RPG is a Nutrient Repartitioner manufactured by Redcon1. It is meant to help the body use the macronutrients of protein, carbohydrates and fats more efficiently.
Quick SummaryHello again SR family. I have been looking into Glucose Disposal agent/Nutrient drivers for a while but never jumped in to buying one. Was it all hype? what does it actually do? I decided I had to give it a try.
IntroductionRedcon1, one of the hottest and Fastest growing supplement companies in the industry today, Just over 1 year old and their products are all over the world with a huge line of products covering almost every category. You may know the owner Aaron Singerman from his days at Blackstone Labs, As far as we know he is still apart of that company along with many others, but Redcon1 is his stand alone line, the one he puts most of his direct attention into.
RPG. Glucose Disposal Agent allegedly used to help transport Carbohydrates into the muscle cell in a controlled manner. When digesting carbs your pancreas will release insulin, but if the Insulin is spiked too rapidly oversaturating the muscle which then causes "spillover" into fat cells to be stored as energy for later on. RPG keeps this transport under control to allegedly keep your body in a much greater anabolic state.

Taste/Mixability/DosingTaste - N/A
Mixability - N/A
Dosing - Individually some of the ingredients are underdosed like the Chromium, Banaba, R-ALA, BUT you should know that all of the ingredients are to work together in a synergistic way, having each individual ingredient brought up to daily efficacious doses may have a negative effect to your body or a counter effect to the other ingredients.
EffectivenessDepending on the GDA some say to take it pre-workout with your fast digesting Carb supplement.
With Redcon1 i would not go higher than 1 serving/day and usually took it just before ingesting a high carb meal which is normally post workout or Dinner.
I will warn that you HAVE TO ingest carbs closely after taking this supplement, around the 20-30min mark after taking the supplement I could definitely feel my blood sugar crashing, making me nauseous and light headed. Which is the first sign that the product is work.
Now the weight on the scale didnt drop, but a couple weeks in i could visually see my body getting leaner/harder. My body was also looking fuller almost all day, The pump was very good and long lasting, to me thats another sign that the carbohydrates are being shuttled into my muscles at a good lasting pace.
ValueIn Canada the product at face value is a little pricey, but compared to other GDAs it is very fairly priced. Average is around $69.99 - $79.99 making this $1.16/serve - $1.33/serve.
Side EffectsNothing to report here of any concern. There is no bloating that you might expect with other cheaper GDAs
The only issue was the nausea if I didnt ingest any Carbs after taking the supplement.
ConclusionThis product is not an invitation to eat any sort or amount of carbs throughout the day. As i put in most of my reviews, this is another tool inside the tool box along with good nutrition and exercise. As GDAs are relatively new to the market compared to other supplements I do not know if there would be any issue staying on a GDA year round. I personally and going to cycle this to 2x a year. When i start my cut and when i start my Winter Season as those are 2x when body recomposition goals are focused on.
IntroductionI'm a powerlifter and I just started my off season last month. Current goals are to build as much muscle and strength as I can without exceeding my weight class (84kg).
Ingredient ProfileRPG is a glucose disposal agent from Redcon1. Glucose Disposal Agents are used to help the body utilize carbs more effectively. They're often taken with high carb meals that are not peri-workout (as workouts improve insulin sensitivity on their own and some GDAs can inhibit mTOR).
One serving is four capsules which gives us:
1g Gymnema Sylvestre- GS is an herb from Southeast Asia. It can help reduce cholesterol levels, blood glucose levels, and triglycerides. It may require chronic use (vs. working acutely), but more research on this is needed. 1g is a good dose.
500mg Cinnamon Bark Extract (30% Polyphenols)- Cinnamon has an anti-diabetic effect. It can reduce insulin levels and improve insulin sensitivity. RPG uses Cassia Cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon is preferable due to its lower couramin levels (a toxin). A common dose is 1-6g, but that's for pure cinnamon; not an extract. 500mg is reasonable for a more concentrated extract
300mg Berberine (95%)- Berberine is an anti-diabetic agent that rivals some pharmaceuticals in terms of efficacy. It can lower blood glucose levels, insulin levels, and HbA1c (which is associated with type 2 diabetes). A common dose for berbrine is 900mg/day divided in 3 doses. You don't want to take too much at at time as it can make you ill.
100mg R-ALA -Alpha lipoic acid can help reduce some of the symptoms of diabetes. A common dose is 300-600mg a day. RPG is a little light as it only offers 200mg per serving (including the NA-R-ALA below)
100mg Na-R-ALA -This is just R-ALA bonded with sodium
60mg Banaba Leaf Extract (2% Corosolic Acid)- It can reduce blood glucose levels. A common dose is 3000mg of the Banaba Leaf. The dose can be smaller if the extract is more concentrated. Results have been seen with as little as .4mg Corosolic acid, and since RPG offers 1.2mg Corosolic Acid/serving, I think that the dose here is sufficient.
25mg Paradoxine- Paradoxine is a trademarked ingredient from Bestcom Biotech (extracted from Grains of Paradise). It purportedly turns white adipose tissue (WAT) into brown adipose tissue (BAT), making it easier to burn away. Studies have used 30-40mg/day successfully, so this product is a bit light.
5mg Biotin 99%- It's an essential vitamin often used to support hair and nail growth. There's a possibility that it may help with glucose metabolism, but there is insufficient data on humans to substantiate this. 5mg is more than sufficient
Taste/Mixability/DosingThe pills had no taste.
There's no mixability factor either.
I used 4 capsules each time. The directions say not to exceed 4 capsules (although you can use 2 capsules if you're only eating 25g of carbs).
Given the formula, I thought 2 capsules would be insufficient. Also, I only used RPG at my higher carb meals, 40-60g, so there was no reason for me to just use 2 capsules.
EffectivenessI found RPG to be a pretty effective GDA. I usually took it right before dinner, but when I took it earlier, e.g. 15-30 minutes before dinner, I could actually feel my blood sugar levels falling and it made me a bit woozy. That means it works, but I wouldn't recommend actually doing that.
My weight was pretty steady over the past few months (about 172lbs +/- 2lbs), but I can tell through pictures and videos that my arms and legs have been getting leaner.
Also, I've had no bloating/fatigue issues, which is sometimes a problem for me when I eat too many carbs at once (can't help it really, I love pasta, and potatoes, and all carbs)
ValueThe value here is pretty high. RPG is one of the better GDAs on the market, and it's at a moderate price.
Although, a tub usually goes for about $60 ($1/serving), you can find it for less. I paid $40 for my tub (.67/serving), and one store has it for $41 right now.
The cheaper GDAs on the market, for the most part, aren't very well dosed.
There was one cheaper product that I found comparable in quality to RPG (was about $.50/serving), but it's been out of stock for over a month, so I'm not sure if it's coming back.
The other products that I found comparable to RPG costed more (over $1.5/serving), so if you're looking for best value, RPG should definitely be on your shortlist.
Side EffectsA bit of wooziness (if you take it too early before your meal).
ConclusionI enjoyed my run with RPG and would recommend it to those in the market for a GDA.
Introduction38 years old, active duty army, and I lift 4-5 days a week. I have been running a REDCON1 stack and this will be my third review in that stack. I had never taken a Nutrient Repartitioner before, so was really unsure of what to expect and was not even sure I would notice any benefits this was giving me. I figured since I am running a bunch of REDCON1 products, then this may as well be my first one. Lets see how Regulate & Partition Glucose (RPG) did for me. On a side note I was glad this RPG did not stand for Rocket Propelled Grenade.
Ingredient ProfileAs with all their other products I have seen and tried, REDCON1 provides a fully disclosed label. Since this is a new supplement for me, I will lay out the ingredients and their use as a nutritent partitioner. These are all based off one dose (4 pills).
Chromium (300mcg):This is an essential mineral. It regulates glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Supplementing more than the body needs does not give reliable results. Typical doses are 1,000mcg taken twice a day, so here the dose is a bit low, but you can also find Chromium in food.
Biotin 99% (5mg):Biotin is one of the essential B vitamins used by the body primarily as an enzymatic cofactor. While it is popular as a beauty supplement for hair, skin, and nails and very preliminary evidence suggests it may have a role in these uses, its role is not well supported. Biotin's general role as an enzymatic cofactor has also led to some research suggesting it may interact with glucose metabolism in the human body. Not much is really known however beyond its role as a beauty supplement.
Gymnema Sylvestre Powder (1g): This is a woody climbing shrub native to India and Africa. The leaves are used to make medicine and the hindi name for this, gurmar, means "destroyer of sugar." Gymnema contains substances that decrease the absorption of sugar from the intestine, and may also increase the amount of insulin in the body and increase the growth of cells in the pancreas. As usual there is insufficient evidence to support this and no information on proper doses.
Bitter Melon Powder (500mg):: Bitter melon contains a chemical that acts like insulin to help reduce blood sugar levels. Again proper dosing here is unknown.
Cinnamon Bark Extract (500mg): We all know what cinnamon is and it may increase blood flow and contains a chemical that might work like insulin to lower blood sugar. However, these effects are thought to be fairly weak. Proper dosing is unknown.
Berbeine HCI 95% (300mg): This is a compound extracted from a variety of herbs. It is supplemented for its anti-diabetic effects, which rival the potency of some pharmaceuticals. Standard dose here is 900 - 2,000mg daily divided into three to four doses. High doses of this can cause an upset stomach, cramping, and diarrhea, so I am glad that its dosed a bit low. This is one of the few supplement ingredients out there that has proven to be effective according to Examine.com.
R-Alpha Lipoic Acid (100mg) / R-Alpha Lipoic Acid Sodium (100mg): ALA is a fatty acid present in the mitochondria. It is involved in energy metabolism and may decrease blood glucose acutely. It is commonly taken with L-Carnitine supplements, as they are related in mechanisms. ALA provides a short but potent reduction of oxidation by increasing anti-oxidant enzymes. Standard doses here are 300-600mg and if you take this twice a day as directed then you are getting 400mg of ALA total.
Banaba Leaf Extract (60mg): Lagerstroemia, also known as Banaba, is a plant whose leaves have been used for anti-diabetic purposes. It contains a variety of molecules such as corosolic acid which may confer benefit to glucose control. It can inhibit uptake (digestion and absorption) of carbohydrates to a degree, and can also aid in their deposition into cells from the blood stream (resulting in a reduction in blood sugar). Recommended dose here is 3,000mg but research is unsure at this point if that truly is the optimal dose. If the standard dose holds true then this is dosed low in my opinion.
Paradoxine (25mg): Known as Grains of Paradise, not much information is even known about this if it works or not. It is taken as a stimulant. I could not find much on this ingredient.
Overall, the ingredients here all serve a purpose and I really do not see any filler ingredients. Sure some may be under dosed, but all in all its not a bad profile for a Nutrient Repartitioner. I have included a picture of the label so you can get the exact details on the specifics of each ingredient as well.
Taste/Mixability/DosingTaste/Mixability: These are pills so there is nothing to it. The pills did not have a weird taste or anything and I swallowed them just fine.
Dosing: The directions call for taking 4 pills with high carb meals, twice a day. Do not exceed 8 pills a day. I took this during breakfast and lunch, since I do not have any carbs (mostly) after lunch. I would only dose this when I did have a meal with carbs, as I did not want to waste my time taking this if I was not eating any carbs, so at times the time of day varied when I took it.
EffectivenessSo this is a tough one to gauge the effectiveness since I really cannot see whats going on inside my body. I cannot say that my more leaner look nor my muscle fullness is from RPG, as I took creatine and Halo (Laxogenin) with this in a stack. What I can say is that taking RPG prior to a high carb meal, I would not feel bloated and have that "Oh I must lay down" tired feeling after carbs. Typically for lunch I will eat a rice a roni to go bowl, and I tend to get tired beyond that, but with RPG carbs never slowed me down. So yes, I can say that it did work for me, as it at least felt as if the carbs were being converted into energy versus fat storage. I did not gain any extra fat or anything crazy while on this, so I do believe it did its job.
This is obviously not as sexy as a PWO or something along those lines, but I can see the benefit now of having a nutrient repartitioner in your stack. Especially if you are like me and love your carbs, they are not the enemy, don't always believe the mainstream diet hype.
ValueI bought this from REDCON1's website for $59.99 for 240 capsules or 60 servings. This can last you either 30 or 60 days depending on how you dose it and how many carbs you eat. This boils down to 1 dollar per use. REDCON1 tends to have quite a bit of sales, just the other day I got an email for 30% off RPG for one day only. I'll pump you up.com has this currently for $49.95 and Amazon for $51.95, so you really don't have to pay as much as I did for this. Searching around at other nutrient repartitioners this is a little bit higher in price, but if you snag it on sale or don't eat 2 carb meals a day then the value increases. I thought the value was pretty decent here as the product works, and appears to have a unique set of ingredients in the profile versus other nutrient repartitioners.
Side EffectsNone at all. I never took this without eating some sort of carbs in my meal, so unsure what would happen if you did, but I am guessing nothing.
ConclusionOverall, I am happy with running RPG as my first nutrient repartitioner. That is one of the reasons I chose to do a REDCON1 stack (9 supplements total) so I could branch out from some of the more common supplements I take to see the benefits. I would highly recommend this product for anyone in the market, especially if you can grab it on sale! Also I like the mini tub the pills come in, makes it easier to reach in and grab pills as needed. Well done here REDCON1.
IntroductionWhat's up SR, here is another Momo1 review on a Nutrient Repartitioner from Redcon1 called RPG. This is the first time I have used any product that helps funnels carbs to be utilized as energy and muscle building. During the past 6 weeks, I was taking Redcon1's MRE, which I reviewed here. For those who have used MRE, the carb content is high, especially if you take the full fours scoops for one servings. I wanted to see how my body would benefit from using carbs as my friend not my enemy.
Ingredient ProfileAs always with Redcon1 products, RPG is fully disclosed. There are arrays of ingredients that you get with RPG, are a couple:
Gymenma Sylvestre - There is 1 grams per servings and this improves insulin functions by decreasing blood sugar levels. As we know, high sugar levels can put a lot of strain on the pancreas, and can cause us to gain fat.
Bitter Melon - There is 500 mg and this is used to help with tissue inflammation and helps the liver reduce the chances of glycogen formation.
Berberine - There is 300 mg and this is used for lowering blood sugar glucose and helping the muscle absorb more glucose
R-Alpha Lipoic Acid Sodium - There is 100 mg and this helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels
Paradoxine - There is 25 mg and this is a unique ingredient that is helps the body to use fat for energy and it is useful for reducing glucose levels.
The profile on RPG is one that I have not seen on other similar products, but the common goal for all the ingredients in RPS is to limit any insulin spiking caused by high consumption of Complex and Simple Carbs. In addition, RPG assists the body to fill the muscle with as much glucose as possible to grow. Insulin is one of the most anabolic agents that most body builders use to add their size, along with their stack.
Taste/Mixability/DosingTaste - These are capsules and if you try to open them up and mix them with your shake or drink, it will be bitter as hell; of course, I had to try LOL
Mix - There is nothing to mix, since you just pop the capsules
Dosing - This is where I had to play with it, you are to take it with your higher carb drink or meal. I started by taking it before the higher carb meal; however, I decided to take it after my carb meal, which I will explain in the effectiveness section of my review. One serving is four (4) capsules and there are 60 servings in one tub of RPG; occasionally I would have 2 high carb meals so I would use 2 servings.
EffectivenessRPG really delivers on what it is intended for. Normally, whenever I eat anything that is considered high carb, I breakout in a sweat; I get the same reaction with cheap red wine. However, when I took my serving of RPG, I noticed that I was not sweating at all after eating my cheat day meal, which is pizza! This was immediately after my first serving that I noticed the affect; therefore, RPG is not a product that you have to wait to see if it is working. As for some additional affects, after about 7 days of taking RPG, I noticed that my body was always pumped, which was nice when I walked around the office showing off my guns LOL. One thing I did notice, my sugar cravings were almost eliminated. I have a sweet tooth from hell, it is my only weakness; put a chocolate bar in front of me and it's like making it rain at a strip joint!
As for the claim that RPG, along with similar products, will help with losing weight while consuming carbs, I did lose about 3 lbs., and my shoulders were more defined. In addition, I did put on some muscle mass and this was not due to the pumped all day feeling I had; I filled in my polo shirts a lot better. Furthermore, I did notice an increase in my strength while in the gym, nothing to make a big noise about, but a couple of extra pounds on the bench were nice.
