Grenade Thermo Detonator Review

Weight-management pills, otherwise known as fat burners, tend to have a dodgy reputation in the nutritional supplement space.

That’s because a lot of companies come and go, promising miracle weight-loss cures that require no effort on your part. When they inevitably don’t work, fat burner products as a whole are given a bad name.

That’s a shame, as there are a lot of reputable nutritional supplement companies out there offering viable products that can help you reach your weight loss goals. Grenade is one of them, and while Thermo Detonator may not be the best fat burner for men it is worth considering.

In our Grenade Thermo Detonator review, we will do just that, taking into account the product’s ingredients, the science behind each one, as well as its cost and safety.

Grenade Thermo Detonator Review: Quick Take

Pros:

  1. Strong doses of green tea and cayenne, proven fat burners

  3. Mostly positive customer reviews

Cons:

  1. Many complaints of poor customer service
  2. No money-back guarantee
  3. Too much caffeine
  4. Low doses of green coffee
  5. Concerns over bitter orange powder’s safety and efficacy

What Is Grenade Thermo Detonator?

Thermo Detonator is a weight-management supplement for men and women formulated and manufactured by Grenade, a UK-based sports nutrition company that’s been in the game for more than ten years.

Its centrepiece fat burner product, Grenade Thermo Detonator, is designed to be used in conjunction with a healthy, calorie-controlled diet and a regular exercise regime, in particular pre-cardio and endurance training. Grenade claims this product will increase your energy levels and focus to get the most out of your workouts, while also boosting your metabolism to maximise fat loss and achieve a lean physique.

Grenade Thermo Detonator Ingredients

Grenade Thermo Detonator contains a blend of six key ingredients, all of which are natural but, due to the gelatin capsule housing the product, it is not suitable for vegetarians. Many of the ingredients in Thermo Detonator are common in other fat burner products, but others are a little surprising and the doses of a few could be problematic for some people.

Before getting into the ingredients, it’s also worth noting the absence of essential vitamins and minerals, such as zinc and vitamin D, which are commonly found in other fat burners due to the crucial role they play in various important bodily processes.

Green Tea 500 mg

Perhaps the main active ingredient in Grenade Thermo Detonator, green tea is an effective weight loss aid due to the presence of catechins, a potent antioxidant that triggers the production of norepinephrine, a fat-burning hormone. [1] High levels of norepinephrine mean that even while resting, your body is burning through fat.

Green tea also contains L-theanine, a natural compound believed to improve concentration and sleep quality. In theory, this should help you focus during workouts and get a better sleep afterwards, but the quantities of L-theanine are probably not high enough to make a significant difference.

Bitter Orange Extract Powder 420 mg

Bitter orange extract is included for the presence of synephrine, a phytochemical structurally similar to ephedrine which has been banned from use in dietary supplements by the UK and the USA.

Indeed, like ephedrine, synephrine raises your blood pressure and can cause cardiovascular stress, especially in overweight people who are, of course, a large part of Grenade’s target market.

Aside from potential safety risks, bitter orange powder is not a great addition to Grenade Thermo Detonator as many of the studies touting synephrine’s metabolism boosting properties involve mice, and research suggests these effects are far more pronounced in rodents than in humans. [2]

Caffeine 225 mg

Grenade Thermo Detonator contains a hefty dose of caffeine to boost your energy, focus, and metabolism so that you work harder at the gym and derive more benefits from your exertions. A 2017 meta-analysis of studies concerning caffeine and weight management concluded it may well promote weight and body fat reduction. [3]

However, does Grenade Thermo Detonator go a bit too far with its caffeine dose? A strong cup of coffee usually contains around 112.5 mg of caffeine. One serving of Thermo Detonator contains double this, and it is recommended to take two servings per day for best results. At the very least, you need to be aware of your caffeine intake from other sources if you’re using Grenade Thermo Detonator.

Cayenne 200 mg

Cayenne pepper has thermogenic properties, meaning it helps speed up your metabolism and suppresses your appetite. [4]

This is thanks to the presence of capsaicin, a compound that raises your body’s core temperature which triggers a cooling response. This means you burn more calories throughout the day. As for its appetite-suppression effects, it’s believed this may be due to an increase in sympathetic nervous system activity.

Phenylalanine 25 mg

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid included primarily for promoting greater focus and improved mood, but it is also believed to help stimulate whole-body fat oxidation. [5]

However, the results of this study are tentative, involve a small sample of participants, and concern a much higher dose of phenylalanine than you’ll find in Grenade Thermo Detonator.

The jury’s also out on how effective it is at promoting greater focus, but research into its anti-depressive properties is promising. [6] Again though, this research was conducted with doses of phenylalanine ten times greater than what is in Grenade Thermo Detonator.

Green Coffee 10 mg

Green coffee beans contain high concentrations of chlorogenic acids which help to lower the amount of glucose in your liver. As a result, your body turns to fat stores for energy instead.

A meta-analysis on the weight loss effects of green tea revealed moderate but significant benefits, [7] while a separate study on overweight individuals found more dramatic impacts but at doses that far surpass the measly 10 mg contained in Grenade Thermo Detonator. [8]

How Do I Use Grenade Thermo Detonator?

Each serving comprises two capsules, and the manufacturer recommends taking one serving first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and then another two just before lunch or a training session.

If you’re using it for the first time, Grenade advises starting with one capsule at a time for a week or so to assess how your body will react.

Does Grenade Thermo Detonator Work?

Grenade Thermo Detonator will boost your metabolism and help your burn fat, thanks mainly to the presence of green tea and cayenne, but its overall effectiveness is inhibited by some of the other ingredients and the dosages.

Green coffee, for instance, could be a potent way to rid your body of excess glucose but there’s just not enough of it to have a significant impact. The same could be said of phenylalanine.

Perhaps of more concern though is the inclusion of bitter orange, in particular synephrine. Its efficacy, as well as its safety, is in question so it’s not clear why Grenade wants to use it.

Another issue with Grenade Thermo Detonator is the absence of a truly effective appetite suppressant, such as glucomannan. It’s one thing to burn more calories and fat, but if you end up overeating anyway then the benefits will be marginal.

  1. What Do Customers Think of Grenade Thermo Detonator?

Grenade Thermo Detonator reviews on Amazon are mostly positive, with many reporting impressive weight loss within months of first using the product. A significant number though claim it yielded no benefits for them, even when used alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise. Others also note poor customer service from the team at Grenade.

Indeed, it seems Grenade Thermo Detonator is not for everyone. Aside from being ineffective for some, many customers complain of health issues after using this weight loss supplement, which we’ll detail now below.

Is Grenade Thermo Detonator Safe To Use?

While Grenade is a reputable company manufacturing its products in GMP-certified facilities using natural ingredients, there are some safety concerns.

First, pregnant or lactating women should not use this product, nor should anyone with high blood pressure or who’s using any other prescribed medication. If you have concerns, you should speak to your doctor.

These recommendations stem partly from Grenade Thermo Detonator’s high caffeine content, which many customers note left them feeling jittery and unable to sleep well. The presence of synephrine is another concern, as it is associated with high blood pressure and, indeed, a significant number of customers complained of heartburn after using Thermo Detonator.

At the very least, take the manufacturer’s advice and start slowly with one capsule to assess your tolerance before moving up to two at a time.

How Much Does Grenade Thermo Detonator Cost?

A box of 100 capsules normally costs £45, with free UK delivery on all orders over £35. At the time of writing, Grenade is offering a 33 percent discount and you can also make some savings if you buy in bulk.

Unfortunately, there is no money-back guarantee on Grenade Thermo Detonator.

Grenade Thermo Detonator Review: A Summary

Grenade Thermo Detonator set the bar high for weight loss supplements when it first came on the market ten or so years ago. And it still offers good value for many people looking to supplement their diet and exercise to achieve their fitness goals, lose weight, and increase their lean muscle mass.

However, compared to some of the best fat burner supplements available nowadays, Grenade Thermo Detonator is starting to look a little aged, and not just because of the old-school, military-style packaging and branding.

While some of the ingredients are relatively effective, there’s not a great deal to get excited about. Indeed, the main active ingredients in Grenade Thermo Detonator are ones that you could easily find in your kitchen cupboard at home, while other potentially beneficial ingredients, like green coffee and phenylalanine, are present in much too small quantities.

The lack of a proven appetite suppressant and the absence of essential vitamins and minerals are also problems, as are the high caffeine content and the risk of blood pressure issues stemming from the inclusion of synephrine in the bitter orange extract.

Chances are if you’re already in good physical condition, the benefits of using Thermo Detonator will be negligible, while if you are a little overweight or have other health issues, then there are some safety considerations that you should first take into account.
