New phone suggestions « : September 07, 2017, 10:29:54 AM »
Just broke my phone, need a new one anyway.  I have a Sony expiria z3 and I live this thing. Best one I have had.  I can pay the 140 bucks and get another one but it will just be refurbished.
I want a note 8 as they seem pretty awesome.
Or possibly switching to the Apple phone.

Thoughts?

I had the Note 7... 2 of them. Never exploded, but I was forced to return it. It was a great phone

I've got the Galaxy S5 I think, which was a great phone 2 years ago when I got it, but not it's slow and clunky, especially in Google Maps - almost unusable.  Looking to upgrade soon too.

I recently switched from a Nexus 5X to a Google Pixel XL.  The Nexus 5X is a nice cheap option, the phone did great, but the battery barely got through a whole day without needing to be recharged, and I do not play games or anything, just surf apps and news.  The Nexus line (5X or 6P) is not a bad option.  On the other hand the Google Pixel XL is by far the best phone I have ever used (I used iPhones, Samsung, Nexus phones in the past), though it is pricey.  I sucked it up and bought it because I like to have a phone for the long haul and not upgrade or get the newest ones that come out.  I ain't got time for that crap!  I also use Google Fi cell service which is phenomenal and I think everyone should look into it to see if its a fit.  I went from $110 a month at AT&T to roughly around $40 a month now.  Good luck in your phone endeavors!

I had to upgrade my galaxy s4.  I have the s8 and it works for me.  However sometimes texting is goofy with the curved screen.  On a side note my kids love playing with the VR gear that came with it.

I've never heard of that!!  Very interesting.  Seems simple and affordable.  Do you find that coverage is better than with ATT?

I have an iPhone 7. It's a good phone... but the audio jack thing sucks

BTW if you pre-order the Note 8 now, you can get up to like $230 in accessories or something like that when it finally comes out

I have a Moto X Play.  I have had not issues with it so far but have only had it for 9 months.  Battery lasts a long time.

I would avoid any LG phones.  They are currently in class actions lawsuits due to a boot loop issue.  My wife had a Nexus 5X and it worked fine for 10 months then started the boot loop.  Could never get it to start up and had to get the phone company to replace it.  Seems to be an issue with other LG phones as well from the little I have seen on the web.

I have actually had better coverage with Google fi. They use the towers or Sprint. T mobile and us cellular. Plus the phones use voice over ip technology so you can talk over WiFi if you have no cell coverage.   Also used this in Mexico with no extra charges since they have a deal internationally in some countries.  I am actually in the process this week of switching my wife to my plan. You should check it out
