Recommended i took this for 3 months during football season in high school and packed on 15 lbs of muscle that i retained with no type of PCT just eating high protein/carb diet split between 6 large meals 30 minutes before a workout you take one, im in general a hard gainer i reached a high level of muscularity at a young age and got significant gaines with this product. I stacked it with cell tech and nitro tech taken religiously.....I again took it about a year ago when i was 20 but the new 17 HD platinum and the results off one bottle was crazy, people who dont gain using this must not have their diets in tact!!!!

Maybe Recommended I can't believe the company folded ;) not!!
well this company lies, lies, lies to it's customers. 17HD does not increase testosterone by 1% let alone 300% or what ever bogus amount they claim, all it really is is some fancy name for caffeine; look it up brothers!
I tried this product about two years ago alone to see what the verdict would be. took the red and white pill and in a 1/2 hr my heart rate and BP kicked into max OverDrive; a lil dizziness coupled with a real bad attitude!! aggression was good and stamina and strength were up (your thinking what is this cat ***'in about, I know.) well all that was awesome when training in the gym, but not so nice at home when trying to get to sleep. could not sleep at all for a while till i developed a tolerance to it. little or no sleep doesn't exactly equal recovery and muscle growth.
now this product isn't all bad, it does wake your ass up and get you in the mood to train, but it does not = muscle gains, and it does not increase test like it claims.
I still have some on hand in the event that i would have to fight Rampage Jackson in a street fight, or move a skyscraper with my bear hands.

NOT Recommended Either I was taking this product wrong or I don't know because this product did absolutely nothing for me except make me restless. It gave me no more energy than an 8 ounce can of redbull. All in all hated it.

NOT Recommended Alright, i wanna start off by saying i was given a bottle of 17-HD...there were still 33 pills left in a 60ct bottle. i took one pill a day, as directed for a month. on off days id take 1 in the morning before breakfast; on training days id take 1 a half hour before lifting. after a half hour or so, id notice a slight head change, and id get a lil giddy but nothing to write home about. it was comparable to drinking a monster or a cup of coffee (which is way cheaper). then id go hit the weights, and nothing came with this slight energy boost. i didnt lift more weight than i wouldve without the 17-HD. i didnt do anymore reps or anymore sets, and i still fizzled at the same point i wouldve without taking it, so there was no endurance boost. at the end of the month, i had gained a couple pounds, but i couldve done that anyways, in fact, i was focusing on eating more while taking it. i wasnt any leaner than 33 days before. also, it says its a testosterone amplifier on the bottle, so if nothing else, i was expecting some shorter recovery periods after lifting, but that didnt even happen. no matter how early i took the stuff, i always had trouble sleeping at night. when i finally did fall asleep, i didnt ever fall into a deep sleep and was always a wreck the next day...for a month straight. i definitely would NOT recommend spending the i$ for 17-HD. my only recommendation would be not to stray away from the basics: whey Protein and a multivitamin. then if you want quick gains add some creatine and a good arginine product. if you want better recovery, take some glutamine. but dont buy into a high sticker price and a shiny label...cough!MuscleTech!cough!....but thats a review for a different day. hope this review helps someone save a few bucks.

Recommended I was body building for a while when I took this supplement and I have tried other supplements and this is the only one in combination with vyotechs products that worked. I have tried gaspari but their stuff is garbage. I took 17hd in combination with Anabolic 7 and nitrobolic with astounding results. I weighed closed to 300 lbs and had a 36 inch waist. I did train everyday one muscle group at a time and fed myself plenty of lean Oryx Goat Whey protien in combination with Muscle Milk at night to keep my body working. I would definetely reccomend this product but they are stopping production for some reason.

NOT Recommended My friend (very rich) that I workout with started taking this stuff and basically described it as the miracle pill that added 50 pounds to his bench in 2 weeks. Me being the consummate skeptic that I am decided to see if there was any credible literature supporting these outrageous claims. Of course there wasnt, however I did come across a study published in ScienceDirect journal in 2008 that did an NMR analysis of it. This is what it had to say:
"In Fig. 2b the mass spectra of Vytech 17HD are presented, a supplement which should contain amongst others “17-halo-methyl-dianadrone”, beta-ecdysterone and wild yam extract. In reality however the [M+H]+ ion at m/z 195 and the fragment ions at m/z 138 and 110 are consistent with the DESI-MS/MS fragmentation pathway of caffeine as proposed by Williams et al. [24] J.P. Williams, N.M.M. Nibbering, B.N. Green, V.J. Patel and J.H. Scrivens, J. Mass Spectrom. 41 (2006), pp. 1277–1286. Full Text via CrossRef"

Sorry for the poor elaboration. I used 17HD for 2 weeks to gauge how it affected my weight room performance. Squat, bench, clean only saw marginal increases over that two week period (20 pounds to 3 rep max on squat, moved up about 10 pounds per set on bench, and clean was good some days, bad or the same on others). I did see a spike in pull ups, but I just added pull ups as the "focus" exercise on back days about 3 weeks ago. I went from about 8 reps on my first set to about 15 over the 2 weeks. I also felt energized after taking it, but it was not unlike the effect of slamming an energy drink or taking a scoop of NO Xplode. I now use it at night if I have to pull an all nighter studying and definitely will not buy another bottle once this runs out (5 hour energy works just as well for those all nighters). I'm not huge on taking a lot of supplements and just experiment with different products on occasion.

I understand what you're saying about this product and your general appraoch, I agree that many products do not work well. However, many products do in fact work well and I would just ask you do not shy away from the positive studies. As well, real results in the real world should also be considered.

As I'm reading the replies I see you do use some products and in fact used this product for two weeks. On average, you need to give most supplements about 6-8 weeks to really assess results, unless it's a energy type product which should work quickly. When you test again, how about a more controlled, 8 week approach?

@Martin - The purpose of this review was to shed light on the product and how the advertised compound works from a biochemical point of view. Information like this from a credible, third party source is virtually impossible to find, especially studies that test specific brands (as that article did). Most people who take supplements fall into very few categories. Theres the people in the "naive" category who take supplements because they believe what they've read on the labels and "know" that what they are taking will give them results. Theres the guys who try a bunch of different products, not really knowing what to believe but rather judging products based on results and recommendations from others who've tried the product, and theres the skeptics, which is the category I fall into. I personally would like to know what is in those magical little capsules before I put them into my body, which doesnt mean that I always have to have proof before I try something (as in the case with 17HD), but means that I would like to at least "look before I leap" so to speak. But think about it. You buy a bottle that says "17-halo-methyl-dianadrone". I'm a biochemistry and physiology major at the University of Minnesota and even I cant tell you what this compound looks like, or what it does. I just thought that the article would be useful for those of us who like to see actual scientific evidence that supports or refutes a manufacturers claims, because as I'm sure you are well aware, none of the claims for efficacy on any dietary supplement are regulated by any government body (FDA included). Hell, I remember walking into a GNC a couple months ago (to purchase vitamins) and seeing a powder claiming to alter your DNA and gene expression (which is ludicrous). As for my friend, I had never lifted with him before he started taking 17HD so I cannot say whether or not 17HD worked for him, but after pressing further, he did say that the whole 50 pounds in 2 weeks was an exaggeration, but that he did see some results. However, he does stack at least 5 different supplements at any time, so take that claim with a grain of salt.

Recommended Great product!! Used to be a big fan of Gakic but downing those 8 horse pills sucked. With 17hd one pill gives the same if not even more energy than Gakic ever did. Great product im on my 2nd bottle and the effect is the same as the first time i used it.

      I liked this product, sometimes.

Personally my biggest issue with it was the constant breakouts.

However for the price, it wasn't too bad.

I'm going to try Ultimate Nutritions Testostogrow next. Friend recommended it.

Recommended I used the platinum version, which I don't see listed. This product worked very well for to increase stregnth and muscle density. I found without plenty of water I had kidney pain, which was easily fixed with more water. My workout routine is two days on, one off, two on etc. If my workouts strung together without a break this product had typical testosterone booster side effects that it claims you don't get from it.

NOT Recommended The absolute biggest, insulting rip off I have ever been conned into trying by a brain dead GNC employee. Actually I am braindead for not reading the ingredients, The steriod sounding chemichal main ingredient is caffiene. This is the only supplement I have ever rated 3 zeros
