About

Redcon1 Silencer is a stimulant-free weight-loss product made by Redcon1. It is designed to aid fat loss without the stimulant effects of caffeine and other energy boosters.

The manufacturer says it includes acetyl-L-carnitine HCI (ALCAR) and L-carnitine tartrate to “mobilize body fat”, while garcinia cambogia extract is included to “reduce hunger” and prevent cravings.

The Redcon1 CEO also describes conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) as a “healthy fat” that helps the body burn fat. He also describes dandelion root extract as a “natural diuretic” that could prevent the body from retaining excess fluid.

As a non-stimulant product, Redcon1 Silencer can be taken at any time of day.

This Silences nothing but your will to try it!
—-Introduction—-
38 years old active duty Army, and I workout 4-5 days a week. This is my second review of my REDCON1 stack that I have been running. I added this to the stack to see if I could benefit from a non stim fat burner, though I am not looking to lose weight, but like everyone else there is plenty of fat to burn and lean out! This is only the second stim free fat burner I have ever taken, so lets see if this truly did silence some fat.

—-Ingredient Profile—-
Props to REDCON1 for a fully transparent label. It appears all of their products are like this, and this is becoming the industry standard, so I always appreciate it. Plus at my age I must know what I am putting into my body without any guess work.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCI (500mg) / L-Carnitine Tartrate (500mg):L-Carnitine is involved in energy metabolism and mitochondrial protection. It is made in the body, but can also be consumed through food. Supplementation of L-carnitine does not burn fat unless the individual is deficient in L-carnitine. Acetyl-L-Carnitine known as ALCAR has been shown to be very effective at alleviating the side effects of aging, like neurological decline and chronic fatigue. Theoretically, ALCAR supplementation for fat burning should work well, but studies on ALCAR in isolation do not show very good results. Fat loss is typically attributed to the increased activity done by people, from the increased energy they have from ALCAR supplementation. (Examine.com) Standard dosing here is between 500mg – 2g, so we have 1g when you combine the 2 forms of L-Carnitine. Goes well with ALA, which is included here, but this does not really seem to do much in my opinion.

Garcinia Cambrogia Extract (50% HCA) (500mg):This is said to aid in weight loss and joint pain, however, there remains insufficient evidence. Exact daily dosing also depends on too many factors (health, age, gender etc..) to pin point.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (60% Powder) (CLA TG) (500mg): CLA has been investigated to be a fat burner and health promoting agent due to its effect on a molecular signalling receptor family named PPAR which is related to fat burning, steroid signalling, inflammation, and glucose/lipid metabolism. However, human studies on CLA are very unreliable and the overall effects seen with CLA are not overly potent as well as sometimes contradicting. CLA is a good research standard to investigate fatty acids and the PPAR system, but its usage as a supplement for personal goals is quite lackluster. CLA tends to work better in obese and sedentary individuals, but even in this population it is quite unreliable in exerting benefit. (Examine.com) Dosing here is typically 3200 – 6400mg daily, so we fall quite short here in terms of dosing.

Dandelion Root Extract 4:1 (Taraxacum Officinale) (200mg): Dandelion is used for loss of appetite, upset stomach, intestinal gas, gallstones, joint pain, muscle aches, eczema, and bruises. Dandelion is also used to increase urine production and as a laxative to increase bowel movements. It is also used as skin toner, blood tonic, and digestive tonic. (WebMD) There of course is insufficient evidence on all of this. Dosing here depends on many factors, so hard to pin down. Again, seems like a filler ingredient to me.

Alpha Lipoc Acid (100mg): ALA is a fatty acid present in the mitochondria. It is involved in energy metabolism and may decrease blood glucose acutely. It is commonly taken with L-Carnitine supplements, as they are related in mechanisms. ALA provides a short but potent reduction of oxidation by increasing anti-oxidant enzymes. Here we have an antidoxant, with recommended doses between 300-600mg, we fall well short of that here. Sure this may go well with L-Carnitine, but not really doing much in terms of aiding fat loss.

Raspberry Ketone Powder 99% (50mg): The jury is out on this ingredient. There is a lot of debate on what these do if anything at all. Studies show that it can replicate the effects of Ephedrine or Synephrine in the human body, but that has only been seen in vitro (in a test tube), no studies exist for orally taking this. Also recommended dosing here starts at 870mg and ranges all the way to up to 5g, depending on your weight. Its possible this ingredient does nothing at all, even if it does this is severly underdosed. Me personally, I think this is just one of those filler ingredients that the mainstream public likes to see that really does nothing for you, but I have no factual evidence to back that up.

3,5-Diiodo-L-Thyronine (200mcg): Not much is known about this but people take diiodothyronine to lose weight, treat high cholesterol, and enhance bodybuilding. There is concern on this ingredient as any long term effects are unkown at this point. Here are some articles to read up on this https://academic.oup.com/endo/article-lookup/doi/10.1210/en.2014-1933 and https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9651103. Basically this is a big unknown, and I am not exactly psyched that I put something so unknown in my body.

Realistically the CLA, Garcinia, and 3,5-Diiodo-L-Thyronine are the only things in here to aid in fat loss. The rest are anti-oxidants or are there to boost energy in a non stim way to motivate you to workout harder to lose that weight. So not a great profile in my opinion at all, and I really do not like the addition of 3,5-Diiodo-L-Thyronine since I do not like to be a test case for unknown ingredients. Really, they should scrap all the nonsense ingredients in here and just make a CLA type product, because that dosage needs to be upped for sure along with others.

—-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-
Taste/Mixability: Pills so nothing to note here. Did not have any taste to them at all which is good.

Dosing: 4 pills a day. Directions call to take one serving a day or two servings a day for maximum results, allowing 5-6 hours between servings. I stuck with one serving a day with breakfast for the most part. The last week or so I moved to taking it upon waking up, but really did not make a difference.

—-Effectiveness—-
So I really do not think this did a thing for me. I saw no weight loss, which of course is not really a good factor but its something. When I took Size Slim‘s non stim fat burner I at least noticed my pants feeling looser, but that was not the case here. My diet is pretty much the same from when I took that up until now, it never really changes. There was no appetite suppression that I can speak of, at times I thought it was there, so even if it did exist it was so minor that you would not even notice. I am kind of at a loss what to write here because this just was not effective to me at all, at least it did not hurt me from what I can tell. I am starting to think this product was developed to compliment Double Tap (REDCON1 Stim Fat Burner), but on its own it really does not do a thing. I did not try to take 2 servings a day, but I doubt it really would have made a difference. Really you are better off just taking a CLA product with higher doses. Back to the drawing board guys!

—-Value—-
I bought this for $49.99 from the REDCON1 site. For 30 servings that comes out to be $1.67 a day which is crazy. Its hard to even compare this to the industry standards because it did nothing so therfore their really is no value here for me. You can find this for $39.95 from I’ll Pump You UP.com but again the value here is not there since their really are no results.

—-Side Effects—-
None noticed at least in the short term.

—-Conclusion—-
Being a Army guy, I expect a lot from a company that wants to name all of their products based on the military and cater to the Armed Forces. Silencer was disappointing to say the least. REDCON1 has a ton of great products out there, which you will see in later reviews from me in the near future, but this just seems like a product they jammed out to get in the non stim fat burner market. Nothing notable here, save your money guys and gals, there are better options out there. I cannot recommend this product for anyone!

Didn’t Do Much Silencing…
—-Introduction—-

Ah, the end of Summer. In comes the time when I enjoy overlong training sessions, snacking after eating a full meal & spending way to much time at my favorite restaurants. While Winter typically becomes everyone’s “bulking season”, I took a chance on making this winter my time to buckle down and cut down on some of my mistakes throughout my power-lifting career. Conveniently enough, in comes Redcon1‘s Silencer through the SR Trooper program, to what I think is the perfect start to my “cutting season”. To paint a picture for you, I spent 8 years as a power-lifter. I’m 5’11”, and at the end of August the scale read a topping 265 pounds. I have a lot of dense muscle mass & the last time I weighed under 230 pounds was freshman year of high school, right before football season began. I started this prep prepared, a good diet & my usual gallon of water a day, so why not toss in a simple fat burner to motivate myself a little bit.

Redcon1’s Silencer is a non-stimulant fat burner, and one of the few I’ve ever tried. The name stays true though, as my run with Silencer was met with little results & little change, and though it does have it’s benefits, it falls to the wayside compared to some other non-stimulant fat burners I’ve used before. What makes up Silencer, though? Let’s dig in.

—-Ingredient Profile—-

Silencer features a fully-disclosed ingredient label, as do all other Redcon1 products, which should already be impressing you. There’s no hiding or “fear of giving away our secret” intents here, it’s all wide open to us. Right off the bat is Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCL, and being similar to the simpler L-Carnitine, works with the metabolism of converting food into energy. Why is it here though? Carnitine helps transfer fat into your cells, where there it can be turned into fuel, most studies showing it most beneficial during intense exercise. Following up the Acetyl Carnitine, is L-Carnitine Tartrate, which actually prevents the body from having low levels of Carnitine, but even more so treats bodies who already suffer from having these low levels. Garcinia Cambogia is present here as well, at 50% HCA. HCA being the active ingredient in the Garcinia fruit, which when in reference to weight loss, is mostly discussed for it’s appetite suppressing effects. Following that up is the ever so popular CLA, a naturally produced fatty acid which seems to have picked up some steam over the past few years. Research shows it has some minor fat burning abilities in humans, but nothing set in stone or any studies that seem to convincing.

The bulk of Silencer is a little underwhelming, a little bit of appetite suppression & the typical array of ingredients we’re used to seeing in fat burners of all sorts. This is where it gets fun though, with the Dandelion Root Extract. If you’ve never used Dandelion before you’re in for a surprise, simply because it acts as a natural diuretic. The end goal being to flush out as much water as possible, or take off that excess water that people sometimes tend to carry if they’ve never taken a chance at dieting before. Alpha Lipoic Acid is another cool one found here, helping the body shift glucose into the muscles as opposed to fat cells, which can further increase those fat cells. We get a tiny bit of Raspberry Ketone Powder tossed down here at a small dose, but my opinion on Ketones isn’t the greatest. It’s said to help further break down fat within cells easier and help regulate metabolism, but there isn’t a single study out there convincing me of it’s claims. Ending this off is 3,5 Diiodo-L-Thyronine. A big word there! While I’m not all that familiar with it, it is a TH metabolite, simply being used to enhance the effects of the thyroid. Of all the reading, it’s biggest uses being energy expenditure, but this thyroid hormone also plays a huge role in the bodies ability to maintain energy metabolism, and make sure the body is absorbing all of the nutrients from food as quickly as possible, and efficiently.

—-Dosing—-

As per Redcon1’s instructions, one serving, or four capsules, are all that’s needed for “fat loss and metabolic support”. For the first three weeks, I stuck to the single serving per day & took all four of my capsules following my first meal of the day. The last few days of taking the product I bumped up to the “Maximum Results” dosing which is two servings daily, or four capsules twice daily. I would take the first serving after breakfast and the second after my afternoon snack, and it wasn’t until the two servings a day did I really notice some decent changes. I’ll break it down further below, but if you choose to do two servings daily, just know that makes this bottle only good for 15 days. If you’re in serious need of cutting water levels, such as leading up to a show or an event you want to look good at, go the stronger route. For the average person, the single dosing a day should be enough.

—-Effectiveness—-

As I said above, my first three weeks using Silencer, I was following the single serving per day regimen. All of this was along with diet, high water consumption and six days of intense training with cardio, so my expectations we’re pretty high. For the most part, I barely felt much of anything. There wasn’t much change in my appetite that was noticeable, besides the ability to eat a little more per sitting which could also occur from the consistency of eating larger meals than you’re used to, so I can’t lend it all to the product. A lot of non-stimulant fat burners have a heavy thermogenic effect to them, causing you to sweat more than usual which leads to an annoying amount of laundry, but never noticed much of that in my run with Silencer. When really looking back at my notes, I felt not much of anything at all. I’d say the most potent here was the Dandelion Root, which along with my gallon of water a day had me burning more calories from constantly running to the bathroom. On that note though, I did notice my water retention drop mildly, as my muscles starting taking on that “drier” feeling after the first 15 or so days. It felt really good and along with the diet, I feel it was the biggest benefit of the product on the single serving regimen.

My last week, I decided to give the two servings a day a try just for research purposes, and that’s when the water draining benefits hit full speed. A gallon of water wasn’t enough to keep me hydrated & I continued to feel more and more dry as I neared the end of the bottle. The night I took my last serving, I weighed in at 253.3, which was a pretty decent drop to see after the first month of “cutting”. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it was that helped the most, but without noticeable changes in appetite or much else besides getting rid of some water, I’d say that’s about all this was good for myself. I’m confident people can reap more benefits after a few months of use on Silencer, but my one month run didn’t impress me to much, barely at all.

—-Value—-

Silencer’s lowest cost online is $31.95 from IllPumpYouUp, which at maximum can run as a 30 day supply. Places like Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, and Redcon1’s website price it at $39.99. I’ve taken a wide array of stimulant free fat burners which feel as if they’re working in the first thirty days of use, and have a lot of noticeable benefits very quickly for significantly cheaper than this. The average price of a decent fat burner right around the $30 mark. So yeah, this is a little high up on the scale, but maybe worth a try at that $32 mark if you really want too.

—-Side Effects—-

No Side Effects

—-Conclusion—-

I always see drastic result differences in the fat burner category more than others, especially since everyone’s body has reactions to different products and ingredients. I wouldn’t talk you out of trying any of them, the worst one I’ve ever taken might be the greatest one for you and that’s the beautiful thing about the supplement industry, we can all have different opinions. Silencer didn’t do much for me, I’m forever grateful for the extra calories burned from bathroom runs but for what it’s worth I feel like this should’ve gone better. You can’t set your expectations too high really with a non-stimulant fat burning product, but I’m sure a lot more have more noticeable effects than what I experienced with Silencer over the last thirty days. Oh well, on to the next!

I’d like to thank both Redcon1 and SR.com’s Trooper Program for the bottle of Silencer!

3. Zsteinf

Justin Timberlake says, “sometimes it’s better to say nothing at all” so Silencer is not just a cleaver name
—-Quick Summary—-
A stimulant free supplement to help with weight loss but may not be effective.

—-Introduction—-
Thank you to Redcon1 for letting me try your weight loss supplement. I have tried several in the past but most are a miss but sometimes you get a hit. It is hard to find a weight loss supplement that does not have caffeine or stimulant. I am not sensitive to caffeine, but I am careful when it comes to supplements because I have headache problems. This product contained ingredients that do not hinder me or effect my headaches so it was worth a try. For me, this is a straight forward review because there is not much to say.

—-Ingredient Profile—-
The ingredients are stimulant free. Acteyl L-Carnitine 500 mg, L-Carnitine Tartrate 500 mg, Garcinia Cambogia 500 mg, Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA 500 mg, Dandelion Root 200 mg, Alpha Lipoic Acid 100 mg, Raspberry Ketone 50 mg, and 3, 5-Diiodo L-Thyronine 200 mcg. Carnitine is for energy used in sports and fat loss. Carnitine has also been linked to heart patients. Garcinia might help with fat storage, control appetite, and increase exercise endurance. Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA is an essential fatty acid for good health. CLA is a naturally occurring thing that could be found in meat and cheese type products. They can increase metabolism and help with the fatty acids within a body. Dandelion, of course, comes from the dandelions plant and lacks specific evidence to support anything but believed to help with weight loss. Alpha Lipoic Acid or ALA is needed by the body to produce the energy for normal functions. Alpha lipoic acid converts glucose (blood sugar) into energy. Raspberry Ketones have been around for a while and will break down the fats in cells for fat loss. Diiodo L-Thyronine works to boost metabolism and help with increased energy. Ingredients as good, so I give this a good rating.

—-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-
This is in capsule form so taste and mixability are not included. There are 30 servings per container and take at least 4 capsules per day. It suggested for most results you should take 4 capsules 2 times per day but do not exceed 8 in a 24-hour period and allow 5 to 6 hours between servings. I wanted to give Silencer enough time, so I stayed with just one serving per day to get 30 days. Giving the low dosing on this I would not say that this was a great amount. You would probably do better with taking 2 servings per day. I give this a middle ranking.

—-Effectiveness—-
I hate to say it but I did not find this an effective supplement. I consumed the capsules as recommended but did not take more than one serving per day. I took it either in the morning or after lunch. At no point did I feel it was working. I only lost 1 pound in the 30-day trial and I do not think much would have changed if I took 2 servings per day. There is not much I can really say so the effectiveness section is short. I give this a low rating.

—-Value—-
The company website showed them out of stock but the price was $42.24 or $1.40 per serving. If the supplement was effective with weight loss, then the cost is not bad. I did not have any success with the product so for me, the cost is higher than the benefits. If this is effective for you, then the cost may be worth it. This is something I would not buy again, so I have to give it a low ranking.

—-Side Effects—-
No side effects

—-Conclusion—-
I will have to end with a low overall ranking. The ingredients were fine. The dosing was low but it was easy to take. The product was not effective. The cost is too much since I did not have positive results. I had no side effects so that was a positive. All in all, just not much to brag about. I would not take this again.

4. Vaughn

Unfortunately, pretty silent on effects and feel, but loud on price
—-Quick Summary—-

A non stim fat burner that was minimally effective and expensive.

—-Introduction—-

Hey SR, back at it again to review Silencer by Redcon1, their stim free fat burner. For a non stim burner especially, I look for help in increased metabolism, appetite control, and mood enhancement to help stay away from the calories and burn some extra fat. This is critically important when you have the most stubborn pounds left and the fat is even harder to shred, so I’m always looking for something to help. I have had great success with Redcon1 products in the past so I was eager to give this a poo.

—-Ingredient Profile—-

As with most Redcon1 products, this has a solid ingredients and is fully disclosed. We get a full gram of carnitine from two sources in ALCAR and Tartate which is great. I do question the doses of CLA and Garcinia, as effective doses are much higher than this. The profile is then rounded out with Dandelion Root as a diuretic, ALA for antioxidant support, Thyronine for thyroid regulation, and raspberry ketone powder for metabolic support. A solid bunch of ingredients, but some I question in true effectiveness (raspberry ketone) and doses (CLA, garcinia). Overall though, I’ve used products with great synergistic effects so I was happy to give this a try.

—-Taste/Mixability/Dosing—-

No taste or mixability as these are easy to swallow pills. Dosing is 4 pills, 1-2 times a day on an empty stomach. I always took about an hour before dinner, once a day to help value.

—-Effectiveness—-

Honestly, I didn’t get much from this at all. Of course you aren’t going to get an energy boost that you can feel from this as it’s non stim, so you look for increased metabolism and weight loss, appetite control, and mood enhancement. As far as results, I didn’t lose much fat at all during my run of this but did lean out some from water retention. As far as appetite control and mood enhancement the effects were minimal at best. I just didn’t feel the support here like I have in other non stim fat burners. Maybe it was the low doses, and maybe if I took a 2nd serving it would have been more effective, but that would have destroyed the value for me (more on that next). Overall, I have loved Redcon1 products in the past, but this was pretty disappointing and will look elsewhere in terms of non stim fat burners.

—-Value—-

$43 for a 30 day supply if taking once a day. Maybe this would have worked better at twice a day, but I’m not paying $43 for a two week supply. Much too expensive for me overall.

—-Side Effects—-

None.

—-Conclusion—-

At this price point and effectiveness level I just can’t recommend this.
