Blackstone Labs was founded by PJ Braun and Aaron Singerman in 2012 and is based in Boca Raton, Florida.
The co-founders also started Prime Nutrition together. Braun now runs Blackstone Labs without Singerman. Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals purchased 33% of Blackstone Labs in April 2017.
The Blackstone Labs website loudly declares the brands own products to be the “holy grail of supplements” – and they mostly appeal to “dedicated or hardcore” fitness and bodybuilding enthusiasts.
Braun says one way Blackstone Labs differs from other supplement brands is the way it makes “specific formulas for each region”. Why? Because legal complications mean that certain ingredients are more widely available in some countries than others.
From 2012 to 2013, the company brought in $200,000 in revenue. The following year its gross income grew to $1.2 million. And from 2014 to 2015, Blackstone Labs grossed $9.8 million. With this growth in mind, its perhaps no surprise that Inc magazine named Blackstone Labs #27 on its prestigious Inc 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in the United States.
The company also boasts what it calls “an incredibly strong social media presence”, with close to 200,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook at the time of writing. But the brand also declares that its popularity is down to much more than marketing. According to the brand website, Blackstone products possess “a level of distinction” which it achieves by “tirelessly poring over quality control”. This ensures it meets and exceeds market standards.
Blackstone Labs products include pre-workouts, post-workouts, muscle builders, lean gainers, and fat burners. In a “The Muscle Mogul” feature on YouTube, Braun calls Blackstone Labs the first supplement company to bring a protein ice cream to market.
The company also says that all Blackstone Labs supplements are made in facilities which comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
In addition to supplements, Blackstone Labs makes and sells branded apparel. This includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, sports bras, shakers, no-show socks and more.
