    Quick Summary

Like many other Preworkouts, the DMHA is being eliminated in many countries, Lets see if it still measures up.

    Introduction

I am not a Stim junkie and can usually get by without a pre-workout, but on those days when i just cant get started or I am playing in an all day tournament or event, This thing hits the spot perfectly

    Ingredient Profile

In Canada the label is for a 1 scoop 7.6g serve, I know in Europe and Asia the panel will give both the 1 scoop and 2 scoop serve.
    In 1 Scoop

    Introduction

I am not a Stim junkie and can usually get by without a pre-workout, but on those days when i just cant get started or I am playing in an all day tournament or event, This thing hits the spot perfectly

    Ingredient Profile

In Canada the label is for a 1 scoop 7.6g serve, I know in Europe and Asia the panel will give both the 1 scoop and 2 scoop serve.
    In 1 Scoop

    L - Citrulline 2g
    Beta Alanine 1.6g
    Hydromax Glycerol 1g
    Taurine 500mg
    Agmatine Sulfate 500mg
    N Acetyl L Tyrosine 250mg
    Eria Jarensis Extract 125mg
    Caffeine 100mg
    Theobromine - 25mg
    L-Norvaline.50mg

When you add everything together you will see there are 6.25 grams of total active ingredients making this 81% actives and 19% Colors/flavours/other. This comes to no surprise when i talk about taste a little later
When comparing this to the old profile the 200mg of DMHA is out and nothing else has been put in.

Now people look at this and complain that the caffeine is extremely low for a self proclaimed "Extreme" Pre workout. Please look closely at the Ingredient profile, Eria Jarensis Extract is a very potent Stimulant, Also Theobromine is a cardiac Stimulant and Diuretic, so the total Stimulant blend is 250mg per scoop which is very high as many take 2 scoops

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

The Taste is amazing, which should be expected with almost 20% flavors and colors. Kraken has followed the growing trend of Candy based flavors so it is a little sweet but I enjoyed it very much, you will get the Bitter Agmatine after taste which isnt too bad but it is there. To me its a good sign of quality active ingredients

Mixability is okay, you will get some sinkers at the bottom of your cup as is with most pre-workouts. There is a small risk of clumping in the tub due to the pump ingredients, but if you are like me, I take the scoop full directly into my mouth and swish it around with water.

Dosing : You can look at this 2 ways. on a 1 scoop serve the ingredients are not efficaciously dosed its essentially half of everything. But if you arent a stim junkie like myself then it is more than enough. If you enjoy using fully dosed pre-workouts then the 2 scoops will be good and potentially extreme
with 500mg of active stimulants. Also the 1 scoop serve makes this product really good with stacking it with a good Pump Product.

    Effectiveness

The 1 scoop serve was perfect for my needs, 200-250mg of stimulants is my threshold for a single serve, the energy came quick and was well sustained for a solid 1.5 hour workout, the endurance was good with the Beta Alanine and the pumps were great without stacking it with anything.
The only issue I will comment on is the mental focus was not apparent. I worked out well but didnt get that Dialed in, Tunnel vision focus.
With the high dosing there was no crashing later on in the day which was what i expected

    Value

The value in the Canadian market is fair, it is smack in the middle of what you can expect for a Pre-workout. I have seen prices from $49.99 - $59.99 per tub, as i only take 1 scoop i have a full 40 serves making it $1.25 - $1.50 per serve.

    Side Effects

No side effects during my use of the product. If you are sensitive to Beta Alanine then you might get some tingles or itchy feelings under your skin. If you are sensitive to stimulants then be careful with the dosing, Be aware that the 100mg of Caffeine is not the sole source of stimulants in the product.

    Conclusion

Great product. This is one of my staple pre-workouts that i will rotate through with 2 others. Great energy, great pump without a crash.

    Introduction

Redcon1, one of the hottest and Fastest growing supplement companies in the industry today, Just over 1 year old and their products are all over the world with a huge line of products covering almost every category. You may know the owner Aaron Singerman from his days at Blackstone Labs, As far as we know he is still apart of that company along with many others, but Redcon1 is his stand alone line, the one he puts most of his direct attention into.
RPG. Glucose Disposal Agent allegedly used to help transport Carbohydrates into the muscle cell in a controlled manner. When digesting carbs your pancreas will release insulin, but if the Insulin is spiked too rapidly oversaturating the muscle which then causes "spillover" into fat cells to be stored as energy for later on. RPG keeps this transport under control to allegedly keep your body in a much greater anabolic state.

    Ingredient Profile

Each serving size is 4 Capsules.
Chromium Polynicotinate - 300mcg ( helps regulate Blood sugar levels with Pre-diabetics.)
Biotin - 5mg ( Vitamin H, helps the body convert food into Energy)

Gymnema Sylvestre Powder - 1g (supports balanced blood sugars and dulls the palate to the taste of sweets)
Bitter Melon Powder - 500mg ( lower blood glucose levels)
Cinnamon Bark Extract - 500mg ( Antioxidant, Anti Inflammatory, GI health)
Berberine HCL - 300mg ( lower blood sugar, Antibacterial, Anti Inflammatory)
    R-Alpha Lipoic Acid - 100mg ( ALA, antioxidant,
Banaba Leaf Extract - 60mg ( Higher Glucose Tolerance, decreased Blood sugar level)
    Paradoxine - 25mg ( Known as Vitamin B6)

Label does warn not to exceed more than 1 serving at a single time and no more than 2 servings per/day (8pills) and these are to be used for a moderate to high level of Carbohydrate Ingestion 50-100mg.

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

    Taste - N/A
    Mixability - N/A
Dosing - Individually some of the ingredients are underdosed like the Chromium, Banaba, R-ALA, BUT you should know that all of the ingredients are to work together in a synergistic way, having each individual ingredient brought up to daily efficacious doses may have a negative effect to your body or a counter effect to the other ingredients.

    Effectiveness

Depending on the GDA some say to take it pre-workout with your fast digesting Carb supplement.
With Redcon1 i would not go higher than 1 serving/day and usually took it just before ingesting a high carb meal which is normally post workout or Dinner.
I will warn that you HAVE TO ingest carbs closely after taking this supplement, around the 20-30min mark after taking the supplement I could definitely feel my blood sugar crashing, making me nauseous and light headed. Which is the first sign that the product is work.
Now the weight on the scale didnt drop, but a couple weeks in i could visually see my body getting leaner/harder. My body was also looking fuller almost all day, The pump was very good and long lasting, to me thats another sign that the carbohydrates are being shuttled into my muscles at a good lasting pace.

    Value

In Canada the product at face value is a little pricey, but compared to other GDAs it is very fairly priced. Average is around $69.99 - $79.99 making this $1.16/serve - $1.33/serve.

    Side Effects

Nothing to report here of any concern. There is no bloating that you might expect with other cheaper GDAs
The only issue was the nausea if I didnt ingest any Carbs after taking the supplement.

    Conclusion

This product is not an invitation to eat any sort or amount of carbs throughout the day. As i put in most of my reviews, this is another tool inside the tool box along with good nutrition and exercise. As GDAs are relatively new to the market compared to other supplements I do not know if there would be any issue staying on a GDA year round. I personally and going to cycle this to 2x a year. When i start my cut and when i start my Winter Season as those are 2x when body recomposition goals are focused on.

    Introduction

Hello SR Fam. I used this product several months ago at the start of my cut. It was on sale so i couldnt resist trying it out. Isopures big push is their Zero Carb Zero Sugar Pure protein Isolate free of gluten, lactose or any other impurity.
Isopure is a part of the very large Glanbia Nutrition corporation. Bringers of some of the largest supplement brands on the market today. Several of Glanbias brands are among the most popular and widely used.
Isopure uses an Ion Exchange Microfiltered Process Whey protein Isolate which will bring out some of the cleanest proteins when mixed with liquid. Coupled with their added amino acid profile you get their effective optimal protein to reach your health or fitness goals.

    Ingredient Profile

Again its an Ion Exchange Milk Protein Isolate, Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolate along with an added Amino Acid blend. Now before people start screaming about spiking Aminos, the fact that on label they are "added" aminos discloses that the profile is on top of the Whey Protein Isolate which is very different then spiking your protein profile with aminos and counting it towards your protein count. ( hope that difference makes sense to you all). As you should expect the fat and carbs are 0-1 gram depending on the flavor.

The protein is also filled with Vitamins A-K, B6 and 12 along with several electrolytes

On label you are given the breakdown for a 2 scoop (65g) serving, give you about 21 servings for a 3lbs tub.
Using the Dutch Chocolate flavor you will see that when you add up all the active ingredients they total 52.5grams = approx 80% active ingredients and 20% flavor, colors, thickening and fillers.

This is right in the middle of what i see to be an acceptable range for a strictly Isolate protein on the low end you'll see profiles in the 70s and really truly clean Isolates in the 90%s.

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste: Initially you will get a strong flavor but after a few seconds the Electrolytes start coming through and you will be left will a Salty and slightly metallic after taste in your mouth. I have tried both Dutch Chocolate and Vanilla and got the same experience with both.

Mixability: It mixed fairly well, but for a Microfiltered Isolate i was somewhat disappointed. After vigorously shaking my bottle I was left with chunks of unmixed protein every time. I would have to let the liquid settle and then shake it vigorously a 2nd time

Dosing: 50grams of protein per serve is right where I like it. Calories are as low as you should expect for an Isolate.

    Effectiveness

The Protein is clean and without much filler. Assuming you have your macronutrients measured out well this product gives you a very good amount of protein post workout. It can be used throughout the day if you wish but as an Isolate without any carbs or Fats are more quickly digested int he system I would see no use for ingesting Isopure at any other time but Post Workout or maybe first thing in the morning.

    Value

Here in Canada the regular price for a 3lb tub ranges from $44.99 - $59.99 making this $2.14/serve - $2.85/serve. This is very expensive even for an Isolate. This pricing is actually higher then most Hydrolysate Proteins. Like mentioned above I bought a couple tubs when it was on sale for a much more reasonable price.
If you dont need so much protein at once or in your daily macro count then a 1 scoop serving brings the price well into reasonable range

    Side Effects

    Nothing to mention
There is that salty after taste which was slightly metallic at times

    Conclusion

Its a good Isolate protein. This would not be near the top of my list because of the price and the flavour

    Introduction

Optimum Nutrition, A staple company in the industry for years on end. ON is one of the few brands known by lifters and non lifters alike. ON has always held a reputation for bringing out quality products and great taste. With the sudden popularity of energy and stimulants ON has brought forth their version of a "Pick me Up" drink that can be sipped throughout the day with the benefit of Essential Amino Acids to help with muscle recovery, focus and energy.

    Ingredient Profile

Each serving size is 2 scoops (9grams)
When you break down the 9gram serving there are 57% active ingredients listed below and 43% colors, additions and artificial flavors. On paper 57% actives are quite low for an Amino Acid supplement, I like to see the actives at least 70-80% but on the flip side you can expect a great tasting drink.

    "Amino Blend" 5 Grams
All Micronized Taurine, Glutamine, Arginine, Leucine, Beta Alanine, citrulline, Isoleucine, Valine, Tyrosine, Histidine, Lysine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Methionine.

    "Energy Blend" 160mg
Caffiene, Green Tea Extract, Green Coffee Extract.

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste: Dont expect anything less then what you are used to with ON, the flavors are good and with the wide range of available flavors including their cafe series you will easily find one you love.
Mixability: all the active ingredients are micronized, there will be little to no trouble having this dissolve in water, i have been able to mix this simply with a spoon without too much vigor so a Shaker bottle is not necessarily needed.
Dosing: This is where i tend to have the largest concerns. The 5g of Aminos are under a proprietary blend so we cant know exactly what doses we are getting of any amino. So at first glance i would have to assume that this is a little under dosed.

    Effectiveness

This area took me a while to wrap my head around. Please understand that the Proprietary blending is not inherently wrong and until just a few years ago the majority of supplements were prop blends but without knowing the exact doses I am a little confused at what I can use this product for.
As a pre-workout there are too many ingredients missing and you dont know the ratio of stimulants you're getting
As an Amino supplement it is hard to determine if there are enough active ingredients to support Muscle recovery, protein synthesis or endurance.
What i will say though is that as a general "pick me up" it is great, This is obviously dependent on each individuals caffeine tolerance, but having it in the morning or when the mid day blues kick in, it works just fine with giving you a subtle kick of energy. I enjoy the cafe series and add 1 or 2 scoops to my morning coffee instead of any sweeteners or creamers.
With the above said though I do not look to This product as my daily EAA supplement so the 5 grams are irrelevant, i use this strictly as a pick me up.

    Value

Now Value is why this product is not rated as low as my review might suggest it should be.
ON EA Energy ranges from $14.99 - $26.99 here in the Canadian market, Also depending on how much caffeine you want and knowing that this may not be the ideal Amino Acid supplement then 1 or 2 scoop servings are fine. At the labelled 2 scoop serving and if i take the mid level price listed ($19.99) you are at $0.33cents per 1 scoop serve or $0.66cents per 2 scoop serve.
This is extremely cheap for either a caffeine or Amino source.

    Side Effects

Nothing bothered my here. The Caffeine wasnt so high that i needed a buffer or ingredients to keep the risk of crashing away.

    Conclusion

The Product for me is fine as long as you know what you are using it for. Personally The Aminos are not the primary use. I use this strictly as a subtle and great tasting caffeine source that isnt too high that could result in sweats or jitters. It is just enough, similar to a daily or morning coffee and cheaper than a cup of coffee too.

Hello again. 5% Nutrition by Rich Piana ( Rest in Peace). The massive individual against Macro-Nutrient sources that wasnt from whole foods. I am currently not on any specific program, im not looking to grow or cut drastically anytime soon, I wanted a carb source and finally landed on Real Food

    Introduction

The key is in the simplicity of this product, this particular review will be shorter than normal but hopefully by the end you will understand why.
When looking for a Carb source I was not intending on using it Intra or post workout, i did not want any rapid absorption or Insulin response, so i was looking to stay away from Dextrose, Maltodextrin, Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin and so on. I wanted something to literally replace a whole food carb source when I was not hungry but needed to fill in my macros.
Real Food was pretty much the only product I could find that fit my current need, Im sure there are more out there but I am also too lazy to keep looking around extensively.
As far as we know Rich Piana was against overly processed macronutrients, Now a lot of people may argue the Semantics of his personal stance vs his supplement line which is processed by nature, so lets forget all that and just look at the Product at face value.

    Ingredient Profile

Essentially Rich Piana wanted certain carb sources, dehydrated them and processed it into powder form.
    Serving Size 1scoop 30g
    Pounded Yams 10,000mg
    Oats 7000mg
    Sweet Potato 10,000mg
    Blueberry Fruit 500mg

If you add up all the active ingredients you get 27g or 90% leaving 3g or 10% for colors, flavors etc. This is a very impressive ratio.
Each serving will give you 20grams of Carbohydrates.

    Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste is great. There are currently 2 flavors, Sweet potato Pie and Blueberry Cobbler, The Sweet Potato is very yummy with a creamy cake undertone especially when mixed with a good Vanilla protein powder. The Blueberry is a little sweet on the palate but not over bearing.
Now when you are judging the mixability be careful, these are whole food sources, so you will have chunks of oats floating all throughout the bottle then settling on the bottom, you will need to shake your bottle before every sip. Still easy to drink as long as you dont mind chewing on the oats, but it is better used when blending the product.
There isnt anything to comment on dosing. its a carb source and you get carbs.

    Effectiveness

As mentioned above it is all depending on your need. As a carb source to fit your macros throughout the day it is perfect, Complex Carbohydrate sources that will not drastically spike your Insulin or absorb immediately.
I would not find this ideal as an Intra Workout source as the digestion will be very slow or for Immediate Post workout as again the digestion and absorption will be slow, but if you need to fill in your carbs with a shake, smoothie, sludge or oatmeal then this is a great product.

    Value

This was my only real issue with the product. Here in Canada it is a little expensive, I have seen it on sale for roughly $50 up to $79.99. For a 60 serving tub it is a little expensive for a slow digesting carb source without any other ingredient or need

    Side Effects

I have been fine with the product. It is sweetened with Sucralose so for those that dont like artificial sweeteners might want to stay away
It is a Complex Carb source, because it is in powder form doesnt change your Daily caloric intake or need. If you drink too much of it beyond your need you will gain some weight.

    Conclusion

Overall, if you can find this on sale then it is a good product. It is definitely not needed as you can eat the same complex carbs instead of buying a supplement. If you are on a Lean Bulk and are the type of person that just cant higher volumes of clean whole foods then it is a great Carbohydrate product.

      Quick Summary

CORE Nutritionals is a reputable company run by natural bodybuilding Pro Doug Miller. He prides his entire CORE Nutritional lines by using quality ingredients, Efficacious dosing and transparency in labeling. ABC is no different.

      Introduction

I have been a large fan of Doug Miller and CORE Nutritionals for many years. I have used several of his products and experienced favourable results. ABC was a little difficult to get in the country that I am in until recently. Once the opportunity came up, I jumped on the chance of picking up a couple tubs. ABC is Core Nutritionals Flagship Amino Acid supplement, specifically BCAAs. Doug Millers claim with ABC is a reduction in DOMS, assistance with Muscle recovery and support with Muscular Endurance. Couple all this with the desired nutrition and exercise needed for your particular goals, the ABC will help you build muscle without gaining any unnecessary fat.

      Ingredient Profile

I have to start by saying that the supplement label is for a 2 scoop serve (20g).

      L-Leucine 5 grams
      L-Isoleucine 2.5 grams
      L-Valine 2.5 grams
These Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs)in a 2:1:1 ratio: BCAAs are 3 of 9 Essential Amino Acids (EAAs), Studies state that people consuming the EAAs with every meal have a reduced level of Visceral Belly Fat and more lean muscle mass. The BCAAs of those EAAs have been shown to improve recovery from muscle soreness, trigger protein synthesis when combined with resistance training and minimize muscle loss during injury or inability to train.

      L- Glutamine 2.5 grams
Glutamine is a Non Essential Amino acid used to help with Gastrointestinal health, Promote Muscle growth while decreasing muscle waste(Loss) and improve athletic performance and recovery in endurance athletes.

      CarnoSyn Beta-Alanine 2.5 grams
Another Non Essential Amino Acid produced in the liver. CarnoSyn is the highest quality of Beta Alanine you can get. Beta Alanine in essence helps with muscular endurance. You can workout harder for longer. Beta Alanine combines with another Amino acid called Histidine in a muscle forming Carnosine, This Carnosine increases the muscles capacity for Hydrogen ions. In Short as you work out you build up Lactic Acid levels which break down into Hydrogen ions, this is the feeling of burn and inability to contract the muscle. Carnosyn Beta Alanine prolongs that effect allowing a longer workout at peak level

      Citrulline Malate 2.5 grams
This increases blood flow allowing you to convert it into L-Arginine and then into Nitric Oxide. In short it helps with the pump and vasodilation

      Taste/Mixability/Dosing

Taste is amazing. i have tried both Australian Gummy Snakes and the Strawberry Pineapple. Both were on the sweet side but not sickly sweet. There are no artificial colors in any ABC flavor.
Mixability is as good as you can expect for Branched Chain Aminos. The Leucine in particular is "Hydrophobic" it essentially does not mix with water, so as with any Amino supplement using high grade BCAAs you will get a little bit of floating particles on the top, easy fix is to shake before every sip, no big deal knowing you are getting higher quality.
The Dosing is where some may have an issue, everything listed above is for a 2 scoop serve. At 1 scoop you obviously only get half of everything. This will be explained further in the Value section.

      Effectiveness

Before you read on please understand why you are using an Amino supplement, these alone will not magically build heaps of muscle and wont help with reducing pounds of fat. It is another tool in your Body composition tool box to help you towards your goals. That being said i love using this both intra-workout and to sip on throughout the day. The endurance is definitely apparent as i fatigue a lot less quickly and i get those Beta Alanine tingles which i love. I Intermittent Fast so having in before my first meal to stop any Catabolizing effect from fasting is great. Now i dont get much of a pump from the Citrulline Malate but i generally dont respond to any sort of Nitric Oxide product.

      Value

Now this is all dependent on how you use it. The average price ive seen online is roughly $69.99 a tub making it $1.39/serve. This alone is a little bit expensive.
If you are content with a 1 scoop serve then you will have 100 serves per tub @ .69cents/serve. Now, you may not be getting clinical doses on the ingredients at 1 scoop, but if you are taking this with a Pre-workout that already has some Beta Alanine, Creatine, Citrulline or Agmatine then a 1 scooper is all you will need, making this The best priced Amino Acid supplement on the market with 1 scoop servings.

      Side Effects

I have had no side effects using ABC and i am 3 tubs in. I will say that you definitely feel the CarnoSyn Beta Alanine, this could range from slight tingles throughout your body to as much as an extreme burning/itching sensation under your skin. This is all individual and you will have to experiment to see what level of tolerance you have to the Beta Alanine. I personally get the tingles and i quiet enjoy them.

      Conclusion

I love this product both as an All day drink or an Intra-workout. Again depending on the number of scoops you take per day this can be either on the higher priced BCAA supplements or among the cheapest. Outside of just Resistance training I also play a lot of sports. ABC is a perfect replacement to those high sugar, high carb sports recovery/energy drinks sold in stores.
