Quick Summary

Major mass is a quality mass gainer that uses a mix of healthier ingredient alternatives than most mass gainers.

Introduction

First of all, thank you to VMI Sports and to supplimentreviews for allowing me the opportunity to review this product. I am immensely sorry that it was so late, ive been super tied up with personal and schooling matters. While it hasn't auto canceled I still feel bad for it taking a while to do. This product is a mass gainer that claims to be a "lean mass gainer". This is for a person who wants to put on quality mass but isnt into a super dirty bulk. I picked this product from the troopers because i have been trying to steadily add more protein to my diet and also wanted to try a quality mass gainer.

Ingredient Profile

The macros on this product are as follows for 2 scoops:
Total fat 5g
Carbohydrates 31g
Sugars 10g
Protein 20g

With this being a mass gainer there arnt many individual ingredients to cover. I will state the sources of carbs, fats, etc used though. The protein comes from a blend of Whey protein concentrate, whole milk powder, why isolate, and milk protein isolate. This is a wide variety of proteins that come together well. The milk powder and milk isolate will contain some casein so i do enjoy the use of a blend. The main source of carbs is dextrose, Carb10, and maltodextrin. This is refreshing to see because many mass gainers will stop at maltodextrin. I enjoy the fact that they encoperate slower and faster digesting carbs together to offer a steady release and less of a huge insulin spike. The fat blend uses coconut oil creamer, coconut oil powder, avocado oil powder, and MCT powder. Another addition that is fantastic is the addition of the digistisorb enzymes. The particular one that helped me was the lactase enzyme, which helped me a TON since i have lactose intolerance. I can say that i never got even a stomach ache from this product.

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The taste of this product was PHENOMENAL. Thank you to VMI sports for officially ruining my expectations of future protein. I go the ice cream sandwhihc flavor and i can honestly say it is dead on. I loved drinking this stuff and it offered me a relief for for sweet tooth. I will say though that it is really sweet so if your not into sweet drinks than this isnt for you. The mix ability was also very good. The only floaters i ever got were the little pieces of crunch that ae in it. It does mix up pretty thin so you dont have to use much liquid. The dosing i used was 2 scoops per day and on some days i would do this a second time. This seemed to work out good and it fit into my nutrition well.

Effectiveness

The effectiveness of this product was good. Protein powders are always hard to determine effectivness on because it is something that takes time to see and it is just adding to the benefit of higher protein intake. For this product i can say that i noticed a decrease in my normal recovery and i did put on some mass while i used this. I gained around 5 pounds while on this but obviously this wasnt 5 pounds of pure muscle. While i know it wasnt all muscle i was impressed with my results. I did notice more size to my shoulders specifically. The ingredients in this product are in line with adding quality nutrients to help with building muscle. I truly believe if i continued to use this than i would notice even more results. As far as my recovery i did notice a slight decrease in my soreness after hard workouts. This is in line with an increase in daily protein and this product helps to make this an easier task through the day.

Value

This mass gainer runs for 59.99 on vmisports.com, the manufacturer. It can be found on 3rd party websites for cheaper. On Suppz.com it can be found for $38.99. If you use 2 scoops it comes out to around $1.30 per serving. If you use 4 scoops than it comes to around $2.60.

Side Effects

No side effects were experienced.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this mass gainer is a very good option for the individual that wants to increase calorie intake but dosnt want it to be from"dirty" sources. I believe this is a very good option for when somebody want to try to put on some mass and up their protein intake. The ingredients were unique and the flavor was fantastic.

Introduction

I chose to get Workhorse from the vault because i had never used an intra workout before and wanted to see the effectiveness. Thank you to Black Sheep Supplements and supplement reviews for the opportunity to review this product. The quality of the product and company seem to be high. This particular product is supposed to deliver on stamina, blood flow, pump, and joint tissue support.

Ingredient Profile

Macros: Cal 75, Carbs 18g

Dextrose(20g): Dextrose is added in as a fast absorbing carbohydrate. This has an impact on energy especially if you train in the morning and dont eat a large breakfast. During high intensity training the body likes to break down simple, fast-burning sugars so this is the perfect fuel for a hard workout. The dosage is relative to the individual and can differ depending on insulin sensitivity, etc.

L-Citrulline(5g): L-Citrulline is an amino acid that is used to increase blood flow. This happens through the formation of l-arginine. Even though citrulline helps in the formation of arginine in the kidneys, it is a better NO booster than actual arginine. This is because the bio availability of arginine is in question when taken orally while citrulline has good bio availability. L citrulline also works in the urea cycle which regulates the production of ammonia in the body and helps to get rid of the "waste" produced during exercise. The dose here is good due to it being pure citrulline. The dose is usually found between 3-6g so this is a good median.

Raspberry Ketone Powder 99%(2.75g): This is a novel fat burning compound. SOme studies have been donw on mice and they have lost weight but none have been done on humans because to use the weight ratio used in the rat studies it would take a lot of raspberry ketones. Rate studies show an effect between 100-300mg/kg. I weigh around 220lbs so that would mean i would need between 10-30g to meet these standards. It is my guess though that these were put in as a form of natural flavoring on top of the possible positive effects on weight loss. I enjoy this and dont mind them in here since they dont have any possible negative effects.

L-Glutamine(2g): L-Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid within muscle. It is supplimented in hopes to improves muscle mass and endurance. This does not seem to be the case when used by healthy people. Most significant improvements are seen in trauma victims, elderly, or otherwise deficient people. When used in this population they lose less muscle mass than if they didn't take the glutamine. This is another ingredient that has many theories behind it but still has yet to clinically prove its effects for exercise. One proven benefit though is that it improves gasterointestinal health. Dosages can be seen from 5-20g/day.

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)(1.5g): MSM is a sulfur molecule that has potential antioxidant and anti inflammatory effects. Due to this it is often seen in joint formulas. Studies have been done and pain did seem to be mildly relieved in arthritis patients when given 3g. This dose is 1.5g so it is half of that but it is still a good ingredient to have in the product. This could be seen as like a safety net or a preventive. If you want even more joint support than get a joint formula but this will offer some day to day insurance on joint health.

L-Arginine Monohydrochloride(1g): Arginine, as mentioned with the citrulline, is a nitric oxide booster. The theory behind this ingredient is good but the reality is that the body cannot acutely use most of the arginine when supplemented orally so it wont be as good as with other pump ingredients. This product is not relying on this solely though since it has many other pump ingredients in here. The HCl is used to neutralize the pH in hopes it will make it taste better and that more will possibly be absorbed.

Agmatine Sulfate(1g): Agamatine sulfate is a common pump ingredient used for vasodilation. It does this through stimulation of the alpha 2 adrenergic receptors and the turning off of the sympathetic nervous systme. This in turn dialates the blood vessels and allows better blood flow. Agmatine has a few more tricks up its sleeve though that not many people talk about. It is also a mood elevator and it can even increase the speed and strength that your nerve impulses travel. This may allow for a better "mind-muscle" connection in theory. The dosage for agmatine is spot on here at 1g. The dosage is usually between 750 mg and 1.5g.

Beta-Alanine(1g): Beta Alanine is an amino acid used in the synthesis of carnosine. Beta alanine is the limiting reagent which means the more beta alaine you can ingest the higher your carnosine levels will be. This is a compound that should be taken daily and most studies show effects around the 3.2g/day dose. While this dose is low beta alanine is found in many pre and post workouts so this is another gram to add to that. Due to carnosines ability to buffer lactic acid beta alanine helps within the stamina and muscle building side. Effects will be more pronounced when lifting in higher repetitions, which is where more lactic acid production occurs.

Beet Powder(500mg): Beet root powder is used for their source of nitrates usually. Ingestion of nitrates can help blood flow by your body converting the nitrates into nitric oxide. This them directly offers vasodilation. The problem with beet root is that to provide a significant amount of nitrates it must be dosed very high. Some studies show into the 500g area. We have 500 mg here so it may not be effective here unless it is standardized to a higher rate. I do believe though that this may have been added in as not only an extra NO booster but also to help flavor it since it is Raspberry Beetdown. This i love because its taking an ingredients with possible benefits and using it as a flavoring component too.

Caffeine Anhydrous (100mg): Caffeine is the stimulent of choice for many supplements and people in general. Caffeine does this by inhibiting the adenosine receptors in the brain. These receptors cause a state of sleepiness and relaxation. By caffeine blocking these it inherently wakes you up and gives you that jolt that we all know and love. Not only is it a stimulant but some studies have actually shown at high dosages that ti causes a direct increase in muscle power. Caffeine dosage is relative to the person because you can build up a tolerance to it and you can also be hypersensitive to it. I believe 100mg to be a good dosage for an intra workout. Some people will take caffeine pre workout and this will help to lengthen the effects or for somebody who dosnt take it pre workout it will offer a pick-me-up during the workout.

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste: The taste of this product was surprisingly good. I say this because the flavor is Raspberry Beetdown. This is a very unique flavor. It does not have any artificial flavors, sweeteners, or colors so this is a plus. The flavor could be described as a bitter raspberry flavor initially. The after taste can be a little much with a strong beet and earthy taste. I do enjoy the fact that it is natural though and understand it is difficult to get a natural supplement to taste as good as one artificially flavored.

Mixability: The mixability of Workhorse is good. There were a couple times that i would shake it and get a clump or two. Another good shake or two though would fix this. It did have a decent amount of foaming to it but this would go down if it sat for a couple minutes.

Dosing: The dosing protocol i followed was the one on the container. I drank 2 scoops with around 20 oz of water during my warm up. This did seem to be effective. Workhorse is instructed to only be used on workout days.

Effectiveness

Stamina: This product gave a consistent stamina boost that was perfect. The extra 100mg of caffeine provides some mid workout energy that may be lost depending on the dosage in your preworkout. For me this was a good feeling where it wasn't too much when combined with a preworkout but it also was still noticeable when taken without one. The beta alanine in theory should offer a stamina boost also due to its ability to buffer lactic acid but i already take beta alanine separate, due to it being a supplement you take daily. The extra 1g is a nice addition though, especially to people who may only get 1 or 2 grams in their pre.

Blood Flow/ Pump: Even though these are listed as separate claims i am going to combine them because they work hand in hand. There are a lot of pump ingredients in this product including Arginine, Agmatine sulfate, L-Citrulline, and beet powder. The doses on these, as covered above, are pretty solid too. This leads to increased blood flow and a definite improved pump. Every workout i did notice an increased pump feeling but to truly test this out i did a couple high volume days while trying this. The one day i remember in particular I chased a pump for arms and it was one of the best ive ever had.

Joint Tissue Support: This claim is a hard one to prove because it is a long term affect. I already take a joint supplement and this extra 1.5g of MSM felt like good insurance. I do try to keep up my health in my joints so i will never turn down a goodie thrown in like this. I cannot say i noticed a difference in my joints but like i said i already take a fish oil and a joint supplement.

Value

Workhorse can be found on Blacksheepsuppliments.com for 49.99. This includes 30 servings if used at the full 2 scoops which equals out to around 1.67 per serving. This value may seem steep but for the quality of the supplement i do believe it is competitive especially if you could get away with 1 scoop.

Side Effects

No side effects were seen. Individuals that have never taken beta alanine, or are sensitive to it, may get a tingling called paresthesia. At 1 gram though this shouldn't be a problem.

Conclusion

In conclusion, i believe this is a solid intra workout and i did enjoy using it. It gave a pick-me-up boost of energy and offered some blood flow ingredients to give good pumps. The flavoring is decent but i always appreciate a natural product so i can deal with the earthy aftertaste just for that. I recommend this to people with the extra cash looking to boost their workouts, especially if you workout for extended periods of time.

Introduction

mTor Pro is an amino acid supplement that contains EAAs and your standard BCAAs. EAAs are essential amino acids which your body cannot produce so they need to come through your diet. BCAAs are Branch Chain Amino Acids. These are the amino acids you get from a typical supplement and contain L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine. What makes mTor unique from all the other EAAs is the Active TR. This is a time released version of L-Leucine.

Ingredient Profile

mTOR Activating Recovery Matrix
Instantized BCAAs (2:1:1)
Instant L-Leucine(2.5g): This amino acid triggers muscle protein synthesis through the mTor pathway. Leucine is called the "king of BCAAs" due to its ability to trigger protein synthesis better than other aminos.

L-Valine (1.25g): This amino acid aids to trigger muscle protein synthesis when in combination with others. Some studies have shown benefit to mental functions.

L-Isoleucine (1.25g): This amino acid has anti-catabolic effects without directly triggering muscle protein synthesis. It also helps with glucose absorption and removal.

ActiveTR Time Released L-Leucine (3g): This is a version of L-Leucine that is designed to time release over 8 hours. Where most serum L-Leucine peaks and then plumits after around 3-4 hours the Active TR will cause a spike then a consistent release again to provide the muscles this key amino acid.

L-Lysine (938mg): Lysine helps signal muscle protein synthesis and benefits the immune system.

L-Threonine (685mg): Threonine promotes protein balancing, promotes heart and liver health.

L-Phenylalanine (310mg): This amino acid provides cognitive benefits through dopamine production and improved neural connection to benefit "mind-muscle" connection.

[]L-Tyrosine (292mg): This amino acid is used by the body to produce noradrenaline and dopamine. This leads to an anti-stress response when supplemented.

L-Histidine (175mg): Histidine can be converted into histamine in the body which regulates allergic reactions. It can also help with anemia and digestion.

L-Methionine (100mg): This amino acid supports healthy fat metabolism, digestion, testosterone production, and even can be used as an antioxidant.

AstraGin (50mg): This is an extract of Astragalus membranaceous and Panax ginseng. This has been proven to improve the absorption of amino acids/nutrients. It also can help the body to repair any minor damage to the small intestines.

Active Hydration Matrix
Taurine (1g): This amino acid is commonly used for reduction in cramping and for cardiovascular health. It is being researched as an anti-diabetic compound because it acts on insulin sensitivity. Most notably taurine is used for electrolyte balance which helps in water balance and hydration.

Potassium Gluconate (150mg): Potassium is vital for the human body. Low levels can even lead to heart failure and death. Potassium is used in the process of muscle contraction and neuron firing. This is why a common symptom of hypokalemia (low potassium) is cramping.

Sodium Chloride (75mg): Sodium is another essential nutrient for muscle contraction and overall health. Sodium works to balance the water inside and outside of your cells. NaCl helps to pull water into the cells when needed.

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The taste of this product is amazing. I purchased the mango lemonade flavor and was a little apprehensive. I wasn't sure how it would taste. The flavor is a great combination of sweet and tangy. The mango taste hits and there is a tangy lemonade after taste. This was very easy to drink.
The mixability was good for a EAA supplement. Amino acids are naturally hydrophobic so they won't mix well with water. Due to this there was "floaters" in it and you should probably swirl it before you drink. There was a decent amount of foaming but this did subside if you let it sit for a minute after shaking.
I dosed this product with the unique form of Leucine in mind. I took one scoop most days before bed to supply my body with a steady amount of Amino Acids as I slept/recovered.

Effectiveness

I used this supplement as a recovery aid. I could tell this helped a lot because my soreness was almost always absent. I took this at night towards the time i would fall asleep. My rational behind this is that this is the one time throughout the day that your body dosnt have a supply of amino acids. The ActiveTR allows the time released L-Leucine to be steadily released to your body over 8 hours. This allows your body to have the nutrients to kick-start protein synthesis during recovery and sleep. This plan did make a decent difference in my training. I pushed myself very hard in the gym and i could almost always jump up the next day at 6am with little to no DOMS. This made strides in my training since i am doing a full body split and could hit every day harder and harder without the worry of being so sore the next day i couldn't move. There were some days, particularly days where i hit maxes, where i would have some mild soreness after.
I did use this as an intra workout some days. On these days it did offer me a mid-workout boost of energy to keep me on track.
I have never taken a supplement that had a hydration matrix in it. I cant say that it made a huge difference but i did feel less thirsty in general. I normally drink around a gallon of water a day and this did continue while i took this because i know how much i need to drink even though im not thirsty.

Value

The value of this product is great for what you get. Most amino acids are around $1/ serving which is where this one sits. It is 29.99 for mTor Pro but this is not including shipping. This puts it at $1/serving which I feel is a good value for the unique product you get.

Side Effects

I didn't experience any side effects while taking this product.

Conclusion

MTor Pro is a great option for anybody in the market for an EAA supplement. I realize this may be a 2nd or 3rd tier supplement for many but this truly will benefit your recovery time and alow you to push harder in the gym.

Pyroxamine is a thermogenic fat-burner that attacks from multiple sides and gives results.

Introduction

First and foremost, thank you to Myokem for offering this product up for review! I chose to accept this product because i had not truly tried to center on weight loss and using a fat burner before. I generally workout for health reasons and i do not focus on the aesthetics of it, although that is always a great bonus. After seeing this product available i made the decision to accept it and try to focus my target on some fat loss. I usually have a decently clean diet but i did clean it up a little more while using this product. I did plug in cardio here and there into my training.

Ingredient Profile

Strap yourselves in for this one because this is quite an in-depth, lengthy label. I do enjoy the fact that they have used so many standardized forms in this product. I have abbreviated that std below. For people who do not know what that is, it is when a certain active component of the ingredient is raised to a higher concentration than normal.

Caralluma fimbriata (125mg)- This plant has been used for many years as a "famine food". It has been known to be a good appetite suppressent so that cutting calories can done easier. The one study i found on this plant used 1,000 mg but it was a concentrated extract. Due to this, clinically this ingredient may be underdosed, even if taken 3x per day. This was only one study though so i believe more probably needs to be done to officially say that.

Olive Leaf {std. 20% Oleuropein} (100mg)- Olive leaf extract is used in many fat burners. The exact mechanism behind this benefit is not clinically known but theories have shown it could be due to thyroid hormone and adrenaline regulation. Other benefits from this is a protective effect on atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), glucose metabolism, and cholesterol control. The dosage on this is hard to pinpoint due to it being standardized. The compound standardized, Oleuropein, is the active phenolic that brings these benefits. Dosages start at 500 mg but this is assuming no standardization.

Caffeine Anhydrous (100mg)- This form of caffeine is a more concentrated form. Caffeine is a very popular supplement for many reasons. The fat burning properties come from caffeine's ability to free the fatty acids from the fat molecule. This moves them into the bloodstream where they can be used for energy. The fat has to be moved to be used so this is a vital role in fat loss that many do not know. Caffeine also has the stimulant attributes that everyone knows about. This increases the metabolic rate of the body at rest and makes the heart work harder. 100 mg is a good starting dose, especially for those that are new to stims.

L-Theanine (50mg)- This compound is found in green tea alongside caffeine and pairs with it. Theanine gives the body a calming affect by reducing the effect of stress on the body. This causes it to be commonly paired with stimulants. The combination of theanine/caffeine will help to provide "smooth" energy where you wont get gittery. The dosage for this ingredient is 100-200mg with around the same amount of caffeine. If 2 servings are taken then this is met at 100mg theanine / 200mg caffeine.

Cognizin Citicoline (50mg)- This ingrediant is a form of choline that is a nootropic. This molecule breaks down in the body into choline and cytidine. Cytidine then breaks down into uridine. All of these components are nootropics that help the body with memory and cognition. Clinical studies have been done with the patented Cognizin standardization and have shown positive outcomes. Unfortunately though the dosages used were from 250-500 mg. This product only has 50 mg and is taken 2-3 times per day so this dosage of 250 mg could not be met.

TeaCrine Theacrine (50mg)- This compound is an ingredient that is extremely similar to caffeine and is found naturally in many teas. Theacrine acts on the same pathways as caffeine but it is harder to build a tolerance to it. A unique aspect of Theacrine is that at low dosages, such as whats in this product (50 mg), will actually have a relaxing effect on the body. High doses, around 300 mg, will have a stimulating effect like caffeine.

Bacopa monnieri extract 5:1 (50mg)- This ingredient is an interesting nootropic. It is known to help with memory and fighting stress. These properties are done through Bacopa enhancing the growth of nerve endings (dendrites). Dendrites are the little arms at the end of a nerve cell that transmit the message being sent. Bacopa is also known to take time to work best. Subjects in studies that took it for 8-12 weeks produced much better results than at 4-6 weeks.

Grains of Paradise {std. 12.5% paradol} (40mg)- This is common in fat burners and can be part of what attributes to amplified body heat. Grains of paradise has been shown to help the body convert the white fat into brown fat. Brown fat is then burned off, particularly in the cold, to maintain the bodies temperature. In one study, 40 mg was given to men aged 22-36 years old and they were placed into a cold room for 2 hours after. The group that took Grains of Paradise showed much greater energy expenditure. Due to this, i would say that this ingredient could become particularly effective in the winter months.

Evodia rutaecarpe {std. 95% Evodiamine} (25mg)- This is a compound that has been seen to raise the resting core body temperature and to also decrease the perception of cold. Due to it being effective it is said to not take this while you have a fever. by increasing the body temp it increases your metabolism and will, hopefully, lead to more fat loss. Due to the temperature response this ingredient carries natural anti-infectious properties. There is no clinical evidence to suggest an effective dose.

Theobromine (25mg)- This is a compound that is found in the cacao plant and so it is found naturally in chocolate. This compound will react synergistic with caffeine and enhance its effects by widening blood vessels, raising heart rate, alertness, etc even more. Theobromine has also been found to increase insulin sensitivity.Clinical dosages range from 200-1000mg. This will not be reached taking 2-3 servings of this product.

Sacred Lotus (25mg)- This plant is used in Asian medicine and teas. It has a high amount of polyphenols in it that are beneficial in overall health. Some specific attributes of Sacred Lotus is as an anti-depressant and anti-diabetic. One study shows that when supplemented with taurine sacred lotus helps to blunt the absorption of fats in rats. There are not any human studies and no standard dosage on sacred lotus.

Barley{std. to Hordenine} (25mg)- This is an ingrediant that is standardized fully for Hordenine. Hordenine is an adrenergic because it acts on the release and re-uptake of noradrenaline. This puts it in a class with a supplement like synephrine. The problem with it in here is that it has only been researched when given intravenous. There is no research on an effective oral dosage.

Huperzine-A 1% (5mg)- This compound is classified as a cholonergic, or a compound that increases acetylcholine. Huperzine does this indirectly by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks acetylcholine down. This benefits everybody because acetylcholine is the learning transmitter in our body. This means that it can benefit everything from school to feeling that "mind-muscle connection". The standard dose for huperzine is 50-200mcg. With it being standardized to 1% in this product the total Huperzine in this is 25mcg. With it being taken at least 2x per day the dosage is met in Pyroxamine.

Bioperine (5mg)- This is an ingredient common in supplements. It enhances the uptake of other ingredients.

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The taste and mixability are not applicable to this product due to it being in a pill form.
As far as dosing i started off taking one in the morning when i woke up and one in the afternoon. I did not feel much from one so once i knew i could tolerate i took two in the morning and one in the afternoon. This may be due to my weight, i started this at 234 lbs. Taking two in the morning was perfect and boosted the effects so i continued this through the container. The official dosing does say 1 in the morning and 1 4-6 hours later. If faster results are wanted it does state 2 can be taken in the morning like i did but a total of 3/day is the maximum.

Effectiveness

The effectiveness of this product was impressive. I can not say that I sweat overly, like many people have felt, but I defiantly felt warmer. This is most likely due to the colder weather starting. I found myself driving with the windows down and wearing shorts in 30-40 degree weather and feeling like it was in the 70's. This may have been due to the Evodiamine, which decreases cold perception.
The appetite suppression worked for me but it may have not benefited me in this aspect as much as it could others. I eat smaller meals throughout the day and so I eat even when I'm not necessarily hungry. After I took this I did get a mood enhancement. I felt more ready to take on the day and get stuff done. This aided me greatly where I workout in the morning before classes. I would wake up around 6 am and sometimes i always feel groggy in the mornings. After taking this and letting a few minutes go by i could feel a significant change in my mood and energy.
Since this is a fat burner lets talk about weight lost. I started this product at 234.4 lbs and ended it at 227.2 lbs. Throughout the 20 days that i took this i did notice a nice change in my physique. I noticed my upper abs to show more defined and my lower have started to show some. I have not lost any strength and i could push myself just as hard in the gym. I am impressed with this product and would be interested in running it more to see the full extent of benefits over a longer period of time. Since at 3 caps one container only gets you 20 days i feel there would be even more significant of a change if it was ran 40 days.

Value

While this product does produce results, they are going to come for a price. Not many 3rd party suppliers sell this and so you are required to buy direct from the producer, Myokem. On their site it retails for $49.99. This runs around .83 cents a serving but the dosing is 2-3 servings a day. If you only use 2/day than that will run you $1.66/day. If you take 3 than it will be about $2.49/day. This is a step price point depending on the dosage that is being used. Not sure how many people this may benefit but they just started giving 20% off to first responders/military.

Side Effects

The only side effect i had while running this was if i did not drink a glass of water with my dose in the morning. For some reason if i took this without drinking water than i would get a slight headache and a very warm sensation in my stomach. This was my fault though because it does state on the package to take with a glass of water. I did not feel the sweats many report on this but i did feel an overall warmer sensation when out in the cold.

Conclusion

Pyroxamine is a good choice for anybody looking to lose a few pounds but some may find it expensive if you take 3 servings per day.

Introduction

This product has interested me since it first came out but i never pulled the trigger to buy them. My local Walmart has them and i finally bought a few boxes to try these out. The uniqueness about these particular "bites" comes in the fact that they supposed to be like little bites of cake and they are stated to have a whipped inside. I did buy them skeptical of the texture because ive never had a soft, whipped protein bar yet. Due to this i wasnt as surprised when they wernt as advertised. If you go into buying these thinking they will be like other bars than you wont be disappointed.

Ingredient Profile

The macros on these depend on flavor; they all have some variance within the fat content but protein does stay the same. I will be writing this based on the birthday cake flavor.

Fat: 7g
Sat Fat: 4g

Total Carbohydrate: 25g
Dietary Fiber: 0g
Total Sugar: 5g

Protein: 20g

The protein is a blend of milk protein concentrate, milk protein isolate, and whey isolate. These bars do contain sucrose and they do contain artificial flavors so if your looking for a clean bar than i would not recommend this.

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The taste of these bites is decent. I bought the birthday cake ones and they are defiantly edible. The flavor tastes more like a sugary vanilla to me but it is still enjoyable. I had no problem eating them to satisfy a sweet tooth. I believe they would be better if they stayed true to the whipped inside. The bites are nothing like advertised as you can see in the pictures. The package shows a white icing with a fluffy looking inside. The actual bites are like a normal protein bar, just chopped into bites. They were the tough, doughy like texture you see with many. As for as dosing, i took a package to me on most days that i went to class. This offered me the perfect, convenient snack to have during a lecture but to still stay somewhat nutritious.

Effectiveness

This product was used to offer a guilty pleasure against a sweet tooth while still increasing protein consumption. This is a great bar for just that. The effectiveness is hard to pinpoint because it is used to just increase protein. With an overall increase in protein consumption i feel better recovery, less DOMS, more power in the gym, etc but this cannot be pointed at just this supplement.
These cake bites should be looked at as a replacement for food. If you are a big snacker and take chips or candy to work or around the house than it would be beneficial to start keeping these and snack on these instead of the candy, chips, etc. With that being said, i would not say these could be eaten all the time if weight loss is a goal. While the macros arnt awful there are 25g of carbs and 8g of fat each package and they could start to add up if multiple are eaten in a day.

Value

The value changes quite a bit depending on where you buy them. When i purchased them it was at Walmart and i got them 4/7$. This is not the best deal you can get at all but i had a sweet tooth and wanted some so i did. Online you can find the better deals such as on Bestpricenutrition.com (12/ 19.99$). This comes out to around $1.67 which is average for the usual protein bar. I believe this is a decent price point for what you get.

Side Effects

No side effects were seen while i took these.

Conclusion

In conclusion, these bars may not be the greatest but they did not fall completely. If used to replace a snack that was previously bad than these would be good to replace that. I may give another shot to a different flavor but there are better options out there.

Quick Summary

This product is an all in one multivitamin that would make a great addition to anyone's stack for overall health support.

Introduction

This product peaked my interest due to the "all-in-one" attitude. I was not expecting much from the joint and immune complexes but I did want to try them out since I never had before. I had heard good things about glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM and thought this would be a good way to test the waters since I was in a market for a new multi anyway. One disappointment is the fact that I'm their complexes they do use proprietary blends instead of disclosing exact amounts of the ingredients.

Ingredient Profile

I realize there have been many, many reviews done on this product so I am going to break down the unique ingredients that you don't see every day in a multi.

Molybdenum (50mcg)- This is an essential element that is found in very small amounts within most living beings. It is known to act as a catalyst for many reactions such as the breakdown of amino acids and the metabolism of fat. The RDA for this element is 45mcg so orange triad actually completes this with its dose of 50mcg.

Vanadium (10mcg)- This element mainly facilitates the bodies metabolism of blood glucose. There is no RDA on this element but the upper limit is set for 1.8 mg per day and we are way below that with the dose so no worries about toxicity.

Boron (500mcg)- Boron is used for many aspects within the body that are helpful to athletes. Some of these include strong bones, balancing hormones, healthy joints, and better nutrient absorption (Ca, Mg, Ph). There is no RDA for boron and requirements range from 1-6mg per day.

Joint complex (2000mg prop blend)

Glucosamine sulfate- This compound is used to slow the breakdown of collagen within joints. It has been found to help relieve symptoms of osteoporosis. In most studies 500mg was used 3 times a day. Due to this being a proprietary blend we cannot know exactly how much is in here.

Chondrotitin sulfate- This is commonly paired with Glucosamine because it acts on the same symptoms of joint pain and stiffness. The daily dosage should be around 1000-1200mg per day but, again, due to the prop blend we cannot know the exact dosage. Both Chondrotitin and Glucosamine are most likely not within these ranges or they are on the low end but it is still a great addition to the vitamin as it dosnt hurt anything.

Flex Complex (1550mg prop blend)

MSM- This compound is taken for joint pain also but it is taken for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects too. The standard dosage is from 2000-3000 mg daily so this is not dosed fully within Orange Triad.

Bromelain- This is an enzyme that can digest protein. It can be digested by the stomach and affect the blood and whole body. Many studies have used bromelain as an anti-inflammatory agent so i believe this is why they put it in Orange Triad. It does have a lot of other benefits from immune system protection, anti-cancer properties, to reducing congestion. The dosage on bromelain is 90-100mg twice daily so this very well may be up to this standard.

Hyaluronic Acid- This compound has many healing properties and is used in medicine for treating the healing of ulcers and burns. There is some evidence that it can help with the healing and fluidity of joints but it is usually injected. The molecule is very large and due to this it is hard for the body to absorb it through the small intestine.

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The taste and mix ability on this product are null due to it being in tablet form. The dosing on this product is a split dose of 3 tablets taken twice a day. So this could be 3 at breakfast and 3 at dinner, which is what I did. The split dosing was a little bit of a nuisance and there were a few days where I would forget the second dose. The tablets are of average size and most people shouldn't have a problem getting them down.

Effectiveness

The effectiveness of this product was good for me. It is often hard to measure effectiveness with a supplement like a multivitamin but I feel the joint and immune complex did work for me personally.

When combined with the oximega fish oil my mild shoulder soreness did go away completely. I did start the fish oil first and I noticed a decrease in the soreness but when started both the fish oil and orange triad it went away. With this being said, I have never previously had a major injury with it. I do not believe this would be as effective for serious pain or a truly injured joint.

I was skeptical about the immune complex because I had never taken anything like that before but I believe it did make a difference for me. I would usually get sick when others around me got sick but while on this i didn't seem to. My girlfriend got sick twice and I normally catch stuff from her. Both times my throat got scratchy for a day and then I was fine.

There is also a digestion complex but I did not notice any differences here. I am mildly lactose intolerant and find it hard to stay away from all milk products so I deal with random stomach aches some days. These did not change at all but I did not expect them to due to it being an allergy. Even tough this did not product any noticeable changes for me it was still nice to have it in there.

Value

The value of this product is good. The price point at All Star Health is $24.89 for 270 tablets. At 6 tabs a serving this gives us 40 servings which equates to around 55 cents per serving. This may be high for your run-of-the-mill multi but this multi has much more than is beneficial to athletes.

Side Effects

The only side effect that i had was a bright yellow pee; this is from the B vitamins and is noted with most multis.

Conclusion

This is a great multivitamin for overall health and has added benefits that most multis don't cover. This would be a product that anybody, even non-athletes, could benefit from.

Introduction

This protein powder really interested me due to it being a "whole food" product. RedCon1 based this protein with beef, chicken, salmon, egg, rice, and pea protein instead of the usual dairy derived. This interested me due to me being lactose intolerant. Usually I use a whey product and deal with the stomach issues but this offered me something different.

Ingredient Profile

The full ingredient profile will be posted down below in the pictures.
This product contains several different protein sources including beef, salmon, chicken, egg, rice, and pea. Other ingredients include MCT oil and coconut water. MCT oil is a fatty acid (Medium Chain Triglyceride) that is contained in coconuts. MCT oil is a unique molecule because it does not act like most fats. MCT oil is quickly absorbed by the stomach and transported into the liver so it can be immediately used for energy. Due to this it is not likely to be directly stored as fat and can be a great tool in weight loss. It also has a slough of other health benefits including better cognitive function, lowering blood sugar, and lowering cholesterol.

The macros on this product are:[\u]
24 grams protein
4 grams carbohydrates (2g sugar, 1g fiber)
2 grams fat (<1g Saturated)

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The taste and mixability on this product were the best I've had so far. I had the blueberry cobbler flavor and it was very true to this. This flavor tasted like your grandmas blueberry pie. The mixability is good on this also. With a shaker bottle and whisk it will shake and not have any clumps. If you use the recommended amount of water, 4-6 fl oz, it will be the consistency of a milkshake. The only complaint that I would have is that sometimes it can be overpoweringly sweet. This may be due to it being a desert flavor but some days after a workout that sweetness is almost too much.

I dosed this product with 1 serving, which is 29 grams, post workout. The container says you can use it up to 3 times per day to increase protein intake.

Effectiveness

The effectiveness of this product is good. I did not notice any exceedingly better or worse recovery while taking this versus other protein powders. I use protein powders as a true supplement post workout to my diet so i try to keep my protein intake high through food also. Due to this i do not have a drastic change in recovery between different protein powders that ive tried. With this being said my recovery while on this was still very good. I truly felt i could push myself and come back the next day all over again.

MRE Lite did have a good filling effect on me. I usually workout in the morning after breakfast so i will have this shake after i workout and then i dont eat until lunch. It did keep me full during this time and there were many times i ate lunch because i know i needed to and not because i was hungry. This is a positive for me and may be definitely useful for people looking to restrict calories on a cut.

This product is designed for people that want the profile of protein behind the original MRE but without all of the carbs and fat. It would be perfect for people on a lean bulk or looking to cut some body fat. The macros on it are good and should be easy for most people to fit into a dietary plan.

Value

The value with this product is tricky. It is 44.99 for 30 servings through Redcon1 but they are constantly running deals of around 20% or more. This puts the price at $36 or 1.20/serving. Every once in a while deals go around 50% or BOGO. This is defiantly worth the money when sales are going on but I would be hesitant at full price. The value is also in the fact that it is a truly unique product. There are not many dairy free, whole food protein powders like this on the market.

Side Effects

I didn't have any side effects.

Conclusion

This product is a great option for someone looking for a low-carb meal replacement or a person who is lactose intolerant and wants to try something new. The price point may be steep but if you give it some time and keep an eye out Redcon1 runs deals often. To me this a great buy and i have loved a quality protein that tastes good and dosnt upset my stomach at all. I will definitely purchase this product again when in the market for a protein.

Quick Summary

Transparent Labs Stim-Free is a well rounded, fully disclosed pre workout that i believe everyone should try that enjoys going stim free.

Introduction

I bought this product to begin with to try a Non-Stim preworkout. All other previous preworkouts i had used were stim based. We had a conversation in my cardiology class about caffeine and stimulants which peaked my interest in trying a Non-Stim for once. I really debated on it due to the pricing, $49 for 30 servings, but i am glad that i did. With Transparent labs they are true to their name with full transparency. They even include the exact amount of stevia, flavoring, etc within their product. This is an aspect i have never seen before. One aspect that some may care about is the packaging. The company has stopped using tubs and has switched to bags (picture below). This can be somewhat of a nuisance when at the end of the bag you are trying to dig out the last serving or 2. To fix this though you could save the tub of another sup and just pour it into the old tub.

Ingredient Profile

L-Citrulline Malate 2:1 (6,000 mg)- This is a combination of the non-essential amino acid and malic acid. The L-citrulline will be converted into L-arginine in the kidneys which will then help to dilate the blood vessels and increase nutrient flow to the muscles. Due to this it will enhance the activation of the creatine and also the BCAAs with being funneled into the muscle for energy and protein synthesis. With this 2:1 ratio you are getting 4 grams of L-citrulline and 2 grams of malic acid. Malic acid plays a role in the Krebs cycle which promotes ATP (energy) production. These two ingredients together will increase the production of energy and will promote the removal of waste products from exercise like ammonia, carbon dioxide, lactic acid.

BCAA 2:1:1 (4,000 mg)- The BCAAs used in this product are of a 2:1:1 ratio. This means we are receiving 2 grams of Leucine, 1 gram Isoleucine, and 1 gram Valine. These amino acids will be used as energy during the workout and the leucine will be used to kick start muscle protein synthesis. These amino acids may also help to keep your body from going into a catabolic state during the workout especially if you train fasted.

Beta-Alanine (4,000 mg)- This amino acid is one of two building blocks that make up carnosine. Carnosine is an important buffering agent that helps fight to maintain a balance of muscle acid. This lactic acid buildup is what causes the burning sensation during exercise. Carnosine levels quickly plummet when exercise is intense. Beta-alanine ultimately slows down muscle fatigue.

Creatine HCL (3,000 mg)- Creatine has many benefits like the ingredients above. It helps with ATP formation by recycling and donating a phosphate to ADP to make ATP. This increases energy stores. Creatine also helps to buffer the pH levels in muscle like carnosine does. This form of creatine has a hydrocloride bonded to it which makes it soluble in water and also increases absorption in the body.

BetaPure Betaine Anhydrous (2,500 mg)- Betaine is a compound that is found in beets and also within our body. This compound has good synergy with creatine. This is because it improves natural creatine producting by being a carbon donor in a reaction to produce methionine. While methionine is used for creatine production it also increases muscle protein synthesis so betaine improves that as well. There is also new studies saying that it promotes a rise in HGH and IGF-1.

Taurine (1,300 mg)- This is a compound that is in most energy drinks and is known to have a lot of benefits. It is a good antioxidant compound in which it can help to promote health all over the body. It has been shown to particularly promote good cardiovascular health in which it can protect heart cells from damage and even prevent atherosclerosis (hardening, narrowing of the blood vessels due to plaque)

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine (600 mg)- This ingredient is L-Tyrosine with acetyl group attached which allows the molecule to cross into the brain. Tyrosine is an amino acid that can be converted in the body readily into L-Dopa and then dopamine to increase mood. This has not been able to be proven for oral intake though. L-Tyrosine has been found to have an anti-stress factor for the body when put into physically stressing situations. This is because it increases the catacholamine known as noradrenaline, which buffer for stress in the body.

Choline Bitartrate (500 mg)- Choline is used for the cognitive side of the product. Choline is used within the synthesis of new DNA but also in the production of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that aids in the delivery of signals between nerves.

Mucuna Prurians 98% L-Dopa (70 mg)- This is an interesting ingrediant to put in a preworkout. This is a species of bean that grows in the tropics and is known to have high levels of Levadopa. L-Dopa when ingested can cross the blood-brain barrier and is directly converted into dopamine. Dopamine will help to provide a euphoric feeling and will also lower prolactin levels. This may seem like a low dosage of Mucuna but they standardized it to 98% which means we are getting almost all of it L-Dopa.

L-Norvaline (60 mg)- This compound provides the 1,2 punch for nitric oxide. While other ingridents work to raise nitric oxide this ingredient prevents you body from stopping NO production. The body will naturally cease NO production through an enzyme called arginase. While arginase limits NO production L-Norvaline inhibits arginase which forces your body to continue production.

BioPerine (5 mg)- Everyones favorite absorption agent

Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The taste of this product was good considering it was sweetened naturally. I do LOVE the fact that they went with stevia for a natural sweetener but you cannot expect it to taste like pie. I had the green apple flavor and it was very tart. This went along great with the flavor though since green apple is already tart normally. The mixability was great considering it contained amino acids. Aminos are hydrophobic compounds so they do not like to mix with water well. This could be seen with floaters here and there but nothing serious. I even mixed this product several times with a glass and spoon with no problems at all.

Dosing
L-Citrulline- Recommend: 6,000-8,000 mg / Product: 6,000 mg
BCAA: 1-1.5 g/kg daily / 4g
Beta Alanine: 2-5g / 4g
Creatine HCl: 2.5-5g / 3g
Betaine: 2.5g / 2.5g
Taurine: 500-2,000mg / 1,300mg
N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine: 500-2,000mg / 600mg
Choline Bitartrate: 250-500mg / 500mg
Mucuna Pruriens: 250-5,000mg / 70mg
L-Norvaline: 2-5 g / 60mg

As you can most of the ingredients in Stim Free are dosed within clinical dosages. There are a few that are lower than recommended dosages but i believe these may be for reason. High dosages of L-Dopa can show negative side effects such as heart arrythmias. High dosages of L-Norvaline can bottom out a persons blood pressure. While i wish these were a little bit closer to clinical values i understand the risks putting these into a supplement in which some consumers may not research these effects.

One scoop of this preworkout is 24.82 grams of product. Transparent Labs advises that you take this 20-30 minutes before your workout with 6-8fl oz of water. I took this product by mixing it up and drinking it over the course of about 30 minutes before i worked out. I felt that the effects were better when i drank this slower and did not chug it real quick. Also the flavor was a lot stronger when mixed with 6-8 fl oz so i did more around 12 fl oz to make it taste better for me personally.

Effectiveness

Energy- I did feel very energized while taking this product which surprised me since it didn't have any stimulants. The difference is that this was a very clean, controlled energy. If you are used to stimulants than this product will not give you the same energy that those do. I did not take this product and have a raging energy burst. It comes on slower but it also lasts longer with absolutely no crash.

Focus- The focus on this product was amazing for me. I usually workout in the morning and go to school soon. On most days i would continue to have a very focused and motivated mood in school throughout the day after taking this. The sensation wasn't a "tunnel vision" feel but it did make it easier to not wander off in thought or get distracted. This was an aspect that really surprised me and provides benefits outside of just muscle building and exercise.

Pump- The pumps on this product were there but they really showed while doing high volume. When training with high volume the pumps were incredible and felt great but you definitely had to earn them. This was not a product that gave you a pump with little effort. The pumps that i got stayed with me longer than i usual get. Im not sure whether this was the product itself that did this or the fact that i could push myself for the extra reps.

Value

The value on this product did seem to be lacking to me at first. It is 49$ for 30 serving. I do wish it was cheaper than this but after looking at buying individual ingredients and making my own preworkout i do see why it is this price. At the end of the day it is expensive but it is worth a definite try. I am willing to pay the extra money to get a natural preworkout that benefits me as much as this one does.

Side Effects

Only side effect was the itches from the beat-alanine. It should go away after repeated use.

Conclusion

At the end of the day this product worked wonderful for me and is my new favorite preworkout. I will be buying another bag of this and would recommend it to anybody interested in a non stimulant preworkout. The price point may be high for a supplement at 1.63/ serving but i will fork over the extra change for a natural, well dosed product. Unfortunately this is not widely available and you mostly have to buy from Transparentlabs.com. They will rarely run a promotion for 10 or 15% off so keep an eye out if you are interested.

    Introduction

I ventured into trying this product because I had ran out of my previous ZMA and I liked the fact that this contains melatonin. I was not sure how I would react to melatonin but had a very present experience after my first bottle. I bought this product months ago for a great BOGO deal and it definitely provides a unique ZMA experience.

    Ingredient Profile

The ingredients of this product are the standard ZMA (zinc, magnesium, vitamin B6) with added melatonin and vitamin D.

Vitamin D3 (200 IU): Testosterone support

    Vitamin B6 (12mg): Mood & energy

Magnesium (425mg): Metabolism & sleep support

    Zinc (35mg): Testosterone support

Melatonin (3g): Hormone released by the body when exposed to darkness and helps to promote a deep REM sleep.

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste and mixability are not an issue since these are capsules. 1 serving is 3 average size caps. The usual dosage for ZMA is around 30mg zinc, 450mg of magnesium, and 10-11 mg of B6. The dosing in this product is close to this, with zinc and B6 being a little higher and magnesium being just 25mg lower.

    Effectiveness

My first reaction to the effectiveness was that I didn't fall asleep any different than before but I did have a better quality sleep. It didn't "knock me out" like many other people feel with melatonin but once I was asleep I had a great night sleep and had very vivid dreams. These dreams were pleasant and I have actually grown a liking to them. I did wake up feeling much more refreshed than I did before starting this.

Z-Elite stated to take 3 capsules (for men, 2 for women) on an empty stomach around 30-60 minutes before bed. I did follow this regimen and noticed a better effect if staying off electronics after taking the product. This I believe is due to blue light inhibiting your pineal glands from secreting more natural melatonin.

    Value

The value is where Z-Elite shines bright. It retails on bodybuilding.com for $17.97 for 60 servings. This is a great price to begin with but if you wait they often run BOGO on this product which means 120 servings for under 20 dollars. This is an AMAZING deal!

    Side Effects

No negative side effects. I did experience vivid dreams some nights but this was acualy pleasant to me.

    Conclusion

Final thoughts on Z-Elite is that it is a solid product for a cheap price. I would have liked to see more D3 in here since they put it in to begin with but that is just a bonus so I can't complain. The melatonin was a great idea to add in here since ZMA is already a "sleep aid". I do wish it helped me to fall asleep more than it did but this may just be my personal reaction with melatonin since i have never taken it before this.
*While this product does claim to support testosterone this is not a formulated test booster. Some people may notice a slight difference if they are vitamin D or zinc deficient.

     Pros:
     Cons:
    • Easy To Swallow
    • Higher Epa/dha Concentration
    • Contaminent Free
    • Fish Burps
    • Mild Stomach Discomfort

    Quick Summary

Oximega Fish Oil is a good, high quality fish oil but still comes with the usual fish oil burps.

    Introduction

Oximega peaked my interest during a BOGO promotion. I had taken a normal fish oil supplement from a retail store but I had never invested in a quality fish oil until Oxi. I like the fact that they were tested to be free of heavy metals and that they were also enteric coated to minimize fish burps. I still did have fish burps 50% of the time after taking them but I do believe the overall benefits of fish oil outweigh this.

    Ingredient Profile

    Total Omega-3s: 2000mg

    -EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid): 800mg
-EPA is the more important of the two omega 3s when it comes to reducing inflammation. This is because it inhibits the enzyme D5D which produces arachidonic acid. AA can be converted into eicosanoids which are the main facilitator of cell inflammation.

    -DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid): 400mg
-DHA is especially beneficial for nerve cells due to its large molecular size. The size of DHA is bigger than EPA. This means that when entered into the cell membrane it increases fluid. This is acualy beneficial for cells and aids in transport and transmitting of critical components/impulses.

    -Mixed: 800mg

    Dosing

Dosing with fish oil is still up in the air medically, with some people recommending 500mg-1000mg of EPA+DHA. I do believe Oximega provides a good quality and also good quantity on this product. The serving size is 2 pills.

    Effectiveness

The total effectiveness of this product is hard to measure due to its long term benefits. Fish oil does have a huge amount of studied benefits from cardiovascular to joint repair and even cognitive. One aspect I did notice was my mild shoulder pain seemed better than usual. I don't have any serious issues, just a soreness after heavy lifting. This did decrease after a couple days of taking oximega and completely went away when I paired Oxymega with Orange Triad.

    Value

The value on this product I believe is good. The price point is $17.99 on bodybuilding.com and can be found a couple dollars cheaper on other sites. BB frequently runs BOGO or BOGO50% so this that would be a good chance to pick this up at better value. Even at full price though it runs around 30 cents/serving.

    Side Effects

This product, even with enteric coating, caused fish burps. Also it caused some bowel issues for the first couple days but then seemed to get better and i havnt had any issues since.

    Conclusion

Overall I would recommend this product to anyone looking to improve health and especially to people who don't get much fatty fish into their diet. The downside of fish oil burps are still here for me but that will not stop me from buying again.
