Recommended I had been using Purple Wraath sample packets for years and enjoyed them very much but it wasnt until a few months ago that I finally purchased a legitimate tub of it.

The flavor I purchased was the Purple Lemonade.
I particularly like PW since it contains Essential amino acids as well as branched chain amino acids.
PW omits glutamine which is kind of nice since it gives the user the choice of adding it in or using glutamine post workout.

Effectiveness: 8
Purple Wraath is very effective for being an amino acid supplement and it provides prolonged energy during aerobic and anaerobic exercise and muscular endurance. The beta-alanine is noticeable and gives the associated tingle when you drink this.
I noticed an increase in my recovery when I took PW and my soreness would diminish within a day rather than two or three if it was a heavy legs day. I like that its calorie free and without the glutamine it is appropriate for a low-carb lifestyle.

Taste: 8
The taste requires some getting used to but after you have acquired the last, its rather enjoyable. Unlike pre-workout drinks which you sometimes have to choke down, you can steadily sip PW during your workout and it only has a slightly sweet but mostly tangy flavor of purple lemonade.

Mixability: 6
Like most amino acid mixes, it does not mix all too well in ice cold water and dissolves much more completely in room temperature water. Over time (30 minutes) it will dissolve completely into ice cold water which Modern BCAA never seems to do.

Value: 7
This is a very pricey supplement especially for what it does. If you dont have a surplus of money, I dont think I would recommend Purple Wraath since its a secondary supplement and not the basis of any stack I would recommend.
For a 45 serving tub its $34 and for a 90 serving tub its an astounding $51!! Not worth it IMO granted its only an amino acid supplement and most of us get post workout whey within the hour regardless.

Overall: 8
Despite the price gouging, the product does what it claims and thats more than I can say for the majority of supplements on the market today. It decreases recovery time, increases endurance, and tastes well enough to actually enjoy.

Pros:
Cons:
  • Beta-alanine Tingle
  • Increased Energy
  • Great Ingredient Profile
  • Great Recovery
  • Keeps You Anabolic
  • Endurance
  • Bad Breath
  • Pricey

Recommended I hate giving all 10's but this deserves it.

I wanted to give this a try after a run through of Xtend, which I love. Everyone that is raving about using Xtend intra workout needs to switch to this ASAP.

Xtend is made up of BCAA's, Citrulline Malate, and Glutamine.

Purple Wraath contains all of this (except the Glutamine) as well as Beta Alanine, EAAs, and a few other goodies too.

Purple Wraath claims they did not add Glutamine because the body can make it (which is true), but when you exercise, your body's Glutamine levels drop significantly and take several days to fully resupply. Obviously this isn't good if you workout almost everyday, and low Glutamine is linked to catabolism.

But I'm actually fine with that because I supplement Glutamine anyway, and if you don't you should.

I absolutely love the taste of watermelon Xtend, and this doesn't fall short. I have the Purple Lemonade. I still can't think of what it smells like. It's some cotton candy jello concoction, and I find it addicting. Taste is pretty much a lemonade; reminds me of Lemon-Lime Jack3d.

Both Xtend & Purple Wraath pack 7g of BCAAs per serving, but it's the extra stuff Wraath packs that make it better.

I definitely enjoy this during a workout. When you take a swig between sets, you just have that feeling that you can do more. Wraath even contains Arginine, which we all know improves blood flow to deliver a good pump.

As I said with Xtend, this can work great during a cut to preserve lean muscle tissue.

It's definitely worth the price. About 50 bucks for 90 servings; about 55 cents per use.

I find this stacks great with Jack3d. I mix a little bit in a water bottle with Jack3d. Then once I down that, refill with more water and add some more Purple Wraath and sip it throughout my workout.
Pros:
Cons:
  • Addicting Smell
  • Nice Intra Workout
  • Increased Energy
  • Great Ingredient Profile
  • Great Recovery
  • Keeps You Anabolic
  • Endurance
  • No Glutamine

Recommended When i cycled off of creatine and my pre-workout(Jacked) i decided to try Purple Wraath. I used it as my intra-workout drink and wow was i impressed with this product. Purple Wraath has no fillers just benifical ingredients. With a nice blend of beta-alanine and citrulline it definitely gave my body alot more endurance to pump out 1-2 extra reps witch was awesome. The 7g of BCAA's and eaa's helped keep my body anabolic through my workout and cardio session. Alot of people conplained about the taste but i actually loved the grape flavor. I also found it mixed pretty good when you added it to your bottled water and just shook it. I experienced no side effects while using this product and will definitely use again. (IMO) This is a perfect supplement to use when cycling off you pre-workout or creatine product. If you can afford it i highly recommend it.

Recommended Purple Wraath is a product from Controlled Labs used to assist in workout recovery. I typically take it before and after my workouts. My soreness and overall recovery was literally cut in half since I’ve been on Purple Wraath. In addition to using it for intra-workout while weight training, I use it during cardio to prevent catabolism and promote protein synthesis and recovery.
Product Claims vs. Personal Results
* Fast Absorption/fast acting
- As far as absorption goes, I didn’t notice any digestive issues, and the ‘tingling’ from the Beta Alanine is noticeable within minutes.
* ECAA & BCAA
- Purple Wraath contains an excellent ingredient profile of both EAAs and BCAAs.
* Caffeine-free ergogenic formula
- It was nice to find such a great formula that doesn’t rely on caffeine to make the user ‘feel’ the product. The beta-alanine can cause a tingly feeling, but it is better than the buzz and crash of caffeine. Furthermore, caffeine can sometimes cause a catabolic effect which would be counterproductive in a product like this.
* Delicious Tangy Grape Flavor
- The flavor of this product isn’t the best tasting thing on the planet, but it wasn’t bad either. It is pretty impressive for a product that isn’t loaded with tons of sugar.
* Natural Anabolic Environment
- The product ingredients are natural, and BCAA/EAA’s contained here have been shown to prevent catabolism and muscle breakdown during workouts, all while promoting protein synthesis.
* Increase athletic performance, endurance, focus, stamina, and muscle recovery
- This is where Purple Wraath shines. I put it to the test during a 6 week long cutting phase including 2 workout sessions per muscle group a week and 4 sessions of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Not only did it help with the retention of my lean mass on a cutting cycle, but I was experiencing some of the best recovery that I’ve ever had. The endurance on my HIIT cardio was also noticeably increased as well.
* Legal, safe, and effective for both men and women
- The ingredient profile is legit, containing natural, non hormonal ingredients, which prove to be safe and legal.
* Stimulate metabolism to reduce body fat
- It’s hard to judge a product’s effectiveness when it comes to stimulating metabolism, but I did in fact notice that it made my cutting cycle go considerably smoother.
* Explosive strength, power, and energy
- Once again, it is hard to judge a products effectiveness in this category because many factors can have a hand in it, especially while on a cut. Though from my personal experience my strength was maintained and even went up on some lifts.
* Increase or maintain muscle mass whether cutting or bulking
- True to its word, it fulfilled its purpose when it came to helping maintain my muscle while cutting. There was also noticeable muscle fullness and pumps for longer periods post workout compared to before use.
Overall Product Rating:
* Mixability in a shaker/sports bottle: 9
* Mixability in a glass with spoon: 6
- I’ve found that it mixes well in a bottle, but is difficult when mixing in a glass with a spoon.
* Taste: 10
- Excellent grape taste without any added sugar.
* Pricing: 10
- I got the 90 serving container and feel that it’s more than worth the rough $50 I paid for it.
* Overall: 9.9
- Overall, I am extremely please with Purple Wraath and I honestly feel that Controlled Labs outdid themselves. Not only does it contain EAA’s and BCAA’s, but also Beta Alanine, Citrulline and a couple of other beneficial ingredients
Pros:
Cons:
  • Great Ingredient Profile
  • Great Recovery
  • Nice Intra Workout

Recommended Overall IMO this is an effective supplement. It's not the end all be all intra-workout drink, but it does help give you some energy and staying power in the gym. It doesn't taste fantastic, but neither flavor is bad at all. (I prefer to mix it with about 30 oz of water)

Mixes pretty good for an Amino Acid drink.
Most likely you will get the tingles and flushed feeling from this, but it's not overwhelming and actually feels good to me. I've never felt over stimulated either (but I've also never taken more than 1 1/2 scoops at a time.

Buying the large container with 90 servings for around $40 isn't too bad, but I can't say that it's a great value.

Forget about the Shoppe! Allstarhealth.com is about the same price, but that's for the 90 servings. Check them out, 5.95 flat rate shipping, but they have some of the best prices out there and it's a safe site.

Recommended This is my favorite intra workout drink! The taste is good and I just shake it in an old Gatorade 32oz bottle. Keeps you hydrated and energized the whole work-out. About 90 mins. I never crashed and would leave the gym satisfied. No tingle!...at least for me. I'm diggin' on Controlled Labs products. They seem to have it together...grind on!

Recommended Just finished a Tub of Purple Wraath, and I have to say Controlled Labs has not let me down. There are three ways I will judge this product, as I used it 3 different ways.

Value: 8/10. Value was okay, I paid around $30 or so for 45 servings. I jumped from two scoops to one scoop, back to two and one. It lasted me a little over a month, to which i cant complain.
Taste: 10/10. I personally thought mine tasted delicious. I got the lemonade flavor, and it was refreshing used as a intra workout, and even better with a scoop in a gallon of water to sip throughout the day. It honestly tasted like ice cold lemonade.
Mixability: 7/10. You still get a few floating specs. If you mix it in ice cold water and let it sit for two minutes it goes a way.
Effectiveness: 9/10. So I first used this as a intra workout. I filled up a 32oz Gatorade Water bottle with ice cold water, and put two scoops in. Shook it up and did some work. This stuff is awesome. Its a such a clean energy feeling. You dont feel like your drugged out on stim's. You just sip on it, and your workout is just smooth. My only complaint with using this intra was the Beta alanine tingle, never hit me till post workout. It wasn't just a little tingle, it was like things were crawling up and down my legs. Haha it was crazy feeling! Another complaint with it being intra is you have to suck down a good bit of water, than if your like me slam a post work out as well. I do Cardio throughout the week, and you feel very bloated form all the water intake.
I also used this in my gallon's of water throughout the day, which still made a gallon of water taste like a watered down lemonade. It made my water something to look forward to. You also get slight beta alanine tingles throughout the day, and it feels awesome. Now the final way I used this was a pre workout. I didnt use the suggested water amount, as I thought that was way to much. So I did about 6 oz of water, shook it up and chugged. One scoop btw. This has been my favorite way to use this. As a preworkout it gives you such a clean energy. You dont get a nasty crash, but you get a good euphoric feeling if you would. I would go in the gym and workout longer than what I normally would, and wouldnt feel that exhausted feeling.
So all in all controlled labs hits a home run for me. I personally like this product, as an intra, gallon mixer, or my favorite as a pre workout. It brings the intensity of a pre workout, but recovery of a bcaa supplement. As always though, this is a supplement and is meant to supplement your diet. This will not yield results, only proper training and a clean diet will do that. No supplement will change your life, only you can do that. But as always this will put a foot in the right direction.
Pros:
Cons:
  • Nice Intra Workout
  • Increased Energy
  • Great Ingredient Profile
  • Great Recovery
  • Keeps You Anabolic
  • Endurance
  • Addicting Smell

Recommended Price: 6/10- the cost of this intra-workout drink is $33.99 on bb.com. I found that to be a little steep but I will continue to pay for it because it does what is says it is gonna do.
Effectiveness: 10/10- I consume this during my workout and it seems as if I never get tired. The affect on my endurance has been incredible.
Ingredients: 8/10- niacin-affects the production of steroid hormones in the adrenal gland.
bcaa's- protein synthesis is kicked off and going strong by the time that you get home and have your post workout protein drink.
L-arginine- has been shown to produce the secretion of growth hormone.
L-phenylalanine- is a precursor for the production of epinephrine (adrenaline)
Overall: 10/10- I have found this product to be excellent for intra and post-workout. It is a little pricey but well worth it in my opinion.
Pros:
Cons:
  • Nice Intra Workout

Recommended Hey Everyone! Here's my first review:
I bought this online at BB.com. I got the 90 servings for around 50 bucks plus shipping to Guam. I had tried two tubs of Scivation's Xtend (not the new looking tub) and one tub of ON's Amino energy and enjoyed it, so I bought purple wraath because it had some extra goodies in there for about the same price. I wanted to try another BCAA drink and decided to go Controlled Labs instead of buying ON's Amino Energy.

Taste: 8: Juicy Grape was decent. Not awesome like Xtend. From what I've heard, it must be hard to mask the taste of BCAA's. The juicy grape had a strong smell and taste, but you get used to it.

Effectiveness: 9: I drank this pre-workout and intra-workout, or whenever I wanted something sweet to drink. The beta alanine produced nice tingles and the citrulline malate improved my pumps slightly. It helped me recover a day faster after heavy leg days and my muscles felt fuller and harder while using it.

Price-7- It is a priced close to AMINO Energy and Xtend. It is a little too pricey in my opinion to become a staple in my stack but I would definitely buy again when I have a little more paper to blow.

Mixability - 8 - Not too bad. I just put two scoops in my shaker cup and sipped it slowly. I would add more water in the shaker cup after I had drank about half of it.

Overall: 9 - The juicy grape taste grows on you. It improves performance, decreases recovery time, gives you those nice beta tingles, gives you a little better pump, has all the BCAA's and EAA's you need, and is priced competitively with similar products. I feel that it is more effective than AMINO ENERGY and Xtend. Thus, if you got some extra dough to burn, this is something I recommend trying
Pros:
Cons:
  • Nice Intra Workout
  • Increased Energy

Recommended I finished 2 tubs of this product and figured its time for a review. I took this product durring my workouts and saw good results.

Taste: I got purple lemonade, I would have to say this is one of the best tasting products I've ever taken.

Effectiveness: I found this product very effective. I saw a decrease in recovery time, I was never sore after a workout, and it gave me some endurance during my workout.

Overall I thought this was a very good product. It has a very good ingredient profile and you will deferentially notice results in recovery time with this product. The one thing that I didn't like with this product was that its a bit pricey, but if you have the money its defiantly worth a try.
