It’s made with a caffeine, chemical, dairy, filler, gluten, GMO, soy, and synthetic free formula that includes d-aspartic acid, fenugreek extract, vitamin d3, zinc, Korean red ginseng extract, boron, nettle leaf extract, magnesium, vitamin b6, vitamin k1, and bioperine.

While all of these are natural ingredients and most boost testosterone levels, the doses used are nowhere near what’s required. This leads to Testogen being a combination of ineffective and unsafe.

Costing $59.99 for a month’s supply of 120 Testogen capsules, it is also a reasonably expensive product, especially given its ineffectiveness.

Testogen claims it stimulates testosterone production enough to enhance energy levels and muscle contractions.

Testogen Ingredients

D-Aspartic Acid

D-aspartic acid is a version of the amino acid aspartic acid, which controls testosterone synthesis and is vital in male fertility. It can be prescribed as a short term remedy for infertile men and to athletes as a natural testosterone booster.

With 2,352 mg of d-aspartic acid present in every dose of Testogen, it’s within the useful levels. However, with the optimal dose believed to be 3,000 mg per day, there are certainly testosterone boosters on the market that make much better use of this ingredient (1).

Health Nutrition Limited also state you can use Testogen long term. Most studies agree that d-aspartic acid only works for a week to ten days at a time, so its presence will be wasted for most of the time you’re using the supplement.

For vitamin d3 to effect your testosterone levels, 4,000 to 5,000 mcg must be consumed each day. With Testogen containing just 50 mcg per serving, it won’t have any effect.

Zinc

Boron

Boron is a metal element and mineral that’s proven to boost testosterone in all humans but is particularly effective in men.

The problem is, for boron to boost testosterone levels, you must consume at least 10 mg per day (7). This means the 8 mg present in each serving of Testogen is unlikely to be able to produce the desired effect.

Nettle Leaf Extract

Nettle leaf extract doesn’t stimulate testosterone production directly, rather, it binds to sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). As sex hormone binding globulin inhibits testosterone production, preventing it from doing so will boost your free testosterone levels exponentially.

Nettle leaf extract also has numerous other health benefits it offers, including keeping the prostate and urinary tract healthy and functioning as a powerful anti-inflammatory.

Unfortunately, at least 120mg of nettle leaf extract is required per day for it to be effective (8). With Testogen only having a third of this amount at 40 mg per serving, it will have no effect.

Magnesium

Magnesium supplementation positively influences anabolic hormones in the human body to increase both total and free testosterone levels. However, for this to occur, 250 to 350 mg of magnesium should be ingested each day (9).

As Testogen features only 200 mg of magnesium, its effects on testosterone concentration are likely to be very minimal.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 contains 6 compounds that are responsible for 140 different coenzyme reactions in the human body between them. It’s added to testosterone boosters as it prevents oestrogen synthesis, a hormone that suppresses free testosterone and reduces testosterone levels (10).

Other benefits of vitamin b6 supplementation include better amino acid, fat, and glucose metabolism, an improved immune system, and the more effective biosynthesis of neurotransmitters in the brain.

The problem is that 1.5 mg is the safe dosage of vitamin b6, and 10 mg is the absolute maximum you should consume in a day. With Testogen containing 20 mg of vitamin b6 per serving, it’s far too strong and has the potential to be dangerous.

Vitamin K1

While some forms of vitamin k can combat symptoms of low testosterone, vitamin k1 isn’t one of them (11). This means its inclusion in Testogen is worthless in this regard. It needs to be vitamin K2.

Bioperine

Bioperine doesn’t boost testosterone levels but it’s put in testosterone booster supplements as it boosts the bioavailability of their other ingredients. This means the testosterone production induced by said ingredients will be enhanced even further by the presence of bioperine.

Much like with all the other ingredients in Testogen though, the dosage is insufficient. With 10 mg required for effective bioavailability enhancement, the 5 mg present per serving will produce no effect (12).
