After a disappointing experience with
Animal Rage I was very reluctant to re enter the stimulant arena anytime soon. In actual fact – on reflection –
Animal Rage was probably a little more effective than I
Originally thought. To be fair, it did induce feelings of extreme vein popping RAGE when it didn't work. Maybe i've misjudged them? Anyway ......
For some unknown reason I just don’t have the energy or enthusiasm for the gym these days and I struggle through sets. The whole experience was becoming a tedious endeavour, instead of the eagerly anticipated pursuit it once was. Something had to change. I had considered purchasing a tub of NO-Explode after a reasonably good experience with this product in the past. However, as much as I enjoyed the effect from BSN’s formula, I also suffered a little gastrointestinal pain and a legacy of fruit punch burps with a residual chalky chemically taste which lasted hours and kept reminding me of
BSN and Ronnie Coleman – not good during a bout of intimacy at 3am with the girlfriend and all you can hear is a squeaky subconscious voice shouting “Light weight baby”
After casually discussing my predicament with the gym owner one afternoon, he suggested I try Supercharge, and offered me a serving out of his private stash (How could I refuse?) Consuming a 2 scoop serving, I wandered off into the gym without a second thought to the
pre-workout formula. After salvaging an Olympic bar for my Bench Press session and completing a warm-up, I suddenly started to feel slightly detached from my environment, perhaps best described as if I was peering in through a window.
With-in 15 minutes of drinking Supercharge, it was – as they say – in full effect. My energy and strength had considerably improved, but it was the intense feeling of euphoria which dominated my awareness. All the stress and lethargy evaporated, quickly replaced by a feeling visually reminiscent of Julia Andrews skipping through the fields in the sound of music (Keep that between us. I have a reputation)
The physical effects were – for me at least – surprisingly enhanced. My working set increased by 5kg for 8 reps from the week before. This may not – to some – seem a lot, or a significant improvement, but my bench hadn’t improved in over 2 months, despite various changes to diet and training. The psychological effects were as equally impressive; concentration, enthusiasm and tenacity had all intensified to remarkable levels.
The energy and concentration effects from Supercharge continued long after leaving the gym. I was still feeling slightly buzzed out 12 hours later. So if you are particularly sensitive to stimulants this product may perhaps be too strong for you, or at least interfere with restful sleep. There were – in my experience - one or two other negatives to Supercharge. I found myself – despite drinking lots of water – very dehydrated. My lips become irritated & sore and I had very mild, but noticeable, discomfort in the area of my kidneys. These effects continually manifested themselves on maximum (2 scoop) servings. Unfortunately – as with many stimulants, you can quickly build up a tolerance, which is no different to Supercharge. A 2 scoop serving is necessary to continually benefit from its effects, although even at this dose, there is an eventual
REDuction in stimulus.
I like Supercharge, it is a quality supplement. But in my experience it should only be used twice a week on tough workouts (legs & back for example) with at least 3 days rest in between. This system seems to keep receptors reasonably immune from desensitisation and allows you to use maximum dose with a fair degree of effectiveness. Plus – just in my opinion – I don’t think it’s wise to keep shovelling these stimulants down your throat and stressing out delicate and vital organs.
And make sure you keep well hydrated at all times.
