Garcinia Cambogia Select: Nothing But Pure Hype

August 23, 2017 // In Supplement Scams // By saab

Garcinia Cambogia Select is a supplement that promises to aid in weight loss. Mainly made with Garcinia cambogia, a [what they claim to be] ‘breakthrough’ ingredient that helps in weight management, this diet pills are sold for $48 for a month’s supply. With only three ingredients present in their formula, this supplement sure comes with ridiculously bold claims. Now, the question is - does Garcinia Cambogia Select deliver to its promises?

The TL;DR to this post is that Garcinia Cambogia Select does not guarantee weight loss. Its main ingredient, garcinia cambogia, is nothing but pure hype as its efficacy on fat burning and weight loss does not extend to humans. If you’re looking to drop those extra pounds, check out our weight loss section.

Garcinia cambogia, a tropical fruit, is the ‘star’ of this weight loss supplement’s ingredient formula

Garcinia cambogia has gained popularity lately as it is touted to aid very well in weight loss. It has set a ridiculous hype which encouraged the production of many weight loss supplements containing the extract; Garcinia Cambogia Select is one of those. However, with only three ingredients present in this formula, will Garcinia Cambogia Select live to its hype?

Calcium (41mg) - Calcium is a dietary macromineral predominantly found in dairy products which is usually needed by the body in significantly high amounts, at times exceeding more than a gram daily. Supplementation isn’t necessary, as long as sufficient amounts of this mineral is obtained from the diet. Additionally, the amount of calcium found in Garcinia Cambogia Select obviously isn’t much.

Potassium (58mg) - Potassium is an essential dietary mineral found in high amounts in fruits,  vegetables, and also in legumes. Unlike calcium, it is common for many people to consume insufficient potassium through the diet alone, which makes modified supplementation ideal. However, supplemental potassium may post risks of cardiac arrhythmia when taken in large doses.

Garcinia cambogia (500mg) - Otherwise known as Malabar tamarind, garcinia cambogia is a small fruit that is traditionally used to enhance flavor in cooking. While it is a great source of hydroxycitric acids, it has very limited medicinal usage. One of its isomers -(-)hydroxycitric acid is touted to aid very well in weight loss and has been looked at in animal studies which appeared to be reliable. However, on a study conducted on overweight men and women over the course of 12 weeks, the 1500mg extract administered daily failed to any significant effects on weight loss. Additionally, its usage as a fat burner does not appear to be effective on humans, according to

Garcinia Cambogia Select claims to have double the dose of most extracts

Garcinia Cambogia claims to be better than most supplements of the same kind by boasting to have 800mg of the extract in their formula.

However, this is nothing but a big lie because each serving (one pill) of this supplement contains only 500mg of the fruit extract according to its supplement facts (pictured above), while the front label (pictured below) says ‘1000mg per serving.’ These statements create confusion as the supplement itself stated to consume only ONE pill prior to a meal.

Garcinia Cambogia Select is also being sold at Amazon, and most of the reviews aren’t very nice

It is no to surprise to find supplements like Garcinia Cambogia Select on online marketplaces like Amazon. However, what’s surprising is that the pills are being sold at a significantly lower price compared to its official websites, and the reviews published about this product aren’t exactly very positive. Apparently, most, if not all, of the people who purchased this weight loss supplement found no pleasing results. Here, have a look at some of the unsatisfied customer reviews found on Amazon:

“Disappointing; not satisfied; didn’t work” - these are among the negative feedbacks left by unsatisfied customers who purchased Garcinia Cambogia Select through Amazon.

Garcinia Cambogia Select’s marketing strategy is similar to Virility EX

One thing I noticed about Garcinia Cambogia Select’s marketing style is its resemblance to Virility EX, another suspicious supplement. From the order form, down to policies and contact numbers, these supplements both share the same things.

Side to side

Looks familiar? Both [shady] supplements are apparently manufactured by the same company.

Garcinia Cambogia Select  generously offers huge discounts on bundle purchases

It seems like Garcinia Cambogia Select is very generous on giving away huge discounts to their customers.  Have a look at this screen cap, for example:

Order form.png

A bottle of Garcinia Cambogia Select which is good for a month’s supply costs $48 plus any shipping and handling. Seems a little too much for a single bottle of these weight loss pills? Well, you can buy them in bundles and then you’ll be able to ‘save up’ as the manufacturer is offering discounts on multiple bottle purchases. On the screen cap posted above, they are offering the supplement for as low as $28.80 per bottle when you purchase their ‘buy 3 get 2 free’ bundle, which gives you, in return, a total of $96 in savings.

Who doesn’t like to discounts? Pretty much nobody. However, huge discounts on supplements like this seem shady to me. From $48, the manufacturer is willing to cut down the cost to $28.80 per bottle if you purchase in bundles. The $20 slash make me wonder how much money is ACTUALLY spent on manufacturing these pills if they’re willing to give big discounts that easily? Moreover, shipping and handling is free of charge on bundle purchases. Tempting? Not really; if it doesn’t exactly work, then it’s never worth the money.

The Bottomline

Garcinia Cambogia Select is nothing but pure hype. For $48 per bottle, it is obviously over priced. Additionally, it has been clear that no clinical trial [on garcinia cambogia] has been successful at providing positive results on its efficacy on weight loss. Don’t waste your money on products that don’t guarantee results; if you are looking to lose weight, feel free to have a look at our weight loss section.
