Testogen claims to be one of the best natural testosterone boosters around and states it offers a range of benefits from boosting testosterone levels to enhancing your health and physical performance.
In reality though, Testogen is a dietary supplement that looks good on the surface but won’t produce any notable effect on your free testosterone levels. In the following Testogen review, we’ll show you why that is.
Testogen is a natural supplement from Health Nutrition Limited that’s designed to boost testosterone levels and provide all the benefits that go along with that, but it falls short of the mark in all areas.
It’s made with a caffeine, chemical, dairy, filler, gluten, GMO, soy, and synthetic free formula that includes d-aspartic acid, fenugreek extract, vitamin d3, zinc, Korean red ginseng extract, boron, nettle leaf extract, magnesium, vitamin b6, vitamin k1, and bioperine.
While all of these are natural ingredients and most boost testosterone levels, the doses used are nowhere near what’s required. This leads to Testogen being a combination of ineffective and unsafe.
Costing $59.99 for a month’s supply of 120 Testogen capsules, it is also a reasonably expensive product, especially given its ineffectiveness.
Considering you can get much more effective and proven testosterone boosters like Prime Male for just slightly more, Testogen simply isn’t worth wasting your money on.
What Does Testogen Claim To Do?
Restore Natural Testosterone Levels
The symptoms of low testosterone can include fatigue and poor energy levels, weight gain, shrunken genitals, erectile dysfunction, poor sexual function and drive, reduced lean muscle mass, depression, and various other health issues.
Testogen claim their testosterone booster works in a similar way to testosterone replacement therapy. They say it can support healthy testosterone levels, helping you avoid these issues and experience greater overall health and wellbeing.
Improve Libido & Sexual Performance
Healthy testosterone levels are required for normal sexual function in all humans, but especially men.
Testogen claim their testosterone booster enhances your levels to improve your libido and sexual performance, combat issues like erectile dysfunction, and promote a healthier male reproductive system and better sperm production.
Boost Energy Levels, Muscle growth & Fat Burning
Testogen claims it stimulates testosterone production enough to enhance energy levels and muscle contractions.
This will accelerate muscle growth, preserve lean muscle mass, enhance physical performance, boost your metabolism, and promote body fat burning and prevent body fat gain.
D-aspartic acid is a version of the amino acid aspartic acid, which controls testosterone synthesis and is vital in male fertility. It can be prescribed as a short term remedy for infertile men and to athletes as a natural testosterone booster.
With 2,352 mg of d-aspartic acid present in every dose of Testogen, it’s within the useful levels. However, with the optimal dose believed to be 3,000 mg per day, there are certainly testosterone boosters on the market that make much better use of this ingredient (1).
Health Nutrition Limited also state you can use Testogen long term. Most studies agree that d-aspartic acid only works for a week to ten days at a time, so its presence will be wasted for most of the time you’re using the supplement.
Fenugreek extract is proven to increase testosterone levels, enhance libido, and improve male reproductive function. There are even studies that show it offers other benefits, like lowering blood glucose levels and combatting diabetes.
For these effects to occur, 500 to 600 mg of fenugreek extract must be consumed daily (2). This is far beyond the 40 mg present in each dose of Testogen, making its inclusion worthless.
Vitamin d3 doesn’t directly increase testosterone levels, however, a vitamin d deficiency causes low testosterone production (3). Taking a dietary vitamin d supplement therefore helps your natural testosterone production be as effective as possible.
For vitamin d3 to effect your testosterone levels, 4,000 to 5,000 mcg must be consumed each day. With Testogen containing just 50 mcg per serving, it won’t have any effect.
Zinc is a brittle metal and essential mineral that’s vital for DNA synthesis in humans, particularly in their early years.
It’s able to boost testosterone production as it stimulates the pituitary gland in the brain. This also increases the production of luteinizing hormone, which is vital for male sexual functions.
Other benefits include boosting your brain functions, immune system, and vision, speeds up your metabolic rate and physical recovery, combats viruses, and reduces inflammation and the signs of aging (4).
The 10 mg of zinc in every serving of Testogen is about right to cover off any deficiencies that would lower testosterone levels (5).
Korean Red Ginseng Extract
Korean red ginseng extract has long been used for its health benefits in traditional medicine.
Recent studies show it enhances plasma testosterone levels, improves erectile dysfunction, boosts mood, immunity, and cognitive functions, and combats conditions like diabetes, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Korean red ginseng supplementation in doses of 200 to 400 mg per day is sufficient to produce these results (6). With only 40 mg present in a serving of Testogen, it doesn’t serve any purpose.
Boron is a metal element and mineral that’s proven to boost testosterone in all humans but is particularly effective in men.
Beyond this, it also offers other health benefits, including reducing inflammation, lowering cholesterol, and improving your blood plasma, bone density, and cognitive functions.
The problem is, for boron to boost testosterone levels, you must consume at least 10 mg per day (7). This means the 8 mg present in each serving of Testogen is unlikely to be able to produce the desired effect.
Nettle Leaf Extract
Nettle leaf extract doesn’t stimulate testosterone production directly, rather, it binds to sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). As sex hormone binding globulin inhibits testosterone production, preventing it from doing so will boost your free testosterone levels exponentially.
Nettle leaf extract also has numerous other health benefits it offers, including keeping the prostate and urinary tract healthy and functioning as a powerful anti-inflammatory.
Unfortunately, at least 120mg of nettle leaf extract is required per day for it to be effective (8). With Testogen only having a third of this amount at 40 mg per serving, it will have no effect.
Magnesium supplementation positively influences anabolic hormones in the human body to increase both total and free testosterone levels. However, for this to occur, 250 to 350 mg of magnesium should be ingested each day (9).
As Testogen features only 200 mg of magnesium, its effects on testosterone concentration are likely to be very minimal.
Vitamin B6 contains 6 compounds that are responsible for 140 different coenzyme reactions in the human body between them. It’s added to testosterone boosters as it prevents oestrogen synthesis, a hormone that suppresses free testosterone and reduces testosterone levels (10).
Other benefits of vitamin b6 supplementation include better amino acid, fat, and glucose metabolism, an improved immune system, and the more effective biosynthesis of neurotransmitters in the brain.
The problem is that 1.5 mg is the safe dosage of vitamin b6, and 10 mg is the absolute maximum you should consume in a day. With Testogen containing 20 mg of vitamin b6 per serving, it’s far too strong and has the potential to be dangerous.
While some forms of vitamin k can combat symptoms of low testosterone, vitamin k1 isn’t one of them (11). This means its inclusion in Testogen is worthless in this regard. It needs to be vitamin K2.
Bioperine doesn’t boost testosterone levels but it’s put in testosterone booster supplements as it boosts the bioavailability of their other ingredients. This means the testosterone production induced by said ingredients will be enhanced even further by the presence of bioperine.
Much like with all the other ingredients in Testogen though, the dosage is insufficient. With 10 mg required for effective bioavailability enhancement, the 5 mg present per serving will produce no effect (12).
Testogen Pros & Cons
- Uses natural ingredients proven to restore normal testosterone levels
- Doesn’t include any fillers, additives or artificial ingredients
- Most ingredient doses are too small to increase testosterone levels
- Some of the dosages in the product are unsafe
- Reasonably expensive
- Serving size is quite large
Testogen Review Conclusion
Testogen has the right ingredients to boost free testosterone levels but all the doses are far from where they should be. This has led to a product that is both unsafe and ineffective at the same time.
Given that Testogen isn’t cheap either, it is a product that is simply not worth wasting your money on. You would be much better served looking at proven testosterone boosting supplements like Prime Male instead.
A great testosterone booster for men, Prime Male’s doses and ingredients are all perfect to fight low testosterone symptoms, increase free testosterone levels, and let your serum testosterone level return to normal, so you can enjoy all the benefits that go along with that.
