Virtus is an Estrogen Blocker manufactured by Iron Legion. It helps reduce the amount of the hormone estrogen in the body, encouraging an optimal muscle building and fat loss environment.
IntroductionA special thanks to Iron Legion for their support of the SR ER/TROOPs program. Today, I discuss my experiences with their new topical AI Virtus (where is Virtus by the way?). Topicals have been popping up on the market quite a lot as of late, so it's no surprise that we would see a new topical AI hit the market especially because they are being used more frequently to help combat and prevent estrogen related side effects such as gyno, water bloat, fat gain, and libido loss from the lack of complimenting testosterone. I myself have never experienced such problems form estrogen but I've used OTC AIs before such as arimistane to aid in cutting and recomping. I used Virtus for the same thing, to help in mostly a recomp.
So does it work?
Ingredient ProfileThe active ingredient in Virtus is a new aromatase inhibiting compound called 7-hydroxy-4-imidazolyl-flavan. Little information is available on this compound. It is touted to be 10 times more potent than formestane and drastically more potent than other non-steroidal AIs. Bold claims if you ask me.
PiccoloPete posted a link to a user's experience with it that consisted of blood work so I suggest going to his review to see that link and observe the results.
I've also seen other reviews on other sites with positive notes but a majority of these reviews are limited in information.
In all, I really can't provide much information on this compound simply on the fact that not much info could be found.
Taste/Mixability/DosingIt's a topical so no taste or mixability to talk about.
Dosing directions instruct 1-2ml a day to be applied to areas such as the chest, shoulders, and upper back. I applied 2ml every evening after a shower rotating sites every three days to my chest, shoulders, and traps. The product dried quickly without and residue and had an interesting aroma to it that reminded you of cedar wood. Nothing unpleasant though.
EffectivenessA couple of things I'd like to note beforehand. First, I do not have any blood work to accurately depict the product's hormonal effects so my apologies on that. Second, I used this as part of a natty supplement regimen as opposed to an on cycle AI or estrogen spike prevention protocol. Though, I can imagine as the product becomes more widely available, that won't be the case with many users. Third, I opted to purchase a second bottle for a full 4 week cycle.
I'm going to categorize the benefits since Virtus is claimed to have so much to offer.
Strength (7/10): I was not setting any record breaking PRs but I was able to lift slightly heavier weight on a majority of my lifts. On average most of these lifts when up about 5 lbs. For example, I front squatted 255 lbs up from 250 lbs 250 one rep max and performed a snatch-grip rack pull of 495 lbs which is up from 490 lbs previous. I also saw some modest increased on a few isolation movements such as dumbbell curls and tricep skull crushers. In all, Virtus gave me some good strength gains for a natty product.
Libido (10/10): I mean.....is this topical viagra? My libido was beyond the reach of the solar system with this stuff. Perfect timing too, since I've got me a new bae (no chef it's not a goat). Was horny all the time and even has some spontaneous wood during my workouts which is actually dangerous depending on what you're training that day lol. Libido is definitely one of Virtus's highlights here.
Fat loss (6/10): I did see some improved definition in a few areas and had some more visible striations on my mid-section. Though, I would not deem the fat loss a significant benefit here. I'll give Virtus the benefit of the doubt simply because I was still eating slightly above maintenance. Had I been eating a more restricted caloric intake, I believe I would have seen more significant fat loss.
Hardness/Bloat Reduction (7/10): I did see feel my physique to be harder and more vascular during and after my workouts. Particularly my back, legs, and arms is where I felt the hardness the most. Saw some new veins on my chest and shoulders as well.
Overall (8/10): Virtus scores an 8 out of 10 overall in my book. It provided me with newly found strength, hardened my physique, increase vascularity, aided in some loss of fat, and made me hornier than a three balled elephant.
ValueAs you can imagine, Virtus doesn't come cheap. The cheapest price I can find was 39.99, but I'm pretty sure this was a sale price. The lowest non-sale price I found was 49.95. The price value depends heavily on how much you find yourself using. If you were to just use 1ml each vial would last 30 days which improves the value. 2ml means it will last a mere 15 days, so you'd need an additional vial or more depending on how long you intend on running it, making it a more expensive investment. Overall, Virtus is a great product but the price may have you second guessing at times. Best to catch it on sale or bulk deals.
Side EffectsA little acne but nothing serious
ConclusionVirtus may in fact represent the new generation of topical AIs and effective estrogen control in general. My advice other than having your training and diet in check is to experiment with the dosing to find your personal sweet spot and catch the product on deals.
IntroductionThanks Iron Legion for the opportunity to run Virtus. I had amazing results in terms of muscle hardness, strength, mood and libido. I have continued to train 3-4 days a week and focus on big compound movements like squats, bench, deadlift and OHP. I have included more accessory isolation movements on all lift/body parts.
Ingredient Profile7-hydroxy-4-imidazolyl-flavan this is a new OTC aromatase inhibitor. I couldn't find too much information but there was a post of someone who ran Virtus with his TRT and posted blood work and you can see how effective it was. Ill post the link below.
As a natty I am always looking for something to give me a little extra boost Virtus did this for sure!
Taste/Mixability/Dosing0 taste and mixability as this is a transdermal product.
Dosing can be very flexible the bottle instructions say to apply anywhere from .5ml - 1ml on either the chest, shoulders, back and traps. I dosed this at 1ml in the morning. According to the Rep there is no benefit to split the dose on Virtus.
Somethings to note Virtus has a slight woody aroma and a very light oil texture, it dries fairly quickly but leaves a little bit of that oil residue.
EffectivenessI did not get blood work while on Virtus so I can't be 100% that this helped with the first claims by Iron Legion that this will reduce estrogen and also boost test levels. What I can do is state some of the results that I got from using Virtus!
I could tell Virtus was working right about the end of the second week after starting. Libido was the only thing that was up within the first couple applications!
Strength - I had ups and downs with this because food was not always on point. When food was on point my strength was there and more. If you have followed me a while you know that my squats where pretty low. 225 was my 1RM and I needed a spotter to be present while on Virtus I was able to squat 275 for 2 solid reps without a spotter. This might not be impressive for others but for me it's a huge accomplishment. I can also reps 225 anywhere from 5-7 reps. I am working on getting 225x10 in the near future! Deadlifts have also moved nicely I have been able to consistently improve my form and up my rep range. While on Virtus I didn't try any weight PR's on Deads because I have been trying to adjust from conventional to Sumo. I know was able to rep 315x5x4 different sets and a couple sets of 6 reps! this was a super long deadlift party! I also had a few good bench days I was able to hit 225x3 and then tried 235x1, 245x1 and nailed them.
Libido - This was just through the roof. I'll leave it at that!
Mood - I really always felt great, even on days with extra stress from work. I was able to stay positive and happy for the most part!
Muscle hardness - We all love that pumped feeling we get from our workouts, where we feel larger than life and those gym mirrors fuel our EGO. Well with Virtus that carried on to my home mirror. Even after doing cardio my legs, chest, shoulders and back would have this constant pump.
ValueVirtus is not on the cheapest AI on the market but I still believe it has a competitive price point. Iron legion sells this on their website for 59.99+8 shipping without any sales you end up paying around 67.99. If you buy it today with their Black Friday coupon code (BF45) you will pay 40.99 for a bottle. Again this bottle can be dosed at .5ml and last you 60 days or 1ml and last you 30 days. It will all depend on how you feel while on it.
Side EffectsExtreme Libido if you consider that a side effect! Its welcomed in my book!
ConclusionI was very pleased with Virtus! I had amazing results and even though it's not the cheapest AI out there it is very effective. I will definitely be looking to building a better stack for it next time. Another awesome not that I forgot to mention is 0 dry joints and no joint pain. If you have taken Arimistane then you know how uncool that feels. All in all, Virtus is a very Solid product!
As always Thanks SR for the connection possible!
