Recommended Whey Protein is one of the most widely marketed supplements available today. Nearly every company that sells supplements seems to have their own version of whey, and with good reason: It's one of the most basic and effective supplements available. In this case, Dymatize decided to stick with the basics and unlike some companies, didn't act like they re-invented the wheel.

Mixability/Texture: 9.0/10
I mix all of my protein shakes with water and with this whey isolate, I never had any mixing issues and required only mild shaking. Granted, the instantized proteins from Optimum are unrivaled in my opinion for mixability and smooth texture, there are no major complaints here.

Taste: 9.3/10
Taste is one of the most subjective areas for nearly any supplements, but I'm more concerned about the ingredient profile and effectiveness than anything. That being said, this was a pleasant surprise. I got the 10 lb variety box of Vanilla, Chocolate and Berry. The vanilla was impressive and I'm not even a vanilla fan usually. The Berry was surprisingly good as well with a light taste that is mildly sweet and not overpowering. The chocolate was my favorite with a mildly sweet, cocoa flavor. Good work overall, especially with minimal sweetners.

Ingredient Profile: 8.9/10
BCAA profile upon first glance looks off the charts to most, but if you read further, its 'Per 100g of protein'. Still, even when broken down into an individual serving size, its a solid basic BCAA profile. Obviously like the name would suggest, it's pretty high quality being primarily whey isolate. Overall, not bad, but nothing extraordinary.

Effectiveness: 8.8/10
I used it primarily as a between meal protein and of course a few times as a post workout protein. While protein isn't necessarily a supplement that you will 'feel' a difference, I didn't notice any dip in recovery compared to my typical proteins and I had no digestive issues (gas, bloating, etc.). Once again, nothing really special about it, but a good protein overall if you're cutting back budget wise.

Value: 9.4/10
The price is very competitive to similar products, especially with the high amount of whey isolate and this is probably the biggest selling point overall.

Overall: 9.2/10
This is a pretty impressive whey isolate. If you're looking for a change of pace in your proteins, then you certainly won't be disappointed trying this. A combination of good mixability, taste and effectiveness make this a winner from the ever growing Dymatize.

@Worm: Haha, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

@KevO: Yeah man, they certainly are a legit company. I've tried this, Fusion 7, and Elite XT and they're all very impressive.

Went with the all natural eh?

I love dymatize proteins (you all know this). If you like the vanilla in this whey, you'll love their vanilla casein bro. I'm the same as you, not a fan of vanilla protein but their casein is delicious! And effective. No, it's not all 100% miscellar casein, but it's pretty damn good.

Recommended Point blank the best Bang for your Buck in terms of what you need when you need it. Super fast Protein Isolate with the best Amino Profile in the industry. It is low carb, low fat and descent tasting; I mix it with water, probably taste better with milk. It is also the lowest priced Isolate which is amazing! It is flavored with sucralose and not aspartame and corn syrup solids. Bonus.. Best flavors are coffee, chocolate mint, and rich chocolate.
Pros:
Cons:
  • Best Whey Isolate For The Money
  • Tastes Good
  • Best Amino Profile
  • Not Sweetened With Aspartrame
  • Good Value
  • Foams Up Big Time

Recommended Some people believe that some manufacturer's proteins are far superior to others when comparing like products (isolate VS isolate, concentrate/blend VS concentrate/blend, etc) While there are some minor differences in product additives, vitamins, or % of blends, for the most part protein is protein from my experience.

Most manufacturer's proteins are good & equally effective products in my experience.

I tried the Dymatize Elite All Natural product because I wanted to try a product without artificial sweeteners. I'm not a freak about avoiding artificial sweeteners but I like to eat food in its most natural state when possible.

I didn't look real closely at the label before ordering since I wanted to try it but I was disappointed to find that they did not include the % breakdown of whey isolate to concentrate although it is sold as whey isolate. I'd like to know if it's 60/40, 70/30 or even 95/5 right?

Taste---------------------------------------

You can definitely tell that artificial sweeteners are gone. I've tried strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla and all of them have very mild versions of those flavor mixed with a slightly chalky taste. I mix mine with as little water as possible in order to keep some flavor and I also add some Dextrose for post workout drinks which helps with drink ability.

Taste is not the most important factor for me though so this product still receives high scores

Texture---------------------------

After you shake it up it gets a little frothy on top (although not as bad as some other brands I've tried) If the chalky flavor with foam brings chunks to the back of your throat, I sometimes shake it and let it sit for a minute or two to smooth out before drinking.

Again, flavor/texture are not super important to me.

Price---------------------------

The price seems to be in line with other proteins. (Prolab, NOW, Regular Dymatize Elite, etc).

Most proteins are loaded with artificial ingredients so if you are one to avoid these, this protein could get you a little closer to "eating natural"

Effectiveness---------------------------

Like I said I believe before, most protein is protein when you compare like products. I personally like this product because it gives you a very basic base to start with for your protein shakes. This gives me the flexibility to add malodextrin, Dextrose, L-Glut, creatine, etc based on how grueling a workout day I have.

I like to understand what I'm drinking as opposed to buying a protein product with everything in it.

Overall a solid product but if taste is important you may want to try something different.
Pros:
Cons:
  • Great Base
  • No Artificial Sweeteners
  • Good Value
  • Questionable Taste
  • Mildly Foamy
