Sci-fit Fat Free Beef Stix
I saw these as I was scrolling through BB.com wasting time and I thought that I’d give them a shot.
I wanted to find an alternative to the “chocolate coated candy bar” style protein bars for an in between meal snack. I love beef jerky and beef sticks so these were exactly what I was looking for.
Content: (9)
15 grams of protein /1oz stick
1 gram of carbs
360mg of sodium
0 fats
Beef, water, salt, spices, sugar, dextrose, natural Smoke flavor, mustard, hydrolyzed milk protein, hydrolyzed gelatin, sodium phosphate, lactic acid starter, sodium nitrite
The key to these beef sticks are that they are fat free. They add in milk protein and gelatin to replace the fat creating a beef stick with a firm snap and dryer texture. Very nice and not at all greasy like gas station beef sticks. They could of cut back on the salt but then these things wouldn’t be nearly as tasty.
Price and Value: (10)
$21.74for a case of 20 sticks ($1.09/stick)
For all of us that buy beef jerky, you know how expensive the real stuff is.
Sticks are usually less expensive because they can use lesser non premium cuts to cut the cost down. The price is a little bit more expensive than Slim Jim’s but they don’t have the same protein content and are loaded with fat.
Flavor: (10)
I have only tried the black pepper beef sticks. I really enjoy the light spice notes and with undertones of mustard. They added just enough spice to make them taste great without being over powering.
I have to hold myself back from eating more than 2 per day. The flavor is great, but they are not as juicy/moist as regular full of fat beef sticks.
If you are looking for a snack alternative to protein bars, check these out.
Great flavor, 15 grams of protein – no fat, and they won’t break the bank.
Eat 3 and it still costs less than a protein bar.
