ask the question of what is the intended use for this pre. Lets take a look at the ingredients;

Niacin: often used in preworkouts for increasing blood flow. Partakes in many functions within the body and relates to energy production and protein synthesis among other things. The dose, if intended for blood flow, is a relatively weak one.

Beta alanine: well researched ingredient in the highly touted CarnoSyn version that delays the build up of lactic acid and other waste products in your working muscles. This provides you with the capacity to squeeze out a few extra reps before fatigue sets in. It may also decrease resting time between sets. 2.5 g is under dosed; however I would contend that this dose will provide you with most of the benefits of this ingredient.

Creatine HCL: creatine bonded to hydrochloric acid for increased absorption and efficiency; or so the theory goes. Some claim it works wonders, others reject it vehemently. I’m a bit on the fence here, but usually take creatine monohydrate so no big deal for me. 1 g would be “clinical dose” according to those who likes it. Some would say that 1.5 g or more is needed. Creatine provides short burst explosive strength and muscle energy and is one of the best researched ingredients available within sport supplementation.

Nitrosigine: patented brand for inositol stabilized arginine silicate; which acts as a nitric oxide booster, providing increased blood flow and other claimed benefits such as increased muscle recovery. An increased bioavailability is also claimed as a benefit of this supplement that has gained a lot of attention lately. 1,5 g is the claimed “clinical dose” so with only 500 mg here, we must conclude that this is under dosed in that regard.

L-Citrulline aspartate: Citrulline is the most common nitric oxide booster used today and here we have it bonded to a form of aspartic acid in a 500 mg dose. If we look at the clinical dose of citrulline bonded to malic acid we are generally talking about 6-8 g, so this dose here fades in comparison. Can’t really say if this combination is better than citrulline malate. Why is it even included here? A filler ingredient basically.

Caffeine blend: 410 mg blend of caffeine versions provides us with 375 mg total of pure caffeine, which I would say is a decent dose. Personally, I’m pretty stim tolerant so this dose is absolutely no problem at all for me, rather I got used to it a little too quickly. More on that below. Caffeine is a solid stimulant that provides both physical and mental stimulation and provides us with the opportunity to work out longer and better with more energy.

Choline bitartrate: an old school ingredient taken for increased mental focus. I like this ingredient. 500 mg is a bit low I think, although 500 mg and up to 2 g is regarded as clinical.

Theanine: an amino acid often used in preworkouts to take the edge of high stims. It is found in tea leaves and provides a degree of relaxation. It is claimed to increase mental focus and enhance memory for example. 50 mg is under dosed (between 100 and up to 400 mg is clinical dosing).

NALT: tyrosine provides mental focus and well being, and comes here in a version that crosses the blood-brain barrier and impacts the brain more effectively. Clinical dose is often interpreted to be in the 250 mg up to 2 g. Hence, it is here under dosed. I like NALT, but the dose here is nothing more than ridiculous. Another filler.

Teacrine: 40 mg of this caffeine like alkaloid is a low dose for starters. It has achieved a wide usage nowadays and is extremely popular due to its caffeine like properties, but without the obvious tolerance build up. It often provides a longer lasting alertness than caffeine. This dose is slightly higher than the dose in the U.S version (25 mg).

    —-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-
This supplement comes in a lot of different flavors, and I got the green apple version. I must say that ProSupps delivered on this one; the flavor is definitely a nice green apple taste with a moderate sweetness to it. It is refreshing overall, although there is a kind of peppery after taste which I wasn’t all that crazy about. But that taken aside, I think it deserves an 8/10 rating here. Mixability was fine; the powder dissolved pretty easily, not much to say about that. When it comes to dosing this is a one scooper pre, however for me, I had to up the dose to 1 1/2 scoops after 2 weeks and on the end of the tub not even that was sufficient. But I’m very stim tolerant so that’s just me though. Each scoop is 7.5 g and you mix it with 8 oz of water and consume 30 min before training and that’s how I went about it.

    —-Effectiveness—-
    I can say that I liked this pre a lot, but there are some complaints to be thrown in as well. Let’s dive in;

Energy: I like high stim contents and I need a pretty big boost to get me going in the gym. But Hyde NitroX delivered on energy overall I think. I could be tired after a long day at work and totally not motivated at all in going to the gym. But I changed my mind after knocking this pre back. Energy was good and solid throughout a 2 hour workout most of the time. I felt fine and wanted to combat the weights. The energy was long lasting even after working out and made me do other chores and work with a smile on my face. However, I noticed a clear tolerance build up after about 2 weeks in, so this reduces the overall rating on this pre. In the end I hardly even noticed that I had taken a preworkout. Not good. But otherwise, I liked the buzz here. I had two crashes with this one, but I suspect that other circumstances played a role here, so I don’t blame the pre. Good energy in general and I liked it.

Mental focus/well being: overall pretty nice level of these categories, Nothing ground breaking or huge, but effective nonetheless here. Sometimes I got euphoria, which I absolutely love (who doesn’t?). Nice feeling when fighting the weights and mental alertness was around even after the gym. Sometimes I wanted to return to the gym for some more. Solid results overall, even if it didn’t kick in as hard on some occasions. I would have liked more choline bitartrate and NALT here. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose.

Pumps/endurance: this pre pretty much is lacking in the pump department, although for what it is, I think it is a decent one seen from a minimalist point of view. I would say that this isn’t primarily intended for providing pumps, it is intended for energy, focus and endurance more than anything. With high intensity reps something that resembled a pump popped out, but nothing to write home about. If you want pumps, don’t by this one. Endurance was good overall and the long lasting energy certainly helped me out here.

    —-Value—-
I bought this on a BOGO and I paid about 40 dollars for 2 tubs. Pro Supps often has this on BOGO sales where I live, so kudos for that. But around 30 bucks for one tub is acceptable I think and worth it, since this is a one scooper pre (for most people) and also a very good one to boot! 30 servings in this pre, and for that money, I think provide an overall good value. You get a good deal of bang for your buck. If you find it on BOGO, then I would say that the value is awesome! On Bodybuilding.com you get one tub for $ 29.99, which is basically 1 dollar per serving. The same price you can find on Muscle & Strength. On Amazon it is available for as low as $ 23.99 to $ 26.99 per tub. So value is great overall. ProSupps often enough have deals going on, so keep an eye out for those.

    —-Side Effects—-
    None.

    —-Conclusion—-
As I stated in the beginning of the review; had it not been for the tolerance build up and also to a degree concerning the lack of solid pumps, I would have changed my name to Hydefan. Despite some weaknesses with weak pumps and tolerance build up I still think that this is one of the top pre workouts available in 2018. If you have in mind the fact that this is aimed primarily towards high energy and endurance, then you will appreciate the product all the more. Well recommended seen from that perspective.
