About

Hot Blood is a pre-workout made by Scitec Nutrition. It was formulated to help increase performance during high-intensity exercise.

At the time of writing, the product is on its third iteration – and is now also known as Hot Blood 3.0.

The product contains five types of creatine. This organic compound is said to help the muscles produce energy during heavy lifting or other forms of intense exercise. Beta-alanine is a modified amino acid which is thought to work with creatine to reduce fatigue, while caffeine could increase focus, energy and motivation.

Flavors include – or have included – “Blood Orange”, “Blue Guarana” and “Pink Lemonade”.

Hot blood? Let’s change the name to something like Hot Mess.
    —-Introduction—-

Hey again, I’m a college student trying to get some more gains now that winter is coming. I’ve taken a bunch of products (I think I’m a stim junkie) and got some more reviews cooking. I’d like to remind you that this is my personal and own opinion, it might not be the same as yours and the effects may vary from person to person. Now back to the product, like DJ Khaled said here comes “another one”. Sorry about any typo, trying to improve my english.

I must say I got this product for free after buying some protein, i did not buy it whatsoever but I did finish it.

    —-Ingredient Profile—-

Scoop scoop… 1 dose of the product is… 20 grams. Scoop is big, no doubt about it. Now, one serving gets you the following:

    – Carbs (5.9g), only 1.9 of those are sugars.

    – Niacine, biotine, folic acid: Ingredients that help with absorption of ingredients and they prevent a huge crash after training as well.

    – Multi Creatine Matrix (4.5g): This matrix contains up to 5 different types of creatine (Monohydrate, Kre-Alkaline, pyruvate, citrate and phosphate), dosages of each aren’t actually disclosed but it’s safe to say we are getting the recommended dose. If you don’t know what creatine is/does to you, it increases power output and gives minor increases in lean mass and anaerobic running capacity.

    – Aminos matrix (4.25g): Again, another non disclosed mix that contains a bunch of aminos (Arginine, Tyrosine, Taurine, ornithine), It isn’t clinically dosed as arginine would need to be at least 3 grams. In terms of what each ingredient does, Arginine is touted to increase nitric oxide activity in the body. Unfortunately, this effect appears to be unreliable in healthy adults, L-Tyrosine is an amino acid that is used to produce noradrenaline and dopamine, Taurine can aid various anti-oxidant defense systems and Ornithine appears to reduce elevated ammonia levels when supplemented.

    – Hot Blood multi complex (7.14g): Same as before, bunch of ingredients with their doses kept in secret, this one contains (L-Arginine AAKG, Beta-Alanine, Caffeine [300 mg], L-Carnitine HCL, Bioperine). Now, I have my doubts here, caffeine is the only disclosed ingredient so we have 6.84g left. It all comes down to the grams of L-Arginine, but seeing it first on the list makes it the most dosed ingredient so Beta Alanine is compromised (or severely compromised). You won’t trick us Scitec. B-Alanine has been shown to enhance muscular endurance, specially being able to perform 1 to 2 reps more when staying at an hypertrophy range (8 to 15 reps), caffeine is a powerful stimulant and it can be used to improve physical strength and endurance. It is classified as a nootropic because it sensitizes neurons and provides mental stimulation, bioperine aids with absorption as well.

    – Antioxidant matrix (0.23g): Green tea extract, grape seed extract and alpha lipoic acid.

    —-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-

    – It comes in 6 flavors: Raspberry, blue raspberry, pink lemonade, orange, orange-passionfruit and fruit punch. I’ve tried the raspberry flavor and it was disgusting. I don’t usually care about flavor that much but this one was horrible.

    – It mixed so-so, there are too many ingredients in the formula so you may have a bit of a problem. I’d recommend using a blender bottle as you won’t be able to mix it in a glass with a spoon.

    – Dosing, I tried half a scoop and 1 scoop only.

    —-Effectiveness—-
I’m gonna rate the product in the following aspects (pump, energy, performance, focus)

    – Half dose: Did not get a single pump, probably because the only ingredient(s) that it has are underdosed even taking a full scoop. Energy was mild, 150 mg of caffeine for me are close to nothing in terms of effects, it would probably be OK for someone with little to none experience with stimulants. No focus either, probably because this products lacks in this department. Performance, well, creatine definitely helps when grinding out those last reps, even though you are only getting 2.25 grams you can feel it, beta alanine did not bless me this time, almost non existant muscular endurance.

    – Full dose: This is where I stopped, anything more than 1 dose is too much caffeine. I did notice a bit of a pump going, even though I said these ingredients are underdosed I could feel them working but nothing to write home about. Energy was fine, 300mg of caff are a kick of energy but it was not long lasting and/or clean, it was more of a BANG followed by a hard crash. Focus was not there and performance improved, creatine did its work as supposed to and beta alanine started to work, it made it easier on those last sets.

As you may have figured out, this product relays heavily on creatine + caffeine, Scitec just added a bunch of fancy ingredients to trick us into buying it.

    —-Value—-

This product comes in weird sizes, 45 servings cost $30 (0.66/serv.), 15 servings cost $13.5 (0.9/serv) and 5 servings cost $8.99 (1.8/serv). I’m not going to lie, the 45 serv tub has, at first, good value but you’re only getting enough caffeine and creatine. It would be cheaper to buy those 2 things on bulk and it would work as good if not better.

    —-Side Effects—-

    Hard crash.

    —-Conclusion—-

All in all, fancy name, underdosed product that relies only on caffeine and creatine and horrible flavor. Hard PASS on this one. Now, I won’t give it a “NO” score because it may work for someone but it offers something that is lacking in comparison with the current market and it will probably be left behind (if it isn’t already)
