Introduction

PowerDown Amino PM was the first Muscle Elements product I have tried and I must applaud the company on their fully disclosed, transparent labeling. Right down to the sticker on the top of the container giving the user fair notice that "Vigorous shaking can cause excessive foaming" (which is true). This is clearly a company that has listened to supplement users feedback over the years and is looking to do right by the consumer. This trend is refreshing to see.

Ingredient Profile

The ingredient profile of Amino PM is rock solid in my book. From a sleep perspective, melatonin is typically always effective for me, GABA is a favorite and tryptophan always seems to work well. Behind that there's BCAA's, EAA's and a plethora of ingredients you typically find in a Post/Recovery-type supplement which is something I constantly need as the years tick by. Check out all the ingredients to the left of the reviews for all that is included in Amino PM.

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

I had the opportunity to try the Goodnight Grape flavor of Amino PM. This is a powerful and sweet grape flavor. I did not find it offensive at all and thought it was easy to drink. I did not tire of it either.
I only used this in a shaker cup and found mixing to be reasonable. As the sticker on top warned, vigorous shaking would result in quite a bit of foam. There was a graininess while drinking but this never bothers me. I've always been a shake, swirl, drink, swirl, etc kinda guy. I would rinse out the cup with about 6oz of water and drink that down after I was done. There seemed to be some valuable ingredients left behind!
Dosing was interesting on this one. I tried multiple iterations from scoop up to 2 full scoops and just about everything in between. My bodyweight is approximately 177lbs so keep that in mind when we talk about effectiveness and how it relates to the dosing.
The container recommends:
1 scoop for Regular Sleep and Repair
2 scoops for Advanced Sleep and Repair

Effectiveness

I had good days and bad days with Amino PM which kind of shocked me. I'll have to clarify what I mean by "good" and "bad" because my take may be different than what you're thinking. For a sleep aid, a "good" day is one where I take it, I get sleepy and I get a deep, full nights sleep without waking throughout the night. More often than not, this will come with the dreaded sleep hangover as well. With Amino PM I never once experienced a sleep hangover. This however, is where the "bad" comes in. I can't explain how alert and refreshed I felt upon waking when taking Amino PM. It was almost strange compared to other sleep products I've taken in the past. It was beyond just alert and more like wide awake! This was regardless of how much sleep I got. There seemed to be a meaningful window for me with respect to how long after I took this that I needed to be asleep. I found it fell at about 45mins to one hour after taking it that I should really ensure I was sleeping or prepared to be sleeping. If I missed the window, there may be some tossing and turning ahead. When I did allow myself to sleep, it was restful, for 6-8 hours, straight through and I awoke alert. If I didn't, I could find myself tossing and turning for a few hours.
Two nights in particular really stick out for me. The first, I had taken a single full scoop and didn't allow myself to really get to sleep within 45mins to an hour afterward. Reading, messing with the iPad, etc is always what will delay sleep for me. I finally put everything down and turned off the light and began to toss and turn. This was from approximately 11pm to 2am. Strangely, I felt like I had bouts of restful sleep in this time period but at 2am, I was up! I brought the iPad downstairs and watched Youtube videos for 2 hours before returning to bed at 4am. I ended up sleeping until 7:45am-ish and jumped awake like I slept all night. It was weird because I clearly didn't get a restful nights sleep but I was up and felt good. I did end up dragging a little by early evening the next day.
The second night could have been more of an anomaly because it was a travel day for me. This means up early, public transportation, flights, public transportation again, etc for 12-14hrs. The day before I traveled, I had a long day at work and took one scoop of Amino PM at about 8pm. I was up since about 5:30am that morning and needed to be up by 4am the next day. I figured I could sneak in a 6-7 hour stretch of sleep easily. Unfortunately, I remember seeing the clock hit 12:11am and think I fell asleep shortly thereafter. I awoke at 2am ready to go. Instead of fighting it, I got up, got my stuff together and was ready for a long day of traveling on somewhere just under 2 hours of sleep. Again, surprisingly, I did alright all day long. I can't sleep on planes and whenever I do actually "sleep" it's for no more than 5-10mins at a time. I did this three times on this flight but still felt decent by the time I landed. There was then an hour wait for a bus, two hour bus trip, 1.5 hour dinner and a hour ride home. Needless to say, this was a long day!
This is why I say I developed a love/hate relationship with this product. Going into it, I expected great, deep sleep. However, although I didn't always get that I did get an impressive alertness, with no hangover effect and ability to have a great day regardless of the hours of sleep I got. That was a first for me.
With all of that said, I do believe the 2 full scoop dose recommendation is proper and should be stuck with throughout. When taking 2 full scoops, I would typically (not always!) get a restful, full nights sleep without waking up until morning.

Value

Amino PM can be found online from about $35 to $42. It's not the cheapest sleep aid out there but then again, other sleep aids aren't packed with all the additional ingredients that Amino PM has either. Keeping that in mind, I felt the pricing was reasonable for what you get. From less than $1 per serving to just over $2 per serving based on your needs. I personally would recommend the 2 scoop serving at no more than 5 days per week. Using Amino PM this way would get you a solid months worth of use.

Side Effects

The biggest side effect as noted above is the amazing alertness I felt upon waking - regardless of what time of night it was. Other sleep aids would typically have me stumbling to the bathroom in the dark with my head spinning.

----Conclusion---
Amino PM has a great profile and is worth trying if you need sleep aids like I do. Judging by the other reviews it seems that it could really just be me, my age, etc that has the odd effect of waking up fully alert in the middle of the night.

    Introduction

Prosolution Plus was a product offered up some time ago with a slew of others that fell into what I perceive as a mildly sketchy, infomercial, spammy email offering-type of product. There are so many similar products out there with outrageous claims and I'm inclined to believe they're just somebody's marketing ploy to try and make a few bucks. Prosolution Plus doesn't deviate far from these other products from a marketing perspective but it may have produced some results.

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Prosolution Plus is in pill form and comes in a box with blister-packed sheets. The directions are simple: 2 pills per day and an optional 2 more prior to sexual activity. I took the 2 per day and on a couple occasions took 2 more a few hours prior to sexual activity. It is important to note that I did not use and finish this product over one consecutive period of time. I was travelling extensively away from home and only used this while I was home. There was often weeks between usage.

    Effectiveness

Well, this is hard to judge. It may have worked a little. I'm assuming most men my age have had experience with legitimate, pharmaceutical grade PDE5 inhibitors and can attest to their effectiveness. Prosolution Plus is NOT comparable to those products. However, there were occasions where it felt like there was a little more pep and vigor involved in the act if you know what I'm saying. The flip side of that though, is I was travelling and away for weeks at a time so when got back home I was jonesing for some quality time with the wife. Any perceived effectiveness I felt from this product very well could have been a placebo effect due to my travelling/time away. Also, when reviewing the claims on the products web page, I can't say it "nailed" any of the 5 highlighted points:
    - Always Interested and Able To Perform
    - A Bigger, Harder Erection
    - More Stamina & Control
    - Great Intensity to Orgasms
    - A Natural Alternative to Prescription ED Pills
Regardless, the next review category will clearly identify that even if this was an effective product, it is absolutely not worth it in my eyes.

    Value

Prosolution Plus appears to only be available through the Leading Edge Health website. You can pick up one box of 60 pills, a 30 day supply or less based on recommended dosing, for $59.95. The options only go up from there to an astronomical level:
    2 months supply $109.95
    3 months supply $154.95
    4 months supply $199.95
    5 months supply $244.95
    6 months supply $289.95
    12 months supply $399.95

The further up the price scale you go, the more "gifts" you receive with your order. Gifts like: the "Erection System" (no idea), Prosolution Gel and "Volume Pills. As I'm sure you can guess, all additional derivatives of the typical male enhancement product.
No matter how I look at those numbers above compared to any perceived results, they're absurd. I would not buy these. If I absolutely needed a male enhancement product my money could be far better spent elsewhere (i.e.: via a doctors visit, co-pay and prescription) and still either fall in-line with or be more reasonable than these figures above.

    Side Effects

I experienced no negative side effects from Prosolution Plus. The pills themselves have an "herbal" taste to them but aside from that, nothing to speak of.

    ----Conclusion---
Prosolution Plus seems to just be another member of the over-hyped male enhancement market. I get it and understand that there's a huge market out there for these types of things as evidenced by Viagra, Cialis, etc however, these kinds of products seem to only prey on those who either don't know better or don't know how to get a legitimate male enhancement product.

I found there to be a level of quality with these that I have yet to find with any other bar. Read on for details, but I'd encourage anyone to give these a shot.

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

I eat a lot of bars and do consider taste as an important component. You'll notice in many of my other reviews, specifically with powdered products, taste isn't a huge concern for me. Bars however, are a different story. I like to enjoy what I'm eating!
These certainly don't disappoint. I was fortunate to try the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Almond Chocolate Chip. Both tasted great and really had a "fresh" or "clean" taste to them. By that, I mean you could clearly tell these were made from all natural ingredients and you could taste all the nuances of each ingredient. Something that can't be accomplished with a mass produced, not 100% natural product. I would liken this aspect to eating a salad on its own without any dressing, etc. Once you start doing that you can really taste and appreciate all the ingredients in their natural state. These bars are absolutely a joy to eat.

    Effectiveness

Effectiveness for a bar (for me) comes down to: Does it satisfy my hunger? Does it taste decent? Does it provide me with quality nutrition? Good2Go bars do all these for me and realistically, more so than essentially any other bar I've had. The primary thing that puts these bars at the top of the list for me is the quality - the ability to literally taste the natural ingredients within each bar. I'm sure most of us can agree that Quest bars have been a favorite in the past due to their awesome flavoring. I still enjoy and purchase Quest bars however, they have that "mass produced" feel to them like my other go-to bars from over the years: Met-Rx,Clif Builders bars and the other $2-ish bars you can find at Walmart and supermarkets.

    Value

You can find Good2Go bars for sale on their website for $19.99 for a box of 8. They have free shipping on orders over $100. Assuming you make a purchase that qualifies for free shipping, your per bar cost is $2.49. From my perspective, this is $0.53 more than a MetRx bar at Walmart and absolutely worth the extra pennies. There's just no comparison.
It currently appears that the only area to purchase Good2Go bars off the shelf is in Utah. I would suspect however, that it won't be too long before Good2Go finds much wider distribution available to them based on the taste, quality and rave reviews these products are getting. I look forward to the day when I can find them in a market near me.

    Side Effects

I experienced no negative side effects from eating these bars. There are however, some crunchy nut bits in these and if you have sensitive teeth, you may feel it. This was not an issue for me and I just saw it as another component of being all natural.

    ----Conclusion---
Good2Go bars are excellent. One of my favorites for sure and at a level of quality that I have yet to see in a comparable product. If you enjoy natural, good tasting foods and would like to try a delicious bar, you need to give these a shot. You will not be disappointed!

      Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Both the day and night formulas were easy to swallow capsules with a simple suggested serving of (1) Day formula capsule in the morning and (1) Night formula capsule before bed. This was easy to follow and the regimen I stuck with during my trial run.

      Effectiveness

      Day Time Formula
I typically react well to Rhodiola Rosea, Bacopa and Gingko but the day time formula threw me for a loop. Within 30-40 minutes after taking a serving I would feel a "veil" of focus begin to descend which I often experience with Rhodiola Rosea specifically (more so when taken with caffeine) but, it soon turned into an awkward, uncomfortable light-headedness. This would progress mildly until I felt out of it and uninspired to do any work. Quite honestly, it felt like it had the exact opposite effect that you'd hope to get from a product like this. Around halfway through the bottle it began to be a drag taking these. I skipped a few weekend days because I wanted to have an energetic, enjoyable day rather than be tired and out of it.

      Night Time Formula
I again react well to both Green Tea (EGCG) and Picamilon however, I usually consume these during the day for an energized, focused effect. They have typically been ingredients in energizing formulas so I found it a little odd to be included in a product geared toward the evening. As somewhat expected, based on the ingredient profile and my prior results with these particular ingredients, I had difficulty falling asleep when taking this and would more often than not have a restless sleep.

Realistically, I probably would have been better served reversing the order I took these formulas in. Taking them in the recommended order as I did provided negative results and made me dread getting through the complete bottles.

      Value

Mind Boost can be found online for an insane price of $48.50 per bottle of each formula. I absolutely cannot recommend this product from a value perspective based on my experience. Perhaps if I reversed the order I took them in I would have had better results but that literally is completely backwards and still would not come remotely close to justifying the cost.

      Side Effects

The side effects, as mentioned above, were specifically the drowsy, out of it feeling I got from the Day Time formula and the overactive mind, not being able to fall asleep effects I received from the Night Time formula.

      Conclusion

The good news is that clearly these formulas are dosed well and are effective on some level. Unfortunately for me, neither hit the mark for what I was hoping to get out of Mind Boost. Unfortunately for everyone, the price is so asinine that nobody should spend their hard earned cash on this.
I can't in good conscience recommend this product.

        Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The version I had to trial was a fruit punch flavor that was pretty standard. Again, nothing flashy but not un-drinkable either. The recommended serving is a ~9.6 gram scoop of powder that mixes relatively easily. I didn't find any issues with either the taste or mixability. Per your typical pre-workout drinks, I took this 15-20 minutes prior to working out.

        Effectiveness

Effectiveness again falls into that middle of the road slot. All the normal energy, beta alanine tingles, etc was right there with what I'd consider your standard off the shelf formulas. I didn't experience any noticeably heightened focus that I'd consider ground breaking, but again, it was a reasonable product that provided energy and a boost to get through my workout. In this insanely crowded category, it didn't stick out but it worked.

        Value

Formula 1 can be found online for $25. With so many options available, I would certainly tend to migrate toward something that either had stellar, through the roof reviews or something with a unique characteristic to it. For a standard, "get you through" energy boosting pre-workout, Formula 1 can do that.

        Side Effects

I experienced no negative or otherwise side effects from Formula 1. Really a straight forward product.

        ----Conclusion---
For pre-workout products like this, it's really quite simple. If you're looking for something to try to mix things up a bit, it's worth a shot. If you're looking for something revolutionary, I would continue your search.

These were normally sized capsules with a suggested serving of (4) caps, once per day. This was an easy order to follow and I did not deviate from it during my trial run.

          Effectiveness

Unfortunately, Semenax didn't provide any noticeable results with respect to its purported claims. Semenax is specifically said to "Increase your orgasms for bigger, better, longer, more amazing ejaculations than you ever thought possible." Their website claims that Semenax is "Clinically Proven to increase semen volume and intensity." I cannot point to one time where I even thought there might be a positively augmented characteristic.
For those curious, the complete ingredient list can be found here: http://www.semenaxdirect.com/ingredients.html

          Value

Semenax sells for the absolute absurd price of $59.99 per bottle up to a whopping $399.95 for a years supply. Unfortunately, based on both my experience and the insane price point, I can't recommend it at any price or say it is a good value.

          Side Effects

Again, here as well, along with no noticeable positive effects there were also no side effects to speak of.

          Conclusion

Semenax is a gimmicky product reaching for your purse strings that I can't recommend as it provided me with no noticeable positive benefits and it did not meet its label claims.

I took this product immediately following the trial run I did for another multi-vitamin so I was able to compare them essentially head to head. Here's what I thought:

I took this product immediately following the trial run I did for another multi-vitamin so I was able to compare them essentially head to head. Here's what I thought:

            Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste and mixability were obviously not an issue here as this multi is in tablet form. They're good sized tablets but nothing I had trouble with at all. If you're used to swallowing 1,000mg tablets, fish oil caps, etc, these will be fine for you.
The serving size is (3) tablets. The directions state to take 1-3 tablets before a meal. I typically took these as: one with breakfast, one at lunch and one at dinner. There are (40) three tablet servings per container.

            Effectiveness

Multi-Vitamins are a product you don't typically "feel" when taking. The product I took immediately before this however, was one I really could feel and had noticeable, beneficial effects (please see my review history for multi-vitamins for that particular product). Based on that, I was kind of let down by Multi-Elite. I really didn't feel anything at all which again, is typical for a multi but I had high expectations at this point in time. I could tell I was augmenting my diet with a multi based on more vibrantly colored urine, but beyond that I didn't get much more out of it beyond the peace of mind that I should be getting all the nutrients I need on a daily basis.
As others have noted in their reviews, this product is loaded with ingredients (please see their reviews for an ingredient breakdown). Personally I found it to be of similar quality, composition and effectiveness of GNC's Mega Men or the old Ultra Mega series of vitamins. This is not a bad thing at all because I had used those products for many years without issue. In the realm of ever-evolving supplements however, I think CTD is capable of doing more.

            Value

Multi-Elite is very affordably priced at around $20-$23 per (40) serving container. Again, right about in line with GNC's vitamins when sold at a wholesale club which I always found to be a great deal.

            Side Effects

            None to speak of.

            Conclusion

CTD Sports Multi-Elite is a decent multi-vitamin that appears to cover all the bases.

            Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste has never been the biggest concern for me. Yes, some things are just horrific and better off left un-taken, but if it's tolerable, I'm most likely consuming it. Alpha-Drive arrived in what I felt was the unique flavor of "Peaches and Cream". I'm pretty sure this is the first dietary supplement I've tried with this flavor combo. I've got to tell ya, I'm not a fruit fan at all and peaches just don't do anything for me. I can't even tell you how long it's been since I had an actual peach or peach flavor for that matter. I was tentative to try this but found it to be really quite good. The smell when opening the container comes across just as you'd expect - peaches and cream all the way. When mixed with 6-8oz of water (it mixes cleanly and easily) the taste is pleasant. What blew me away was the "creaminess" of the flavor. A really light and not overpowering peach flavor enhanced by a smooth creamy flavor. Unique and good. Adding that cream component to other flavors could really have some great potential.
For the most part, I kept dosing very simple at the recommended (1) scoop. I found it to be the best option for my needs. If it was getting late I would back it down a bit. Alternatively, if I was dragging, I'd increase it slightly but I never got above what I would consider 1.5 scoops. Please keep in mind this is based on my bodyweight of approximately 175lbs.

            Effectiveness

Alpha-Drive proved to be a solid contender for energy and performance. I have taken a LOT of Pre-workouts over the years. Some really knock your socks off and shine, others really don't do much at all. Then there's that middle ground area where a lot of products fall into. I'd put Alpha-Drive in the upper tiers of this middle level. It's a good, consistent product that provided me with the energy I needed, a mild but noticeable amount of focus and a reasonable pump.
I didn't use this product day in and day out so I can't really speak to any potential tolerance build up. For its part though, I never once felt Alpha-Drive was declining in its effectiveness.

            Value

Alpha-Drive can be purchased for between $28-$37 dollars. Again, very close to the other pre-workout products that fall into that middle ground realm. Not cheap, not expensive and worth giving a go if you're looking for something new to try.

            Side Effects

            None to speak of.

            Conclusion

A solid pre-workout worth trying if you're looking for a change of pace.

ISO-AMINO has gotten the flavoring treatment on several occasions and I was lucky enough to give one a shot.

ISO-AMINO has gotten the flavoring treatment on several occasions and I was lucky enough to give one a shot.

            Taste/Mixability/Dosing

This is where the crux of this review is at - taste. ISO-AMINO is a straightforward 2:1:1 BCAA blend. A blend that's been the staple of the BCAA arena for some time but can certainly be hit or miss when it comes to taste. I received the Sour Batch flavor which is shooting to be like Sour Patch Kids candy. MAN did a good job getting the flavoring close and if you like Sour Patch Kids, you'll have no trouble downing these ISO-AMINO's. I had no trouble drinking this product although the Sour Batch flavor wouldn't be my first choice to use on a regular basis. I'm more of a Dorks (Nerds) flavor kind of guy however, my two young sons gave this flavor a thumbs up.
As with most BCAA products, this one too mixed without issue and dosing is very simple with the included scoop.

            Effectiveness

BCAA's are what they are and effectiveness can be gauged differently across different users. For me, a 2:1:1 ratio seems to perform OK depending on how hard I'm pushing myself. If I'm pushing myself hard and feel like I need more, I'll have more. For example 2 scoops during a workout and one or two scoops during the day. I believe that in the case of BCAA's, if your training warrants using a lot then they can have a positive impact on recovery. Did ISO-AMINO do any more or less for me than any other product? It's so hard to say because of the innumerable variables involved. The way I look at it is that this is a nice product to cycle in with whatever your mainstay BCAA product may be for a flavor changeup.

            Value

These new flavors of ISO-AMINO can be had for just about $20 online for a 30 serving container. That's reasonable to me and essentially right in line with other standard BCAA products.

            Side Effects

            None to speak of.

            Conclusion

MAN Sports new flavors of ISO-AMINO are a nice addition for us to cycle into our BCAA product regimen. Pick a flavor that sounds good to you and give it a shot!
