Description
White Willow Bark has been used in China for centuries to relieve pain and lower fever. The active ingredient in white willow is salicin. When entered into the body salicin converts into salicylic acid. Salicylic acid may lower the body’s levels of prostaglandin a hormone like compounds that can cause aches, pain, and inflammation. The first known aspirin was made with a form of salicylic acid. Currently all aspirin is chemically synthesized. Thus white willow bark has been known to be called herbal aspirin.
