Top tier whey protein at an affordable price
    —-Quick Summary—-

—-Introduction—-I have been training for over twenty years and over that time I have developed a considerable amount of insight in regards to training and dietary supplementation. Over the past few years supplementreviews.com has been my go to site to find out about the latest products from my fellow fitness freaks. After years of using the site I’ve decided to contribute.

—-Ingredient Profile—-ON’s Gold Standard 100% whey protein delivers 24 grams of high quality whey protein by way of a blend (whey protein isolates, whey protein concentrate and whey peptides). As an added bonus one serving also includes 5.5 grams of branch chain amino acids along with 4 grams of glutamine and glutamic acid. It packs 120 calories per serving, with only 15 calories coming from fat; all the while maintaining a delicious taste in spite of only 2 grams of sugar per serving.

—-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-The taste is truly impressive, especially considering how little sugar is used. It tastes good with water, but I myself prefer to use milk. In my opinion it tastes better and the extra protein content doesn’t hurt either! If I’m coming off of a very heavy training session I’ll often make a smoothie using the Gold Standard, with some fruit, milk, peanut butter and steel cut oats. No matter which method I used, it mixes well and tastes great.

—-Effectiveness—-Gold Standard whey really shines when it comes to effectiveness. With a profile of 24 grams of protein, 5.5 grams of branch chain amino acids, and 4 grams of glutamine & glutamic acid it helps recovery on a variety of fronts. I have noticed a difference in my recovery time when I supplement my diet with a whey protein, and with all of the different companies I’ve tried I truly prefer Gold Standard.

—-Value—-The value is also excellent. I often buy the 5 lb tub at my local supplement shop for about $55, which takes the cost per serving to roughly 77 cents. I find this to be a great value for a supplement that truly delivers on it’s product.

—-Side Effects—-No negative side effects to speak of.

—-Conclusion—-At under a dollar per serving this product truly performs. I would recommend Optimum Nutrition‘s Gold Standard 100% whey to anyone involved in any sort of physical training. It works great and your body will thank you for it.

    Extremely Reliable Whey Product
    —-Quick Summary—-
ON’s Whey is definitely the most popular whey protein, so that is the first supplement I ever bought upon searching up “protein powder” when I first started. It is consistently good amongst all aspects of it that puts it at the top of the whey industry.

I remember when I first started working out and learning about supplements, this is the one I ran into all the time. I saw it anywhere and everywhere: online, friends had it, people in the gym had it, even grandmas probably take this product… So, this was the first whey product I purchased, was happy with it at first, and then decided to experiment with other companies before eventually coming back to this product once again. I learned that there are other products that include solely whey isolate or hydrolysate (which is more pure than the concentrate that ON includes), as well as higher amounts of BCAAs and glutamine. But, when you take into account the price, taste, and overall quality, I’d still say that this is one of my favorites.

    —-Ingredient Profile—-
It contains 24g of protein (A blend of whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, and whey peptides). Whey protein isolate being the first ingredient is great, as it is the purer version and means that there is more isolate and concentrate in this. There is 130 mg of sodium, 3 grams of carbs, and 1.5 grams of fat. It contains 120 calories per serving.
The protein also has 5.5 grams of naturally occurring BCAAs and 4 grams of glutamine/glutamic acid, which are both helpful in recovery and is not always in other whey products.

This product’s taste is basically always good and exactly as you would expect. Amongst the multiple flavors I’ve tried, I haven’t had a problem with any one of them, although some were better for me than others. I almost always drink it with milk, but during the few times I tried it with water, it didn’t taste as good. I couldn’t tell if it was just because I wasn’t used to it or if it legitimately tasted not as good, but I find that most whey products are like this for me. You really can’t go wrong and get a batch that’s hard to swallow down.
The powder mixes fine; no problems with that either.
In terms of dosing, I always have a serving post-workout, but I sometimes use it as a mini-snack, or before work shake.

This is no doubt an effective product. It helped me recovery faster, feel less fatigued the day after, and overall gain more mass. It made me feel more filled and satisfied after my workouts, rather than completely exhausted. This product is truly fine regardless of what your goals are, whether it is to gain mass or lose fat. Its formula is pure enough for someone to use, and its relatively cheap price allows bulkers to use more scoops without feeling their wallet burn out.

I always order the 5 lb size, which is $57.99 on Bodybuilding.com, equating to 78 servings or $0.79 per serving. That’s a pretty great serving size price, but even better than that, there are constantly deals floating around, particularly on BB.com. In fact, I always wait for it to go on sale before I buy it because that is how common it is.
The only time I’ll choose a different product is if I want a pure whey isolate/hydrolysate formula if I have more cash to spend.

    —-Side Effects—-

This is one of the best products in the market. No matter what you are grading this product upon: ingredient profile, taste, price, etc., this will be one of the top ones across any of those aspects. I’d recommend this to anyone who is new or advanced, as it is good across the board. Whenever I am looking for a reliable, high quality whey protein product, I’ll definitely be able to lean back to this one.

    All-time Bestseller Not By Accident
    —-Quick Summary—-
If you are new to supplement world, you can start from here.

Optimum Nutrition‘s Gold Standard Whey is most well-known and widespread supplement throughout the world. I’ve not consumed any supplements before and felt a bit nervous when tried for the first time. After years of training and working on a sedentary job, I understood that I couldn’t bear such lifestyle anymore and decided to give a try to something new. That’s when I decided to join supplements world and decided to start with best-know/best-seller protein, rich enough of nutrients, naturally occurring Glutamine and BCAAs.

As you see it contains 24 grams of protein, a standard dose for most of whey products. Even tough Whey Protein Isolate is written largely on label, but still contains some portion of Protein Blend and it’s not only one on market… Most of whey manufacturers do so. Also it contains 5.5 Grams of Naturally Occurring BCAAs, 4 grams of Glutamine and Glutamic Acid, which are completely enough to recover and promote muscle growth.

More than 20 Different Flavors are available, making it suitable for any taste and as a big lover of chocolate, I mostly consumed Extreme Milk Chocolate and Double rich chocolate, both very delicious! I mixed one scoop with 0.5 liters of water and drank immediately after work out, but still seemed a bit sweet for me. If you are looking for gaining weight, then 2 scoops are also good. There were some issues with mixability, I needed to shake very well, but never mixed with water completely and it was enough to leave shake for 30-40 minutes, sands like sediments appear at the bottom…

Very first thing that I noticed after drinking this powder was quick recover. I used to do heavy cardio and resistant exercises for Kickboxing three times per week, late night. Usually on rest days I still felt tired and had no desire to exercise, but ON Whey helped to rest well and I was ready to try some spartan workouts at home, in addition to this I was more motivated to go harder on following kickboxing classes. After purchasing second and large jar of protein, I converted to only weight lifting and my muscles started to grow much more easier than ever before and became noticeable to others as well.

I purchased fewest servings packet as an experiment for my body, costed $16.99 ($1.21 Per Serving). But since this is most widespread product for bodybuilding, uncountable number of deals and sales are available all over the world. For example, in my country you can purchase 146 serving for nearly $100 ($0.68 per serving) from local large supplements shop.

    —-Side Effects—-
Caused bloating and gas after first use. I won’t say this was ON’s fault, because I’m lactose sensitive and I need to stick to protein powders which are either purest form of isolate (lactose free) or have added digestive enzymes. This is standard whey and safe for majority, but I absolutely dislike the idea of writing Whey Protein Isolate, while

This is obviously high quality protein powder and suitable for most of bodybuilders. But beware to purchase real and genuine ON product, as lots of fake powders appeared last years and you can see many articles and videos about them (differentiating) on youtube. Can’t recommend if you are lactose intolerant or have any health issues, I’d prefer to use purest production of whey isolate. Meeting daily protein requirement is essential for burning fat, but it’s label directly say: “For use as a dietary supplement only. Do not use for weight reduction”, so I personally wouldn’t recommend it as a meal replacement. Also it’s the cheapest powder for it’s quality, yes there are lots of cheaper products on the internet, but as I already mentioned several times, it’s most widespread protein powder around the globe and much more discounts and cheaper ON Whey products are available at local supplements stores.
