AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60, often just referred to as Wheybolic 60, is a high quality protein that is marketed as part of GNC's store brand. It is whey protein isolate, so it is one of the purest forms of whey available.
One complaint that many have is that it is very pricey as there are many other isolates of equal quality available for a cheaper price.

Ok people... This is the BIGGEST (of many) scams that Gnc has to offer. First off, let's look at the name.... A little dramatic!! Also, they boast about the whopping 60g of protein, which is funny because that's WAY too much in one serving and that's for 3 scoops anyway. Any protein you buy anywhere would have at least 60g per 3 scoops. The price is an absolute joke, $73 for protein?? Anyone dedicated lifter, bodybuilder, athlete knows that protein powder is not what makes or breaks you. It all works the same whether it's hydrolyzed or a concentrate. I work at Gnc and it's honestly hilarious how many people buy this stuff thinking its the "best" and boasting about its 60g, not realizing that 60g/ 3 scoops = 20g/ 1 scoop. It's the most overpriced, over dramatic named product I have ever seen. I get commission on this and I don't even sell it because it's such a joke. After tax it comes out to $78 for 50 scoops!!!! That's laughable!!! I've never seen one decently built guy buy this and that says a lot. Come on people, stick with what's cheap and in bulk, the type of protein you take is insignificant. Bang weight, eat a MEAL every 3 hours an you'll grow. It's that simple. Gnc went wayyyyy overboard with this one.

| 3 scoops is a bit much. Yea people assume just cause they take in 60g of protein the body will abosorb it all. Not only will the body not absorb it all, but all that you do absorb will not do directly to building muscle.
I dont think this is a bad protein, but overexaggerated yes, dosing protocal trash - yes. Its not terrible, but yea there are better things out there.
An interesting fact is that this protein is made in the same facilities as ON. ON actually makes GNC's protein with the materials that GNC itself supplies. |

| Ok let me clarify... My point of this post is that yes there are technically "better" proteins when comparing concentrate to hydrolyzed or isolates, however the difference in results is almost insignificant or impossible to notice. For Example, I have seen some of my best strength/size gains during a period in which I didn't drink a post workout shake.
There are so many factors that go into recovery and growth and when you break down your calories: protein and carbs for the entire day, one post workout shake is only a small fraction.
@josephobrien- no my friend I do not have a lot to learn. Yes I work at a franchise which has nothing to do with all of my own research, it's fine if you want to listen to GNC corporate propoganda about getting stronger in half the sets with wheybolic and spend your $70+ on it. I choose not to, because my results will be the same, and there's no way you can say otherwise.
Yes this post was more of a rant but that's just the frustration I have because of the countless kids who have been buying this stuff for a year and have seen 0 results. For almost $80 there's much better things u can buy. My main point was that too much emphasis is put on the "best protein" and it's far too expensive when in the end, the type is almost insignificant.

I Love this protein! First things first, the price is unbelievably to high for this, but it does work. I mean after all, all the protein by GNC is made by Optimum Nutrion.
Taste 9/10: Have tried cookies and cream, chocolate, and vanilla. I think it actually taste better that 100% Gold Standard to be honest.
Mixability 10/10: Mixes just fine with a spoon and a glass.
Effectiveness 9/10: It says to use 3 scoops for 60g protein. I never do that anymore, I used 2 for 40g. Plus it makes it last a little bit longer. I Did try the three scoops and it didn't make a difference in my strength gains. I did notice I put on mass fairly quickly and strength gains did go up.
I love the fact that it has 7.7g Leucine in it along with ~4g of Glutamine. (Per serving)
7g carbs, 280cal 1g fat.
Have to admit if this wasn't so expensive, this would be my go to protein.

I dont know if i have much to add to all the reviews already written on the wheybolic, but anyways, ill tell u how it went for me.
well taste was amazing at first, i only tried the strawberry, i'd throw in the 2 scoops with 9 oz of skimmed milk and just enjoy it. I'd give it a 10 outa 10 except that after three weeks, for some reason the smell and taste of the shake itself would make me sick, and i would just jug it as quickly as possible. so a 9/10 would be fair enough.
Mixability is a 9 as it mixed great but it just formed that thin cloudy white layer that formed at the top after stirring. Had a wierd taste to it.
Value mmmmm thats a problem coz i bought it here in kuwait for an equivalent of 58 us dollars with the gold premium card discount, making it 2.3 dollars per 2 scoops (like everyone said, ur body wont utilize more than 2 scoops after a workout) which is not cheap, AT ALL...so for me value is a 7...and thats just the norm for GNC here in the middle east, and probably in the US too...they are just pricey
Effectiveness: What i really noticed was my fast recovery and how less sore i felt after my 2 hour workouts, thanks to the leucine. The increase in strength was clear as i steadily increased my weights through the 6 week period i was using wheybolic. My weight lifting workouts used to last for an hour and a half and i'd be dying at the end, but using this, i just added 6 more sets to my routines and i still had more energy at the end. To be honest, i ate madly during that period and that definitely helped. I couldnt say i got leaner as my diet wasnt that good, as i just ate what i want so i'd say i just got BULKIER.But for those who will keep a good diet, the carnitine will definitely get u lean if combined with a good routine, along with the arganine helping maintaining that muscle mass.
Overall, It's a solid 8, and definitely worth trying.

I started using this protein powder about a month ago and it's definitely the best I've used so far! I'm on my cutting cycle right now and would definitely recommend it to anyone doing the same. The taste is better than any other powder I've tried. Not too sweet and doesn't have that fake sugar taste after like some do. Super easy to mix and there are a variety of flavors as well. I drink this after every workout and I always feel great. Since I'm a girl I don't really want to bulk up, so I only take 1 scoop as opposed to 3 like it says on the tub and I still get 20g of protein for only about 90 calories. I've combined this with OEP and I've been more than happy with my results. It definitely is the best protein out there for cutting, especially for females. It's helped me tone up without feeling massive and my recovery rate has increased X2. Leaves me feeling full and is a great post workout supplement. I blend mine with berries, ice and water and it's just like a smoothie. It's not too pricey and is definitely worth it.

So I need to first say that I am a GNC Employee, so you can take this review however you would like.
This is also my first product review ever. Hopefully I am as thorough as possible.
PRICE: 6.5/10 Right now at my store it is 69.99 a bottle for the big tubs, (yes i know 70 bucks is a lot) With the Gold card and when it is buy one get one fifty percent of your price with tax is 86.50, making a price of 23.58 grams of protein per dollar spent. For comparison ON 100% whey is 52.99 Extreme Milk Chocolate, and not including tax)on BBing.com and in store at GNC, that is 31.26 grams of protein per dollar for the 5 pound tub. (This method of price calculation works well with all 100% whey types of protein, but don't try it on a weight gainer.)
Quality and Content: 10/10- First off everyone should know that optimum makes all of GNC's protein, so when you are slamming how bad GNC protein is you are slamming Optimum. Whey 60 is isolate and Hydrolyzed protein. So it mixes really well. This is my guess and it is nothing but that but I believe that most of the isolates are Cross-flow microfiltration (CFM) whey isolates, I say that because it does not have the grainy texture like Isopure and other proteins that say they are ion-exchange. In my opinion CFM whey is better than ion-exchange because more of the protein is digestible, even though ion-exchange usually yields more protein, it is not as digestible because of the use of electricity.
There is a lot of L-Leucine and Glutamine in this protein, I only use two scoops so i get about 5.13 grams of Leucine and 7.24 grams of Glutamine and 40 grams of protein, .6g of fat, and 4.6 grams of carbs.
There is also 500mg of Carnitine per 3 scoops (333.33 mg per two scoops), so unless you are taking additional carnitine you really are not getting much out of that; the recommendation i see from most sources is between 4000 and 6000mg. It also has 23 grams of micronized aminos per 3 scoops, so a little over 8 grams per scoop.
Taste: 10/10- Flavors in the tubs are Chocolate, Vanilla, C&C, strawberry, Banana, and fruit punch.
I really like Banana and Chocolate, cookies and cream is not anything special. But the banana is the best banana i have had, tied with Myofusion banana perfection. (yes, i did say that it is JUST AS GOOD!! ;-))
Recovery: 10/10 with all the things it has listed above it is no wonder that it has such a good recovery rating. I am not sore like I usually get when I do a heavy leg day for example. It is a great protein.
Summary: Besides the price it is a great protein that is manufactured by an upstanding company.
PS. I have seen on a lot of reviews for this protein and other proteins saying that you can not digest a given number of protein in an hour, this is false. Digestion is when the food item passes from the small intestine into the body, (going from gut to blood, if you will) The body is very good at digesting protein, it digests about 98+ percent of all protein that you put unto it. If it did not, because of proteins properties we would have diarrhea whenever we ate to much protein!! weather it can use all of it is a separate issue.
Food for thought.
Thanks for reading.

| This is my go-to Whey. I have tried nearly everything and I hate like heck to pay top dollar for anything so I would love to find an affordable replacement but I can't. Regardless, GNC employee or not, this is a very good product and worth the extra cost unless and until someone can beat it IMHO. Good review bro. |

I have been taking different types of proteins for about 9 years since I started lifting. I train for powerlifting and I wrestle. So I beat my body up pretty bad training. The recovery time from a hydrolyzed protein is amazing. I don't suffer from DOMS nearly as much as I should, considering the training. The serving size should not be as high as it is because the body really can't digest 60 grams of protein at one time, even if it is hydrolyzed protein. Your body doesn't have high enough protein synthesis rates to absorb all of it. I personally take 1.5 to 2 scoops immediately after workouts and can tell a noticeable difference with my recovery and strength gains over the weeks. Another good things is that it is lower in calorie for a high grade protein, with about 170 calories for 2 scoops... don't quote me on that. This helps me to recover the way I want to and still stay around the same weight for my weight class. This product is very high in amino acids and also has carnitine, which helps with recovery and the use of fat more efficiently. GNC tends to overprice things to much. Buy in bulk when it's buy one, get one half off, but buy the bags it's cheaper. Overall I really like this product for post-workout recovery and strength.

I do not think you should limit yourself to using just WHEY protein; however, when using whey protein I suggest you try several until you find the right one for YOU.
GNCs AMP Wheybolic Extreme 60 is the right one for me. I wish it wasn't because it is difficult to get it on sale, or on a BOGO free and it is expensive if you pay retail for it. (That's a negative.)
It is easy to find and you can have it shipped to your house (often free) so that is a plus.
It tastes great (I prefer chocolate) although there is honestly better tasting protein out there.
The supplements in this protein are zen for me. They hit the mark. The (micronized)amino acid profile is impressive and the 60 grams of protein in three scoops will cost you 280 calories (240 of those are pure protein- 86%) and it provides a nice little punch of calcium to boot.
((On a bulk try three scoops of this, one half to one bannana, two tsp of peanut butter, and add a greek vanilla yogurt, 1 cup of ice, 1 cup of chocolate milk and 1 cup of water in a blender and shazam - 675 healthy calories.))
All and all I can only say that if you buy a good whey protein your personal needs, digestive tolerances and tastes are most important IMHO. Look for isolates and hydrolysates (AMP 60 uses both) and luecine (7.7 gms in this one).
And finally, I don't always use WHEY protein but when I do, I prefer AMP Extreme 60. ;-)

First and foremost it's the best tasting whey I've had. I had both the vanilla and the chocolate and the vanilla is genuinely good. I usually just pound my whey but when I was with vanilla, ah....sweet sweet vanilla.
It dissolves without a problem in a shaker bottle. It's got 60 grams of protein if you follow their scoop recommendation. The drawbacks are the price and the carbs. It's not carb heavy but I was looking for something that was very low carb. If you are going to spend a lot on your whey, buy this.

Hey everyone this is my 2nd Amp review. I got this because it was the only one in that product line that looked great. But like most I was not going to pay max price for this or even the "20%" off was just not worth it. anyway I finally go it for an ok price so.............TO THE REVIEW.
Price=5 ok im rating this at the sticker price of 60bucks for the 3lb tub. BUT i got two 1 1/2lb bags for a bogo plus the 20%off. at that point it was like 37 bucks or something like that. which is a decent price for the quality of the product.
Profile=8 ok this has 280cals per serving, only 1g of fat and 7g of carbs which is ok, its a hair more salt than i would like but its not a lot. You get some calcium and potassium but at max serving the protein is a whooping 60g which is more than anyone needs for post workout. They put avg amounts of glutamine, bcaa's, and arginine, along with aminogen/digestive enzymes.
One of the selling factors for me was the 500mg of canitine. which if you have been following my reviews is a personal favorite of mine. Now the fact they dont have a prop blend (they have a few mixes but i can live with that) gives it another plus. my biggest Problem with this is at max dose this is a 79g serving! thats just a little to much for me. I didnt do the 3 scoops I did 2 or 2 1/2 depending on the day.
taste=7 i had 2 flavors, the tropical punch and strawberry. the punch was great but the strawberry had a weird after taste.
Mixability=8 meh its average considering the amount of water/powder ratio you need. it can get gritty but still not bad.
I would recommend this "ONLY" if you can get 3 total lbs for under 40 bucks. I dont like the 1 1/2lb bags they really get annoying unless you dump them in a tub. also to go through the hoops that gnc makes u go through to get this at a decent price is very annoying.
*This was purchased and used before my current job.
