This was the best tasting and best value that I found. My roomie & I split two of their huge 28 lb tubs.

Unfortunately when we went to reorder in early 2011, we found that the company was out of business after repeated health code violations. The product was unable to be found since, but somehow appears for sale again through this site and Amazon?

The review says not to post questions so I will simply state my uncertainty in the current state of this company and any products you may find sold as American Whey.

I TRULY HOPE that some OTHER entity took over American Whey and brought this product back to life just as it used to be (cheap, easily mixed, pure, and very tasty). If not, what is being sold today is likely a few years old at least and possibly came from a plant with problematic health-code violations (not that I ever tasted any rat feces as was mentioned in the report). Please comment (with links) if you know more.

Mixability: 9.5/10

I never had any issues mixing this protein once so ever. I always use water with my protein and weight gainers. I used a shaker cup and it only took a couple shakes and it was ready to go. This is not a thick protein at all so it went down very smoothly. Never any clumps either !!!
Taste: 10/10

To me taste is something that doesn’t matter at all, as long as a product is effective, but I feel like most people like to at least know what they are getting themselves into. I can say that this is by far the best tasting protein that I have ever tried. I got the chocolate flavor and I couldn’t have been more please. I tried mixing it with milk a few times and it was almost too good I felt like I was drinking a milkshake. With that being said taste will not be an issue when trying American Whey.

While for me it would be hard to judge if there is a huge difference in size or strength from protein. While I am working out I am always taking some type of protein, normally ON 100% percent whey. It is safe to say that this product was just has effective for me. After finishing a 10lb tub my recovery time never decreased and my lifts never decreased, it was like I never switched proteins. Additionally there were no stomach issues for me so it was a smooth transition. This protein also digested very quickly and there was no bloated feeling at all which I really enjoyed.

I only paid $55 for a 10lb tub that should say enough. This protein has a great profile for the cost that you’re purchasing it at.
Ingredient Profile: 9.0/10 Product uses Protein Isolates over protein concentrates which signifies a much higher grade of protein. Also, it contains a 25mg Digestive Enzyme Blend containing (Papain, Protease, Bromelain, Peptizyme) to aid your body's digestion and absorption of the protein.

Overall 9/10:
This is a great protein and for me was on par with ON, which is one of my top proteins. I would recommend this protein for anyone who wants to try something new, but still wants to ensure that they are getting an effective product. Only complaints that I have is it is really hard to find the protein in the double Dutch chocolate flavor. Also, that each serving is only 20 grams of protein but that can be fixed by taking a big scoop.

One of the best whey proteins I have had! It tastes great and mixes well with milk (I haven't tried it in water). I drink one or two shakes a day and it definitely helps with recovery and it helped me gain a few pounds of muscle. Overall I would recommend it.

I just bought this product for the 1st time, it is cheap and tastes good, I have been using protein shakes for almost 25 years. However, in the states there is no regulations about releasing any product in the market until it falls in hands of the FDA. Therefore anything written on the label can be false or true. I just read this article about this product. Does anyone have had negative impact from it? or have found out if the company has improved their facilities? I called the FDA and waiting to have them call me back.

So I've used a lot of proteins and to me all seem to work (I haven't used one that didn't do its job). The only thing that separates this from others is that it digests very quickly which doesn't give that bloated feeling and that it seriously does taste amazing. I've only tried the chocolate and it tastes like cocoa mix which helps a ton when your actually looking forward to a morning and evening snack when mixed with milk. Overall I love this product and will continue buying this over others mainly because of the value and taste.

I have tried a plethora of other whey products and this one is by far the best. Tastes amazing, mixes without and clumps and is quite affordable.I would buy this product again and again and again. I have also been told by many fitness experts and bodybuilders that this product is the highest quality on the market.

Good product, taste great, effective isolate protein but it is way too pricey especially if considering a 3lb which is $60-70.

The taste is great and for the price, its a great buy. I personally like the vanilla the best. Also, the effectiveness is top notch. Overall, this product is the best out of all Whey Proteins.

I bought the 3lb tub of Double Dutch Chocolate Supreme (yes, that's the actual name of the flavor).The product came in a very basic package, filled almost to the top with powder. Upon opening it, it was very hard to spot any clumps whatsoever, and the few ones that were there were very little. Its whole lifespan that's exactly how it stayed.
The taste is very light, yet actually enjoyable. It mixes up no problem with water, though it does get a little bit frothy in milk, which is no biggie to me. Very smooth to drink, not chalky at all, I don't think I've ever drank a single clump of it using a shaker bottle. After drinking, it's extremely light on the stomach which is another plus, as a lot of powders tend to make me feel uncomfortable upon ingesting, but no problem whatsoever with this.
All in all, I'm extremely happy with this product. Great price, great product. I scrutinized as much as possible due to all the hype, did not find anything below par here. Can't wait to get my 10lb tub :)

This is a completely, non-biased review of American Whey (Wild Berry Blast flavor) by American Sports Nutrition.
Upon first impression: The product fails to have an overly aggressive, sweet, berry scent upon opening it. Typically, with many protein powders I have used in the past, there is a pungent, berry aroma that hits your nose as soon as you open the cover. This is the least of your concerns, however.
Mixibility: Regardless of the liquid (skim milk or water) used to mix the protein powder, the finished result turns out "clump-less" every single time! This is the first time I have witnessed a protein powder that does not clump together when using skim milk. *Remember, use water to mix for a protein drink to ingest immediately after a workout. You want to avoid protein drinks with milk because milk contains 80% casein protein (which is a SLOW-digesting protein). Your muscles crave whey protein because it is a FAST-digesting protein that will replenish your muscles faster at the most crucial absorption rate!) My only tiny gripe is that the drink tends to get a little frothy from mixing with water. However, this is a very little problem since it disappears almost immediately. Quite honestly, I will take 5 seconds of froth over huge amounts of "protein clumps" in the shake.
Taste: The taste is delicious regardless of which liquid you use to mix. Again, quite honestly, this is the first time that a protein drink tastes pretty good with using only water. It doesn't not have any "chalky" flavor with water!
Effectiveness: Here's the small catch. With only packing 20 grams of protein per scoop (per serving), I tend to discredit the product a little. Also, I have been using the product for a month and may have seen slightly better gains with some competing brands (ie: Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard). I cannot verify this since it has only been 1 month, but I tend to believe it thus far.
Cost: Hands down, this product is one of the most cost-effective on the market (especially if you buy in the bulk size of 25lbs).
