First off, thanks to the admin for adding this product. I think some people will benefit from this review.
Why take a fish oil?
I don't know how to put this, but fish oil is kind of a big deal. The reasons for taking fish oil are seemingly endless, most notable are the heart, joint, weight loss, anti-cancer, and mental benefits. Fish oil is nearly as important as your daily multivitamin and anyone, any age, any gender, any body type can benefit from daily fish oil usage.
Why take BodyStrong 100% Pure Fish Oil (1360 mg) over another?
Convenience and Value without sacrificing Safety
Value: 10/10 - This is where BodyStrong blows the competition away. Most fish oils slack on the two most studied and important Omega-3 Fatty Acids. BodyStrong has 625 mg EPA and 244 mg DHA per softgel. For argument purposes, lets say that is 869 mg EPA/DHA. You get 180 softgels, so in one container you get 156,420 mg of EPA/DHA for $22.99. Lets say you want to consume 2000 mg EPA/DHA per day, thats 29.395 cents per day.
BodyStrong Enteric Coated contains 360 softgels @ 300 mg EPA/DHA @ $17.99
2000 mg EPA/DHA would cost 33.315 cents per day
ON Enteric Coated contains 200 softgels @ 300 mg EPA/DHA @ $11.79
2000 mg EPA/DHA would cost 39.300 cents per day
Controlled Labs Orange OxiMega contains 120 softgels @ 600 mg EPA/DHA @ $16.89
2000 mg EPA/DHA would cost 46.917 cents per day
GNC Triple Strength contains 60 softgels @ 900 mg EPA/DHA @ $13.192(included Gold Card & BOGO)
2000 mg EPA/DHA would cost 48.859 cents per day
Carlon's Finest contains 100 tsp @ 1300 mg EPA/DHA @ $33.95
2000 mg EPA/DHA would cost 52.231 cents per day
In conclusion, based on consuming 2000 mg of EPA/DHA, switching to BodyStrong could save you $36 - $83 per year.
Dosing: 9/10 - The fish oil that I am reviewing is 1360 mg softgels and are not Enteric Coated, not to be confused with BodyStrong's 1000 mg softgels that are Enteric Coated. So I do have to give a little bit of a negative for the softgels not being Enteric Coated, although I only had a fish burp maybe once or twice in the last month. The minor inconvenience of 1-2 fish burps is overlooked due to the added convenience of taking less pills. I alternate between 2 and 3 softgels per day versus having to take 7 Enteric Coated softgels for the same amount of EPA/DHA.
Effectiveness: 9/10 - Again, small negative for a pair of fish burps but overall I think this product is a winner. I don't think that this fish oil is any better or worse than an equivalent dose from another brand. I do want to point out that BodyStrong has a guarantee to be free from mercury, heavy metals, PCB's, dioxins, and other contaminants. I understand that anyone can guarantee something but it's nice to see the promise attached to their brand.
Overall: 9/10 - BodyStrong 100% Pure Fish Oil (1360 mg) is not perfect but I think it is a really good option for a lot of people out there. At the very least, I hope I opened your eyes to how much you could save in a year. Lastly, if you are currently not supplementing fish oil, then check out all the brands mentioned here and choose which one is best for you.
